Docâs Lake House is on a beautiful and quiet lake. My family and I regret not staying longer! It is well-stocked with anything you might need (coffee, spices, breakfast items, etc.), which was lovely! Two separate fire pits and water crafts were available for entertainment. The host met us when we arrived and showed us around. Heâs very nice and fun to talk with! It was such a wonderful stay!
We loved our stay at Docâs lake house on Lake Dunmore. The place had everything we needed and we enjoyed having access to kayaks and a paddle boat for the lake.
Missy and Doc have done a great job with this charming historic building and property. I especially enjoyed reading about the area's past and how the building started and evolved. The house is interesting, cozy and lovingly cared for. There is a large yard behind the house and another in front directly on the lake with lots of space to soak in the views and relax. Just loved it!
Doc was courteous and kind! The location was perfectly placed between Brandon and Middlebury. I was extremely cozy despite the cold and snowy weather outside. Doc helped me get out of the driveway without having to worry about the snow. The property, with all of its charm and age, was exceptionally cleaned and comfortable. My dog was also a welcome friend at this property, making my trip easy to navigate.. I would love to return!
Beautiful location...creek running behind, lake in front. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. If / when we return to the area, this will be our preferred place to stay!
Not far from Middlebury, so lots of great dining options. A small grocery store just a short distance away, however this is closed during the winter as it is primarily a summer resort destination. Personally, if I was there in winter, that is why I would like it! Must be very quiet with few residences occupied once the cold sets in.
Honest review! Doc and his girlfriend are so sweet! They live in the apartment above the lake house and gave us a tour upon arrival. This wasnât a vacation for me, and so I was extremely stressed getting off the plane. However, the quietness of the area helped alleviate any anxiety. Youâre 15ish minutes away from town, deep in the woods, away from the noise. There is a creek that runs behind the house that sounds amazing at night, with a firepit and chairs. I didnât get to kayak on the lake at all, because we were just too busy (like I said, this was not a vacation for us), but if you are visiting for pleasure, make time for that. Simply put, the Lake Dunmore area is picturesque. There is, however, no AC. Apparently, Vermonters do not have AC in their homes, and during the summer, this can get uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the house has ceiling fans and several stationary fans that you can use. There is a unique bathroom situation as well. You must go through the bathroom to get to the bedrooms. So, if you need to shower or anything else, you must lock both the bedroom doors, and the door into the kitchen, which Iâm sure can be awkward if there is more than one couple staying in the house. Regardless, this stay was five stars and the pictures of the house, just do not do it justice. I would absolutely stay again, more likely in the fall or winter months. I am very happy with my stay. If you are looking for peace and quiet, Docâs lake house is a gem.
We really enjoyed staying at this cozy, well-equipped lake house. Everything was available to make the stay an enjoyable one. The driveway entrance and property were cleared for our arrival following a significant snowstorm. Communicating with the owner was a pleasure, with every a phone call or text message answered. Who wouldâve thought seeing the solar eclipse of 2024 would be so easy and exciting! It was the owner and accommodations that made it all possible for planning the trip. We truly appreciate hospitality!

We were very pleased with this rental! It was very clean, everything worked great (kitchen, TV, shower) and the property owner was very accommodating and friendly. We didnât get to enjoy the lake due to the time of year but I plan on going back. I highly recommend!
Loved everything about this place and Doc himself. I had problems texting him though because I would get sent to the Vrbo website and from there was unable to send my msgs. IDK where they ended up but not with Doc. It didn't matter a great deal, as I was able to find the answers to my questions on the reservation confirmation but it was a bit irksome to think I was not able to contact the property owner directly had I really needed to.
We had a wonderful weekend at Docâs. The cottage has everything you could possibly need for a stay away from home. We arrived an hour early and Doc was more than happy to accommodate. He showed us around the cottage inside and out. The property is beautiful. We will definitely be back!
What makes for good vibes? I don't know, but this place has them. The owner may be part of it - he really cares that you have a good time. The place is charming, so comfortable, and right across the road from the lake. I will go again!
Fabulous place to stay, so relaxing and right across the street from a perfect lake. The hosts were incredible and the place was near perfect, having just about everything you would need. I would definitely recommend and we plan on returning next year.
Doc was a great host. Beautiful location on the lake.
Beautiful stream out back with opportunity for campfire. Perfect Vermont getaway! Couldnât ask for more!
