The location of the apartment was good, very close to the beaches and shops. The small car park was great so could park outside and load and unload car. The apartment was comfortable, had everything we needed for the week and was very spacious.
We had another very enjoyable and relaxing stay in Barnacles. It is such a lovely bright and airy apartment, in a great location with amazing views. Great communication with Charlotte. Very much looking forward to staying again later in the year.
Clean, great view, good area and had a great time. The only disappointing parts were a) receiving the key by post (lucky we were not stopping somewhere else on the way) and having to return the keys at our own expense (why not leave a stamped addressed envelope, b) One toilet roll for two for one week. Bring your own!
Our 3rd visit, and we love it even more each time! Lovely flat - warm, welcoming, comfy and tastefully colourful. Great sea views from bedroom and lounge. Felt very much at home and look forward to returning!
The flat was everything and more. For a one bedroom flat it was extremely spacious, well equipped, comfortable, very clean and excellent value for money. Location perfect for town, beach front and incredible coastal walks. We will definitely book again if we revisit the area. Many thanks Charlotte
This was our second visit to Barnacles, and it was another wonderful experience. Comfortable, welcoming and very convenient (as long as you don't mind the hill - but there's a good cake shop at the bottom!) - the views are as good as they look in the pictures. Charlotte was super friendly and helpful. We hope to be back again!
Cosy and comfortable floor a winter stay. The lounge is big with 2 enormous windows overlooking the town and sea. The flat is filled with original and interesting art work and furnishings, which makes it feel very homely.
The apartment was light, airy and well equipped with fantastic views. We also loved the artwork. We enjoyed our short break so much we have already booked again. Thank you Charlotte for being a great host.
Spacious lounge and bedroom (two rooms), bathroom all working and a cozy kitchen diner. Multiple windows with super blinds and curtains with sea view. Own parking space. Super clean and well looked after -
This is a spacious, warm and comfortable place to stay. Just a short walk from the town centre. Swanage is a perfect base for those who enjoy walking and bird-watching.
Soon after I retired from the Department for International Development in 2012, we were lucky enough find this long dreamt of toe hold in Purbeck. In addition to just enjoying being here, I'm fully involved in Purbeck Art Weeks Festival and the International Chamber Music Festival. I started out life studying music (cello), then changed tack and went to Camberwell College of Art in London to do a textiles degree. I started out as a self-employed weaver - then went to the Middle East where I spent several years working with Bedouin weavers in Oman and the Negev in Israel, and have since worked in all sorts of interesting places. My home is in Highbury, London with my partner Oded - and spending time in Barnacles and Swanage continues to give us, particularly me, a huge amount of pleasure! I hope you enjoy it too.
My family have been connected to the Kimmeridge area since the early 1900's, and I have been coming down here since I was born in 1952. What particularly appealed to us about this property were the different views of the sea and hills from each room, the light pouring into the flat all day, and the fact that the sea, cliffs of Peveril Point and the coastal path are so close by. It's also quiet here, which is very important to us. And there's something special about a window seat! I love gardening so I got permission from Swanage Council to cultivate the verges around the house. The plants are becoming established and learning to protect themselves from the Swanage Council mowers and dogs! And I am learning to plant things that can manage for long periods without being watered. Please feel free to water the tubs of geraniums if you feel like it! Salvias do well - which I love. You will see some unusual glass work in the flat too made by Oded.
I can't imagine ever being bored here - each season has its own interest - for photography, collecting drift wood, reading, observing, birds, walking, exploring, drawing - or simply watching the changing light across the sea and hills. After coming to the area for so many years it's a pleasure to know that it remains easy to get away from the 'crowds' - which in any case are never very big here even in August. And if you want to enjoy being here plus films, art or music (classical, jazz, blues or chamber music) and walking during the dy, then it's an ideal combination. There's also the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage that show films on a regular basis, with occasional live shows. Other than that the area is one of the most beautiful areas full of dramatic or quiet coastal walks, and large areas of natural heathland and of course the fabulous RSPB reserve at Arne.
