Bienvenue au Cottage Ellie. Ce chalet de 3 chambres réchauffera votre coeur à partir du moment où vous entrez et commencer à faire des souvenirs d'été sans fin. Juste quelques minutes du lac Michigan et situé au cœur du Pays Harbor, Ellie a tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour les vacances d'été les plus mémorables. Le plan d'étage ouvert est idéal pour les réunions de famille et des conversations sans fin. Les 3 chambres sont à l'arrière de la maison qui gardera tout le monde dormir devraient-ils besoin de trop. Une chambre est à l'arrière avec un lit queen. Chambre n ° 2 a deux couchettes doubles pour les enfants et la chambre n ° 3 a un lit double. La cuisine a tous les équipements modernes et l'intégrité du chalet d'été vous imaginez. Il dispose d'un immense véranda pour manger et salon. La cour est assez grand pour tout type de jeux et un grand foyer pour feux de camp, des histoires et des étoiles. Si le soleil et le sable est ce que vous êtes à la recherche de la tête vers le bas pour le lac Michigan et profiter de Cherry Beach où les plages sont larges et sablonneuses. Amazing stay at the cottage

We had the best family vacation at Ellie’s cottage. The cottage is so charming and comfortable. It had everything we needed and was very practical for a family with toddler. The woods nearby, beautiful quiet cherry beach, delicious restaurants just a few minutes away: everything was perfect!

The property was pet friendly, including the mice that left droppings in the kitchen drawers and in the bathroom. The Management company for the property took extremely long to communicate and we still havent heard back on a few items. Because of the lack of attention we received and the condition of the property, i would NOT RECOMMEND this location.

This was our second time staying at Ellie’s Cottage. It’s a cute place and a great property for our needs. Back porch is great. The property definitely needs some weeding though! The weeds are growing into the windows! LOL We did clean a bit when we got there bc the floors did have a lot of pet fur and sand on them, but that didn’t bother us. We know dogs are allowed at this property, which is fantastic, and we were going to bring our dogs, but ended up not bringing them. Only recommendation I have is that there should be at minimum some sort of spray to wipe down the counters, a few garbage bags for guests to use, and a roll or two of paper towels. But we did enjoy our stay and will be back-I’m sure!

A classic getaway

A no frills lake house experience. We enjoyed most of our trip at the beach and surrounding attractions. There were beach items available for use which was helpful. This is a quiet area (except the house next door was under construction with workers daily during our time). Nevertheless we enjoyed our time.

Property is not as pictured

The property is overgrown and in disrepair outside. The fire pit is not as pictured. There are multiple missing tiles in the bathroom. There were no trash bags or paper towels/dish towels anywhere in the house and only 1/2 roll of TP. While these were not mentioned as included, I have never stayed at a property through VRBO where they were not available in limited supply. The furniture and beds were relatively comfortable. The area was quiet and location convenient to restaurants and beaches.

don't stay here

I am submitting a formal request for a partial refund. I will send a list of complaints including a bathroom shower with mold and missing tiles,dangerous without mats, could not take a shower for the entire 5 days. No mats, no soap,no wash cloths. advertised fire pit which was a selling point for us but it was just a hole filled with sticks, grass, and trash.

Cute, cozy and clean. Great screened in porch and big dining room table. Washer and dryer worked well (bring laundry soap). Kitchen lacked basic cooking essentials, like a baking tray. Had to bake hashbrown patties and breadsticks on a muffin tin. Stove does not work well at all. We cooked one breakfast and it was a pain so I would not reccomend cooking in this home. No dish towels to dry the dishes. Beds were comfortable. No rails on the top bunk beds. The one bathroon is very small. Shower is clean and functional but if I'm being picky... there were tiles missing so we were a little turned off by that. With that said, would actually stay here again, we all enjoyed it and were quite comfortable.

A sweet spot

We loved the house and neighborhood. The long table adjacent to the kitchen was a great gathering spot. Super close to beaches and all the attractions along Red Arrow highway. Plusses: Washer /dryer, air conditioning, sweet decorations, pet friendly layout and furnishings, comfy cute linens, decent mattresses on all beds, private back room with queen bed, huge modern spotless refrigerator/freezer. A few things that didn't work well for us, but could be fine for others: the bedroom with two bunk beds left insufficient head room and floor space for my adult children, so nearly unusable for any of them; limited comfy sofa space for hanging out together. Negatives: there is poison ivy in the yard; porch screens need repair; electric stove is old and thus a bit hard to cook on.

The exterior of the house and the porch were poorly maintained. Looked ramshackle. Screen porch door was off its hinge and the screen had tears in it- one that a squirrel was using to access the porch. Lots of spider webs. Interior was clean, comfortable and old. Again, in need of maintenance. A dresser in one bedroom, fell over when my husband moved it to look for a socket. The dresser feet were old and soft and cracked, falling forward. Would not stay here again.

Poorly managed

The property has potential but was severely neglected during the time of our stay. When we arrived, we immediately saw several signs of disrepair: there is a note written on a piece of cardboard saying that the dishwasher was broken. The blinds in one of the bedrooms were broken so that it was impossible to have privacy, a large chunk of tile had fallen off of the shower and black mold and mildew lined the tiles and grout,a piece of metal on the stovetop was broken and bent skyward, the air conditioning never function properly and was unable to cool the house below 77°. There was laundry left in both the washer and the dryer when we arrived so we had linens to fold upon arrival. Although the dishwasher was broken, the house was completely devoid of supplies: absolutely no toilet paper, no paper towels, no dish soap for the handwashing we hadn’t expected, no laundry detergent, and no bar soap. We found ourselves searching at grocery stores several times so that we could purchase the items that were missing for our stay. The bunk beds were rickety and clearly not safe. There was a strong odor of mildew from the ceiling of the mudroom. We communicated these problems to Monica, the property manager, and she assured us that our cleaning fee would be refunded. After several messages to Monica, we have yet to see a refund. This refund was promised nearly 3 weeks ago.

Disappointing experience

My family of 4 stayed at Ellie’s cottage for two weeks. Cons - Kitchen light consistently malfunctioned and acted as a strobe light making all of us dizzy. I contacted the property manager multiple times. She promised several times that a handyman would come to fix it and no one ever showed up. I sent her a video and she again said someone would come out. Never heard from her again. The toilet was also leaking 24/7 making a drip drip noise. Again, no handyman for two weeks. The screened in porch had a huge tear in one of the screens making it impossible to spend time in there which would have been wonderful for our family (lots of big bugs). Pros - solid internet which was critical because the kids were in school and we were both working. Also, there were fun board games to play. Kitchen was well stocked. Dishwasher, washer and dryer all functioned well.

Summer vacation

We have been to this area before and the kids love the beach and blueberry picking. Easy drive from Chicago area. Monica's home was clean and very close to the beach. Plan on going to Warren dunes if your kids like to play in the sand as the beachfront at Cherry beach is limited. Great area to get away to.

It was clean and had all the modern conveniences. I did notice that repairs needed to be made to the exterior of the home. The back steps were in disrepair and dangerous. The landscaping also needed to be trimmed back to make access to the backyard easier. A front exterior doorway light should also be installed. It would also have been nice to have received an update as to the condition of the beaches. The beach that was outlined in the information provided on the website was inaccurate. That beach area had been closed down since last season according to homeowners in that area which meant we had to find another beach access and travel a little further to get there. Other than that, we all enjoyed our stay and the accommodations.

Adorable Gem

The cottage was the perfect size for a large group on a budget. Then there were all the little notions throughout the house that added a personal touch: loads of board games, hundres of legos for the kids, books for children, birding books, the chalk board with a basket of colorful chalk, new dishwasher, french door refridgerator, spacious enclosed outdoor dining area. Large back yard where the kids could roam, explore and run free. What a nice surprise all the extras were!

A very sweet little cottage, close to everything.

We had a great stay over the Labor Day weekend. The house was nicely outfitted, screened porch was a great place to hang out and there is super fast WiFi, which was nice. Best for a couple or a family with younger kids, I think. And a nice nature trail a few steps away. Monica was very responsive to our needs.

Lovely getaway cottage for families!

My husband and our two kids and I loved staying in this sweet cottage with its huge backyard, wonderful porch, and homey charm. So convenient to New Buffalo, the Warren Dunes, Sawyer, and all our favorite stops along Red Arrow Highway. Lots of beach supplies to use, board games to play, and bunk beds too! We loved using the backyard fire pit for S'mores and loved sitting out under the stars at night. When we accidentally left a precious stuffed animal behind, Monica was so helpful and understanding and got it back to us in the mail very quickly. Would definitely stay here again! Would be great for a girls' weekend or a couple's getaway as well!

Monica started North Star Properties with one goal. To better serve the Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan Area with a concierge service mentality for short term rentals. From the North suburbs of Detroit she was bred to be in the real estate industry. Both of her parents were entrepreneurs. She watched as her father built Gauthier Corporation, a very successful construction company, which is still running as strong as ever. Her mother started a cleaning company that meticulously made sure every home shined like the top of the Chrysler building. Working for both of her parents growing up, she understands the drive and passion it takes to achieve success. Prior to starting North Star Properties, she sold real estate on the Northside of Chicago before moving to the Dunes and making a permanent home.
