This property was very clean and neat. Easy to find restaurants, activities, and hiking near by. We enjoyed our stay. Probably too small for more than 4 people.
Exactly what we were looking for. Our dog loved being able to join us and sit on the screened in patio. House's location was perfect. Neighborhood was quiet and views of the bay were lovely.
The cabin was older but offered plenty of room for our group! Beds were comfortable. Cabin smelled a bit musty, and bathrooms could use some updating, but we enjoyed our stay. You can cross the street to enjoy beautiful sunsets right by the water, and we loved walking in the lovely neighborhood.
Great location, we could see the bay from the window. Bring some fans as the air conditioner had a hard time keeping up, but with the bay being so close I cooled off fast in the night. Would rent it again.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Birchmont. The home was clean and comfortable. We loved being in a neighborhood setting tucked away from the busy-ness of the tourist areas yet only a short drive to get to any activity. The neighborhood was lovely and quiet, and we enjoyed beautiful views of the bay and sunsets while sitting in the yard. The yard is surrounded by a charming short stone wall that worked perfectly to allow our small pups the freedom to safely play the yard. Super fun weekend all around.
We love Door County and have been there many times. The location of the cottage is great. Beautiful views of the water, and the neighborhood is quiet.
The cottage it's self is very old, and in need of updates. It was very clean though, considering the hard iron water and musty smell.
For the cost of the rental, we expected a little bit more.
Overall, everything was in working order, and we had a great time.
Thanks!
I was hoping the old reviews were going to be that...and the property was going to be better than people said.
I can live with a place that isn't updated. The place was clean, and certainly not full of amenities. It was also really close to the water and the night skies were great to look at all the stars.
But the beds were so uncomfortable. We didn't get a good nights sleep for any of the nights. One of the fitted sheets didn't fit, and we could have used some extra blankets with the nights being cooler.
Wi-fi also was spotty as some people have said. I could see it as being a charming place, but it wasn't very comfortable. I can't comment on the TV service because we never used it.
A nice little house. Lacking electrical outlets. Also, unpleasant smell throughout. Maybe from an oil furnace.
The front door wasnât open when we arrived. We had to do some detective work to get someone to open the door for us.
Also, the wifi is woefully intermittent. Had to reboot every hour.
We have been visiting Egg Harbor for decades and have always enjoyed staying in properties owned by Cindy's and Emily's family. We highly recommend them as hosts and for their long-time commitment to making Egg Harbor a great place to visit.
Green Bay can be viewed from this rustic property. The sunsets were spectacular. The neighborhood is also beautiful -- lots of wooded areas with wild flowers. We felt like we were staying in a cabin in the woods. We had a very enjoyable, quiet stay, in which we walked our dog, explored Egg Harbor, read books, and most importantly, chilled out. The only downside was that the wifi system kept dropping its connection and we had to reboot numerous times. Because the property is older, there are not many outlets so finding a connection for a CPAP near the master bed was a challenge. All in all, we had a very nice time!
We arrived in the dark and could not find the place because the house number on the confirmation was on the wrong street. There was no outside light when you enter the house with four steep concrete steps. Very difficult with young kids. The house was fine but the mattresses are old and really need to be replaced. We had four adults and two kids staying but only four bath towels were provided. The cabinet and dressers have a very old musty smell. The couch and chairs were better smelling. Only soap was in the bathrooms. I at least expected some shampoo. No paper towels nor any spices or salt and pepper to cook with. Thank goodness there was toilet paper! There was an older grill and smoker but not a place to have a fire outside. It seemed like every place around had a fire pit. Basically it was a place to sleep with no frills .
This little cottage must be very old based on the weights in the double hung windows. I imagine decades ago it had an outhouse. Some time ago, what had been the kitchen entry was converted into a bathroom with tub and shower. Later, a second bathroom was squeezed in between 2 bedrooms.
We went there with another retired couple. They choose the "kitchen bath" because of the tub., and we used the other one. It's not modern, but everything works well enough, and the location is fabulous. It's less than a block to the lake, and there is a little bench there to enjoy the sunsets. I loved the screen porch on the front. I took my woodcarving and sat there practicing. The concrete floor on the porch was a breeze to sweep up!
The hostesses were very responsive to every question we had. Depending on how many we travel with we would definitely consider staying again.
The place had a musty smell that didn't go away even we opened the windows. Great location for us and our dog. Could use a little updating of the house. Enjoyed being able to see the lake.
The cottage was clean and lovely. The owners responded right away when I thought there was a plumbing problem (there wasnât it was just condensation) the beds were very comfortable. I only wish there were some chairs outside so we could look at the stars. I wish I were back there right now instead of 108 in the desert
4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) and our senior dog stayed at the cabin. It was very clean and cozy. We did have issues with the internet, which was only an issue because one of us was trying to tie up some loose ends at work. However, if you are there to disconnect, it is not something you need to worry about. The location was also great and we enjoyed the beach (short drive away), exploring Egg Harbor and other places on the peninsula, and appreciated having our senior dog with us.
Great week at Birchmont. Great location, just a very short walk to see the sunset. House is comfortable and clean. Furniture is a little older, but functional. Quite neighborhood and friendly. Will definitely be back next year.

I was born and raised in Egg Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin. I attended grade school in Egg Harbor and Gibraltar H.S. in Fish Creek, and I am a UW - Madison graduate. Our family business has been the Alpine Resort and Golf Course in Egg Harbor. After 100 years of ownership, the business was sold to a new owner. Our family continues to rent our eight vacation houses in Egg Harbor seasonally. I have two sons and live in Sturgeon Bay. We have a golden retriever that is very active and playful and he loves to swim.
The Birchmont cottage has been in our family from the beginning. It's close to all the great things Egg Harbor (and Door County) has to offer. It's only available for vacations in the spring, summer and fall. My family is very protective of this house and keep it very clean and well maintained.
This house is a cute "cottage" located in an area of private summer homes with lots of trees and walking trails and it's right across the road from the water with public access to the water. I'ts just outside of the harbor of Egg Harbor in an area called "Point Beach" where the summer neighbors are friendly and fun. It's just a short walk to the Egg Harbor beach. There is a house located between Birchmont and the water and you are able to walk across the road to the water. Murphy Park swimming beach is in the other direction about two miles from Birchmont.
Most of our guests stay for five to twelve days. We are open to longer term rentals of this house. If you are interested in an extended stay, please contact us.
