A Note to Prospective Renters....
Our family rented this house for the 2015-16 holiday period. As many renters do, we relied on the comments posted by previous renters and the pictures provided by the owner. In this case, all of the comments were positive except for one and the pictures showed a fresh, new, uncluttered interior. I would like to share our observations after having rented the property.
1. The house itself is attractive and the yard and the pool are well maintained.
2. We did find a yellow (urine?) stain on one of the mattresses confirming Roseann's report.
3. We found that our family and guests who sat on the sofa did, as Roseann reported, sink terribly far. We found the reason to be that the springs were broken.
4. The biggest surprise, and irritation, for us was that one of the listed features was "a two car garage with own driveway." Yes, there was a two-car garage, but we could not park our cars in it as it was being used as storage space for tables, chairs, pictures, mattresses, linens, blinds and similar items from other rental properties.
5. When we signed the rental agreement, the property was described as having four flat-screen TVs and DVD players. When we arrived, there were only two flat-screen TVs and only one DVD player. The reference to four flat-screen TVs has since been removed from the listing.
6. The vertical blinds in the master bedroom and dinette areas did not swivel as the chains were broken.
7. The vertical blinds in the living room had 10 panels missing.
8. The windows on the double doors of the front entrance had two different window coverings, one being wooden horizontal blinds and the other being a wrinkled sheer panel with smudges.
9. There were eight burned out light bulbs, including the one below the surface of the water in the pool.
10. The temperature control unit was locked precluding us from changing the temperature to make the living area comfortable as outside conditions changed.
11. The pictures on the site were very dated. Room #3 and the pool deck pictures were misleading as they did not show what was actually there when we rented it, which we felt were lesser quality pieces than what the pictures portrayed.
I have shared these observations with Gally and suggested that he address them for the benefit of future renters. If you find any of these to be a possible problem for you as a renter, then you might want to contact Gally to find out if the issue has been taken care of before signing.
