Charming year round cottage with large PRIVATE beach in the peaceful woods
A charming 3 bedroom 1 and 1/2 bath home on a private lane just a few minutes walk from the beach. This year round cottage has its own private beach for the dozen homes on the lane. Large front yard and driveway for easy parking. Fireplace and large great room with front deck for eating or relaxing evenings. High speed internet handles multiple zoom calls and the house is set up to handle working remotely. Family friendly and well equipped kitchen with new appliances. Walking distance to the Swedish Bakery & Luisa's Cafe. Just minutes from Warren Dunes, Sawyer Garden Market and New Buffalo. The best of the woods and lake all in one cozy cottage.
We really enjoyed our trip and the property was in a great location. It was in close proximity to Warren Dunes State Park and other fun activities for the kids. The private beach access was a short walk down the road and we had the beach to mostly ourselves for the week. It was one of our favorite family vacations!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. It was a great place for us to access local beaches and shopping. The walkable beach was a little far, but it was very nice. The house was very comfortable, a bit rustic, but nice. The only downsides were that the Air conditioners were a bit loud and the mosquitoes were bad since it is in the wooded area, but it is well stocked and very comfortable. We had a great time and would definitely.
Clean and well-supplied on both consumables and everyday items. The air-conditioning units worked well and each unit had itâs own control. The double bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was nicely updated.
Older home with 3 nice bedrooms. Small kitchen but open to dining and living areas. Master bedroom spacious but folding door to half master bath did not close completely limiting privacy. Window was over sink and mirror placed on wall between toilet and sink was a little odd. Nice beach within walking distance.
The house was great for our family of six. We have kids ranging from 2 to 11 and they loved the feeling of being tucked away and near the beach. The house has plenty of beds and space.
The private beach was nice, but we mainly visited the nearby public beaches because the walk to the private beach was too much with little kids and all our beach gear. The closest public beach is less than a 2 minute drive, and others are only 5-10, so not a problem.
The host is very responsive and helpful. All in all, a great stay!
I will start by saying that I would definitely stay here again. The location was excellent, conveniently located near a wonderful bakery and within walking distance (5-7 min) to a small private beach. Itâs a pleasant walk unless you have a lot to carry because parts of the trail are steep and somewhat eroded. Itâs not strenuous but one could easily fall, especially in the dark. That said, the beach access is the main reason to stay here. And well worth it.
The house is roomy and VERY well stocked. I would say it sleeps 6-7 comfortably. It could sleep more (or larger people) if the beds were larger because all the rooms are large enough to accommodate kings/queens.
Towels, sheets, kitchen items , etc were all in good shape and plentiful. I have stayed and lots of rental homes and this was one of the best stocked homes Iâve seen, with one exception. There was no pan or skillet for eggs or pancakes. But appliances and even basics (sugar, coffee, salt, spices, etc) were all there. Nothing fancy but everything you need for a short stay.
Speaking of nothing fancyâ everything in the home is older (think antique shops and yard sale finds) but that was ok for us. This is closer to indoor camping than to a modern resort. We really enjoyed it. Thatâs said, even if one is not the sort to update for updatingâs sake, the wicker (outdoor?) furniture in the living room should probably be replaced with something more comfortable.
I have two more suggestionsâ neither of which ruined our stay by any means. First, given that the beach access is a major draw, and given how well equipped the house is in every other way, a couple of umbrellas and some chairs would be much appreciated. There could be a charge if they disappear, like for anything else in the home.
Second , the house needs new/better window dressing. There is very little privacy (especially at night and with new neighbors) and no way to keep light out of the bedrooms in the mornings.
All in all, the host was responsive and easy to communicate with, the house was priced appropriately and the location was perfect.
Once again, our family enjoyed it and would definitely stay there again.
This property worked well for our ladies weekend. It is an older home which needs some upkeep but was overall clean. Beds were good- most furniture was wicker. No items like soap, personal products or bottled water provided so will need to bring. The absolute best thing was the access to private beach and lake view- gorgeous.
We had a wonderful experience staying at the house. The location was good and close to the beach. We enjoyed the area and mostly the beach it is beautiful.
We had such a good stay here with adults and little ones. The cottage is well stocked with just about everything you need. The beds were comfortable and the place is charming. There are so many other things close by as well - we ate out and went to Warren dunes. The bakery is fantastic and we loved the neighboring towns.
Great house for a girls weekend...plenty of room for everyone! We really enjoyed our stay here and loved the location and how well stoked the house was with essentials. Close to a few cute towns with a lot of stuff to do in the area.Within walking distance to the beach so we could enjoy views of the lake.
Clean quiet and a short walk to the lake. Nice sandy beach. Clean water. Great area for swimming and relaxing. Would be nice to have tv or a DVD player for the rainy days, tv has no entertaining channels
The location is really fantastic. Close to Warren Dunes which is a fun outing for the family and New Buffalo which has some nice dining options. The private beach was gorgeous. The kitchen is very well equipped and the beds are comfortable.
The property is older and could use a bit more care in cleaning and ant control. That being said, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this area of Michigan for vacationing.
We really enjoyed the open layout of the living space, spacious rooms and everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Feels like home - a library of books to read, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a beautiful setting. The beach is just down the lane and is large- at times we were the only ones there! Fell in love with the area and are hoping to rent this home again for our next vacation.
We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful cottage. Easy breezy check in and out process. The house was clean, furniture were comfortable and rooms were spacious. Kitchen was very well equipped. Appliances are new. It had all essential cooking, baking staples, fresh coffee and tea.
There is a wonderful library in the cottage, which makes me want to go back during fall or spring and read all the novels in the wonderful room, surrounded by big windows and a skylight, taking in all the green of the woods.
The private beach is a 5 minute walk away from the house and is really nice. There are many family-friendly places to visit nearby. We mostly enjoyed the beach and the woods, and only visited Warren Dunes the last day.
Owner, Martha, is very responsive and caring. She had a kettle shipped over as soon as we asked her and we received it during our stay.
My parents retired to this home long ago and passed it along to their children. As the next generation, we continue to enjoy this area with our children and grandchildren and plan to summer on the shores of Lake Michigan for years to come.
