We loved our stay! My only complaint is that my husband thought the bed was too hard, but it didn't bother me at all. He ended up purchasing a mattress topper at the local Walmart.
We were on our way to a wedding on the weekend in Granbury and decided to stop in Fredericksburg for two nights. This is our fourth stay in Fredericksburg and 10th in the hill country and this was one of our favorite accommodations. The kitchen and living areas were quite large for the studio style set up ( the bedroom is not completely separate). The kitchen was also well equipped which isnât always the case. And the hot tub was truly private inside a fenced area just off the kitchen. It was a short drive to town, but we enjoyed the serenity. There are three cabins on the property but there is enough spacing and trees for privacy.
Love the cabin. The only thing we didnt like was the window on the east wall. It was blinding when the sun came up and we were still trying to sleep. We will definitely come back, but stay in a different cabin next time.
If you are looking for a place to get away from the city, this is the place. There are at least 2 other cabins you can kind of see from your cabin, but with the brush and trees it doesn't feel like they are right on top of you. We never saw another person the entire weekend coming and going back into town. The hot tub is fenced in and does allow for privacy. The layout of the cabin was very nice. Full kitchen with a kurig coffee maker. Electric fire place open to the bedroom/tub area and to the kitchen. The tv is on a swiveling/rolling credenza type thing.
Very relaxing. Front porch to drink coffee on with chairs and a little table. Nice covered area to park your vehicle and load/unloading your items. Definitely a place we would look forward to visiting again!
The cottage was very nice and we did enjoy it. However, the coffee maker did not work and the water in the dispenser leaker all over the counter. Also there was only a partial role of toilet paper and no additional role, so we provided our own.
This was a delightful property that made for a truly enjoyable experience. Clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.
Honey Hill cabin was the best cabin we have ever stayed in in Fredricksburg and we have stayed in about 25 cabins over the last 30 yrs.
Canât wait to go back next November.
Thanks for everything.
In all everything was Good. Only issue was that the bathroom toilet doesnât flush on the first time, had to flush 2 to 4 times to get it to go down.. and the back door was unlocked when I arrived. Other than those two issues, the place was Great and we enjoyed it!
The cabin was as pretty as the pictures. The bed was very comfortable. There were a few surprises such as the toilet had to be flushed repeatedly, the jets in the jacuzzi tub shown in the pictures was not operational , the outside hot tub was small with just a few jets, the temperature on the hot tub can not be adjusted, it appeared to be somewhat dirty and the water was cloudy. I was hoping for more of a well stocked kitchen. If youâre going to be cooking for your spouse, I recommend bringing your own pots/pans/cooking utensils. Overall we still enjoyed our stay and had a good time in town. I just would have liked to know about these issue in advance so I would have know what to expect.
We travel at least once a month for 3 day road trips and stay in cabins 99% of the time. We were really looking forward to staying in this beautiful cabin/house.
Here's the Pros & Cons:
Pros:
* Location - We prefer being 10 minutes away from town to avoid the noise, traffic, light pollution, etc.
* Cabin itself was comfortable and beautifully decorated.
* Hot tub under the stars was definitely a bonus
Cons:
* Tiny shower
* Toilet had to be flushed at least 3 times for anything to go down. It seems trivial, but a good flushing toilet becomes #1 on your list of amenities when you need to go #2.
Scorpions - My family is from the Hill Country, I am no stranger to insects and critters of the area. To be clear, there were NONE INSIDE THE CABIN, however as we were sitting in the hot tub, they were literally everywhere and it was so unnerving that it ended our star gazing a little early.
* Price - After fees, fees and more fees this cabin cost us $5XX and you only get to enjoy it from 4pm to 11am. The value just wasn't there for me.
The Takeaway:
It really is a nice place and if the toilet was fixed and the scorpions were sprayed this would make the perfect romantic getaway spot.
Advice: Bring snacks and bottled waters.
The property and the cabin were perfect for a relaxing, and refreshing experience. The cabin was decorated to perfection. Very cozy and romantic, perfect for a couples retreat.
This is a very nice property. Very clean, well appointed. Good location. We enjoyed our stay. It would be a really great place to stay in cold weather. You can enjoy the fireplaces. We had a little plumbing issue, but it was taken care of quickly. I would stay here again.
The place seemed really nice when we got there, but the longer we stayed the more problems we noticed. The tub had hairs in it from other people. There was no trash bin other than the small one in the kitchen. There was an oven but no oven mitts. The humidity was always above 80% according to the thermostat. The temperature in the house would rise suddenly in the middle of the night and we'd wake up sticky from sweat. My spouses allergies acted up because of something in the house and went through alot of tissue. Also for some reason the dvd player wouldnt work on regular dvds and this was part of our plans for our evenings. We even left earlier than we planned bcause we just wanted to leave. Really wanted to like this place.
We thought that the cabin was a nice place to stay especially since it was outside of town but not to far from anything. There were a few things that we thought needed repair. There was a blade missing from the porch ceiling fan and a broken outlet cover that made it look like noone took care of repairs. The Keurig had no filter in it and the bottom of the water resivoir was white and not clear. The Keurig also did not brew properly and every cup we brewed had coffee grounds in it. Toilet was terrible and barely flushed anything down so you were afraid to go to the bathroom without flushing many times becauase it would stop up easily. TV was on a cart instead of hung on the wall so it just seemed cheap. There was no dishwasher to clean the dishes and no washer and dryer. The counter and sink were not stable so you could not sit a wine glass down or it would fall over. There was a broken window over the sink. The hot water heater is not big enough to fill the tub with hot water so you have to put some in and then wait and put more. The jets on the tub were covered up and inoperable. The Hot tub out back was not usable because the water was freezing cold. The tub is very old and had rips in the cover and scratches all over the top just not something appealling to even want to get into. We did have a great time and we made the best of it and enjoyed staying there I just wanted to voice my opinion from a customers point of view. Maybe next time we can stay at one of the other cabins on the property or at one of your other places to stay because Fredricksburg is alot of fun.
Thanks,
Michael Carter
We loved our stay and the cabin was great for our anniversary.
My only suggestion would be to cut down the dead trees and shrubs and mow around the area.
It's unsightly and a fire hazard.
I know Snowmagedon wreaked havoc in the Hill Country.
We will definitely rent again!
Thank you for a lovely peaceful weekend!
We booked this place for our 15th anniversary. Absolutely amazing. The cabin was beautiful, welcoming, and, for lack of a better word, full of charm. It was the perfect get a way for us an evening of dining in Fredericksburg and gave us an amazing place to come back to stay the night and enjoy our time together!
