Beautiful spot on the lake. A simple cabin, well loved, so if you donât need anything fancy, they have all the necessities AND kayaks for use on the lake.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Check in was easy and the host gave great directions to the cottage which was helpful as cell service in this area is poor. The cottage was accurately described and is very well stocked with almost everything you can think of besides the actual food for your trip. Felt very much like we were staying at a family cottage. The view from the dock was amazing!
The cabin was just as we expected. We wanted peace and quiet and it was just what we were looking for. Nestled in the woods with a waterfront view it was truly perfect. Away from the crowds of Bar Harbor but close enough where itâs no problem to drive into Acadia or Bar Harbor. We also enjoyed seeing some of the more local sights. Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary was wonderful in Elsworth and Fogtown Brewery had yummy pizza! We enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, and paddle board daily! We had a family of otters greet us a few mornings. Mike was an exceptional host! He was always quick to respond to any questions we had. We really couldnât have asked for a better stay! Recommend 100%
The yard, view, lake, dock and fire pit were great! Communication was great and prompt and the price was good. Unfortunately, the cottage was dirty. We donât mind old or outdated but it was dirty. Appliances were not cleaned and some didnât work. Donât think the blankets have ever been washed. Floors were dirty and rugs werenât vacuumed. Itâs a shame because the location and large deck were great.
Exactly what our family was looking for. A quiet lakeside getaway close to Acadia. Cabin was rustic and clean. Lake was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.
Loved staying here with my family. Two children ages 4 & 7 loved the pier overlooking molasses pond. Fishing was great (sunfish), grilled, fires at night, heard loons and close to Bar Harbor. Shops are close by including lobster restaurants for take out! Everything was great! Cottage has everything needed! Money well spent for unforgettable memories!
We had a lovely time and your cabin. The location was beautiful. We enjoyed it very much. Also the nature and the lake were beautiful. We had a lovely swim and my wife a short canoe trip. It was clean, cosy, spacious and the beds were good. Only the fact that the bedrooms had no ceiling was our only point of critique. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would have liked to stay longer.
Had a great vacation in Maine. Cottage has everything you need. Our 12 and 8 year boys had a good time. They loved the board games and the lake side. Very good location and value. Kids want to go back already!
Thanks
10/10
Understand that this is a quintessential rustic cabin in Northern Maine. If you understand that: you will thoroughly enjoy this cabin. A slice of Maine cultural history.
The property manager has excellent communication and was so kind to mail my daughterâs clothing back to us!
The property is everything you would ever want and need for an isolated cabin on a lake. I didnât mind the 45 min drive to Acadia and back, as it showcases the diversity of Northern Maine (farms, lobsters/sea, forests).
My parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We spent 2 days and 3 nights here during our trip to Acadia National Park. We couldnât have chosen a better place for our stay. It was in a beautiful location, right on the water. My dad and I had our coffee out on the dock every morning. If we ever make our way up to Maine again (weâre from Saratoga, NY), we will definitely be looking to stay here.
Great little cabin that takes you back in time with countless vintage accents. We had a great time staying here. Kids braved the cold water and jumped off the rock dock. Loved the wood stove at night. Very quiet and peaceful. Thanks.
We had a nice stay. Itâs very secluded and peaceful! The only complaint I have is there was no AC and it was quite warm and there is no mention in the listing about no AC. There were fans available which helped, but we just wish we had known ahead of time. Other than that it was great and the drive to Acadia was easy each day!
The cabin was very well maintained. The cleanliness was great. The property owner was very attentive. We were one house off when we arrived and Mike the property owner arrived at the cabin to make sure it was unlocked for us.
Very well done Thank you very much and God Bless!
Charming rustic cabin in the woods, right on the lake.
Incredible location right on the lake. Listing and photos do not do it justice. Loved our 3 night stay here. Sunny early Fall weather meant we could swim in the lake, canoe and kayak with supplied boats (inc lifejackets if needed). Good sized wooded garden leading down to lake. Cabin was a good size and charmingly rustic, queen bed a little soft and lumpy and sofa also a little old, but didnât detract from a well kitted out cabin in the woods, wood burning stove for chilly evenings and roasting smores on the fire pit outside, beautiful sunrises l, loved the private âislandâ rock to sunbathe on and easy access to Acadia National Park, would definitely recommend.
This cabin was absolutely fantastic for our first trip to Maine !!!
It was SOOO off the beaten path, with excellent ridiculously close access to the fishing dock (which we used and caught many fish) and kayak-launching shoreline (which we didn't have time to use).
The cabin and interior are super dated (think 70's), but also immaculately clean (we went barefoot and never felt a speck of dust) so it was absolutely charming! I loved seeing games/activities/posters/ utensils from my childhood :)
Main bed was too small for our liking, but with 3 twins in the kids' room we were able to all sleep comfortably.
We brought a sound machine, which was on-point since there are no ceilings separating the rooms; just walls.
It would have been nice to have basic toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner) because once we figured out we needed that, we were way too far from a store to "run get some". We all used the hand soap provided for our first shower, and then we left our shampoo/soap for the next guy in hopes to improve his experience :)
I would LOVE to come back and stay here, but I would NOT use it as my hub for Acadia---it took us a full hour ONE WAY to get in and out of Acadia each day, which felt like a waste of precious time either chilling at the cabin, or exploring Acadia.
This cabin is HIGHLY recommended for a complete getaway--I hope to come back! Price is reasonable!
BTW: There is Keurig machine but no K cups so bring your own :)

Gorgeous Property, Responsive Host, Could Be Cleaner
This property was absolutely gorgeous, tucked away but not too hard to find, the lake was lovely and the deck was just magical. The house is dated but cute, comfortable fit for the 4 of us. The check-in process was a bit confusing because there weren't any instructions and, when we arrived, the property manager was inside the house. The property manager was very friendly and responsive, especially when we lost power in a storm. He came by quickly to bring us firewood for the wood stove and to hook up a generator for us which we really appreciated. Our only complaint was that the house was not well-cleaned. Most of the surfaces were sticky, many of the dishes were poorly washed or in poor condition, some surfaces were dusty. There were odd items left around including a used toothbrush in the bathroom and a pot of baked beans left in the fridge. That being said, the beds were clean and comfortable and we did enjoy our stay!

Dark and dank
I hate to leave a negative review but I have to be honest. The cabin was a huge disappointment. It didn't help that we had rain which contributed to the extreme dampness of the property. I was unable to sit on the upholstered furniture as it was very wet to the touch! The bathroom floor stayed continuously wet. The bedrooms did not have ceilings, everything was open. I think this definitely should have been mentioned in the property description. I reached out to the property manager and suggested the owners invest in some sort of dehumidifying system. He seemed less than concerned that our stay was uncomfortable. We left three days early. Cannot recommend!!!
While the location was amazing and we really enjoyed swimming around the boulders, the house left much to be desired. The mattresses were intolerable. They should be thrown out. The house was dirty. Dirt and cobwebs. I found mouse poop in the silverware tray, ants in the house and there was even a small mushroom growing in the bathroom.
This place could be amazing, but it needs to meet the basic requirements of providing a comfortable bed to sleep upon and a clean and well-appointed house.
The location is really wonderful. If the owner gets new mattresses and hires a professional to do a thorough cleaning it will be doable. If he doesn't do that I would suggest one bring a tent.
Lastly, and this is beyond the owner's control, the neighbor to one side must be building his own camp as he had a large tractor and a saw going much of the time. That was unfortunate and cut into the peace and quiet.
Despite all this we still managed to enjoy our week of vacation, saw loons and eagles, and kayaked. We had to leave early, however, as the beds were really intolerable.
