If you want peace and quiet and beautiful views then this is the place, well sited to explore the Dordogne by car. Small but we had everything that was needed,
We spent 5 days last week and the little cortage is well located ! It is at the end of a country road with a wonderful view of the fields and a castle !
The place is very calm and peaceful.
The cottage is nice, big enough for 2 people and a weekend.
A special thank you to the host who's really nice and helpful and do her best to make you stay comfortable.
Beautiful location overlooking fields and forest, with a chateau across the valley. Within walking distance of Rouffignac, with supermarket, shops and restaurant. Fabulous places to visit nearby. Property flooded with light, very clean and size ample for two, although shower room on the small side. Pool great for the hot weather we had. Karen friendly and knowledgeable.
From the beginning of our enquiry, right through to the departure time, we were made most welcome by the owners Karen and Steven. This was the holiday we most needed and we could not have picked a better place to relax and wind down. The property was everything we thought it would be and a bit more. Everything was as it was advertised and the gite was celan and well maintained. The village is a 5 minute walk away, there is a good selection of essential shops and places to buy food and groceries and whilst we had a car, fuel. The restaurants are good and we loved the Sunday food market. With such friendly local people, it made it easy to start conversations with strangers. The area is blessed with many walking trails and road walks to nearby other villages such as Plazac and Fleurac which are around 5 kilometres away. The accomodations provided to us were clean and comfortable and we had what we needed. The owners are a good source of local knowledge and give generously of their time to help out with great places to go to off the normal tourist track.
When you stay in this place get to appreciate the quiet and beautiful late afternoon/evening sunsets. The loveable family dog, Scooby, will soon adopt you and possibly you will adopt the baby chickens like we did. It makes for a very down to earth visit that suddenly comes to an end with a little sadness, but fond memories nevertheless.
Thank you to Karen and Steven for being such great hosts. We can only but recommend your property.

The gite has a lovely outlook over the valley to the chateau. We stayed for four days in winter and were told after booking that there was an extra 7 euros per day for heating. This should have been mentioned in the information prior to confirmation. Our welcome was businesslike without being warm and inviting. The gite itself was quite pleasant with a very basic kitchen, tiny bathroom, huge bedroom with a tiny TV. Supplies for the kitchen and bathroom were minimal which meant we had to purchase our own and leave it behind as we are travelling. On the plus side, the nightly rate was very affordable.
Over the years lots of people have asked why we decided to move to France. The only answer we have ever really been able to come up with is that âwe fancied a bit of a changeâ. And thatâs really all there was to it. At the time we had very little understanding of the country or its people, naively thinking, âHow different can it be ? Itâs only across the channelâ. Stupid right ?
But that was such a long time ago. Here we are now, 20 years later, living in a part of the world that really is truly amazing. The scenery, even after all this time, can still take your breath away. We enjoy some of the best food and wine in the world. We have the space to grow our own vegetables, rear our own animals and have settled into country life in a way that we never could have imagined.
But most of all itâs the quiet that really makes a difference. Whether itâs a warm summerâs morning or a crisp winterâs day, it will always be peaceful and very very quiet. But donât just take our word for it, come and see for yourselfâŠ.
What makes this property really special are the views and use of your own private pool. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine on a summers evening, watching the spectacular sunsets over the valley and the chateau, will give you holiday memories to take away and cherish forever.
