Lovely large house with everything that you could need. Perfect for two families sharing. Great location being an easy walk into Bergerac. Hosts were super helpful and friendly.
A lovely large property situated close to Bergerac historic town (15 min walk)
Superbly presented Chateau which is very well equipped. Lovely pool, BBQ area and gardens.
Owners Phyllis and Fred could not have been more helpful. Thoroughly recommend a stay.
We had a fantastic holiday in Bergerac. The property is so well equiped with everything we could ever wish for to make our stay so special.
The property is in a great location and a 20 minute walk in to the centre of Bergerac allowed us to dine and explore this beautiful location.
This is an amazing property.
We stayed here as 2 families of 4 (8 in total). The layout was perfect upstairs with 4 rooms that can be either doubles or singles.
The house has everything you need for a great stay. All the tech you need as well as large cooking area both inside and out.
Swimming pool with pool house is well set and out and a great way to spend the day when not looking around the local area.
House is well situated to easily get to a variety of trips out for the day such as kayaking down the Dordogne, visiting the day and also night markets.
Cannot recommend this place enough as the hosts where helpful and friendly.
Great stay and may return in the future!
We have been impressed with the kindness of our hosts, the accommodation, and the location.
The house has been lovingly restored to a high standard by Phyllis and Frederic and lacks for nothing. It has 5 large bedrooms rooms, one downstairs good for those with mobility issues. There are 3 bathrooms. The staircases are quite steep. All linens are provided. Electric gated with parking for several cars. There are large gardens with lots of games and bikes available. An enclosed swimming pool with shower room/toilet. An outside kitchen BBQ area with seating set in the shade from the evening sun.
Stunning Bergerac is a15 minute walk away. There is something on most of the time. We were sorry to say goodbye and our welcome here and enjoyment throughout ensures our return in the future.
Beynac, Eyzies (museum and the area is an archaeologists dream), Monpazier, the Sunday Market at Issigeac, Paunat are nclose by.
Very friendly and helpful. House had everything we needed including bikes with helmets so that we could cycle to the local Bakery every morning for fresh bread and croissants. Loved our stay here.
We had a wonderful break as a family in this beautiful house. We were two adults and three children, two teenagers and an 11-year-old. The house is immaculate and was beautifully presented with many of the little touches that you donât necessarily expect with a rental. The fact that it is sometimes operated as a bed and breakfast meant that the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with crockery and utensils. Also, the utility area was very large and well specified. The bedrooms and bathrooms are also beautifully finished, with very comfy beds and modern fittings in the bathrooms. The pool and other outdoor areas are lovely and the garden is a really good size and very usable, with plenty of shade, if desired. Our hosts were very helpful while we were there, but not intrusive. There are no material downsides to this property. A quick check of location reveals that it is on a reasonably busy road close to the centre of Bergerac. In many respects, this is an advantage, but it does mean that there is some traffic noise. There is a small apartment block that overlooks the garden from one angle, but we did not see a soul on any of the balconies while we were there. Overall, we would not hesitate to visit again.
Beautiful home which was very comfortable for 8 of us.
We had a great time in this large Bergerac house. Large and comfortable. Frederic and his mother were very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. The house is well situated close to town and the river. The only concern was that the staircases to upper levels were both very narrow and spiral so may present some difficulty for people with compromised mobility. The meal that France made for us on our last evening was delicious and showed off local cuisine beautifully. Thanks Phyllis and Frederic for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
The first time we came to Bergerac was 1984, and instantly feel in love with the area. It is so full of traditions and has so much culture. The history is amazing. The wine and food specialities of the area are like no other. We knew we would end up here one day.
The best thing about the Grande Maison Bourgeoise is the location. It is walking distance to downtown Bergerac, full of wonderful restaurants, great shopping and fun activities. The weekly market has fresh produce from locals, who live in Bergerac. You can walk or ride bikes everywhere. Bergerac has bike paths all over the city and along the Dordogne river.
