We spent three weeks here exploring Bologna and the surrounding area - also took day trips to Pisa, Florence, Verona and the Mediterranean Sea. The family are very kind and gracious hosts. There were five of us (parents and three daughters) and their was plenty of room. Even though the village of Gerghenzanno is in a rural area, there are many very nice supermarkets and restaurants in the area
We enjoyed our stay in this very big comfortable house. The hosts are amazing - super service, very helpful, very caring and very attentive.
We would come back any time again!
The villa is a gorgeous old building set in a quiet village. It is only 5 minutes from a handy supermarket and 10 minutes to the train station. You do need a car. The villa is very spacious with large bedrooms and living area. This provides a sense of comfort and relaxation. A kitchen has been installed into the upper level for guests. It is equipped with most requirements but did not have a kettle or a microwave. The family live in the lower levels, however this was not made clear in the information on HomeAway and is quite an oversight. It was not an issue as the host Maria was very welcoming despite our language barrier - made good use of the translate app! The bedding and towels need an update and more regular change. We had a very pleasant stay making a number of day trips to Bologna by train and driving to Ravenna, Modena and surrounding areas. A great way to see more of the productive farmland of the region.
