Breathtaking property! This was the 2nd I and my kayaking friends rented here. We are smitten with it. The house and deck are so cozy. The lake is gorgeous. And the spot is peaceful. Will be back again!

The hosts were great to work with, always available if you needed them. They had a house phone since cell phone reception is spotty. They have done some nice updates to the house, it had plenty of room. Storms rolled in every afternoon so that was nice sitting on the back porch. Our only issue were the barking/howling dogs. We did contact the owners about it, they did what they could and it wasn't there fault but it did take away from the serene beauty of the property.

Blue Lake Retreat

House was spotless, furnishings a little outdated, but the location on the lake was great! Area is a bit remote, very quiet and peaceful. Lots of hiking, waterfalls to see and national forests to enjoy nearby.

Great spacious home next to the lake. It was awesome to be able to go fishing right out the front door. Host checked in several times as west. Definitely a cool spot.

Week long stay

My wife and I stayed there for a week and we really enjoy it. The property is enjoyable and in a nice, quiet area. You can enjoy the covered deck with a water view while drinking coffee without anything bothering you. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a place to stay at Lake Toxaway.

Peaceful getaway in wonderful location!

Comfortable, well-equipped house on a beautiful little private lake! We loved sitting on the deck listening to the frogs, birds, and rain. Perfect location for a relaxing week of hiking in Panthertown Valley and Pisgah National Forest, boating on Lake Glenville, and exploring the nearby towns of Cashiers and Brevard. Several great restaurants close by as well. Definitely hope to be back!

A Real Sanctuary

We stayed with friends in order to relax and leave the city behind. The house was perfect for our purpose. It was cozy and comfortable with a modern updated kitchen.

Great Family Getaway Spot

Tucked away on a quiet lake, the cabin was a perfect escape for the family. The cabin itself is very clean, comfortable and roomy. The back deck is a great spot for drinking coffee and watching the sun come up over the trees while listening to the wildlife or playing board games with the family. Day trips are easy with so many mountain towns, hiking trails and waterfalls to see within a short drive.

Perfect for our needs. Quiet, well stocked kitchen. Mostly very clean. Updated kitchen and most bathrooms. Comfy beds. AC worked well. Such a pretty pond and beautiful views. Would stay there again!

Host interaction and communication great! Couch very worn out and uncomfortable, main bedroom matress also worn with big bulging lump in middle. Comfort is a must for older people.

We did everything we could to accommodate you. We agreed to allow you to bring four dogs (our normal limit is two). The week before your arrival,you requested to reduce your stay by one night and we agreed to a refund. You asked to check in early and we arranged an early check in. We are sorry you were sick on your vacation and left two days early. We didn’t think another refund was appropriate. We didn’t say anything about the condition you left the house in since you were sick. You are the first to complain about the couch or bed. We will check on them this month.

Peaceful retreat!

The whole process was made easy by the owners! Thorough communication and a wonderfully appointed home made our short vacation feel even more stress free. We visited early spring before everything was green again, but saw rabbit, white squirrel, and so many birds. The daffodil and forsythia blooms were beautiful. Will be back in summer!

The property is named perfectly. Blue Lake Sanctuary. Great house and great location. The owners were always responsive and the house has a well stocked kitchen. The grounds around the house have lots of flowers, birds and butterflies. The small lake is an added addition. We spent every morning hanging out for hours before heading out to different hikes each day. The house is near other houses but you feel secluded. Very enjoyable week.

Relaxation in Nature

Updated and immaculate home set in beautiful natural setting. Excellent amenities and helpful owners. Enjoyed watching hummingbirds amidst flowers and fishing and kayaking in small lake. Covered deck great spot to read. Spotted the beaver and my first white squirrel. Good location. Reasonable drive to Brevard and Cashiers for groceries and shops. Numerous hiking opportunities and waterfalls in area.

Blue Lake

The house was nice. The kitchen was fully stocked. We were a little disappointed about the 4 houses that were so close to us and the walking trail located directly in the back yard. The neighborhood is was nice but not as secluded as thought it would be.

We are sorry the guest felt the neighbors homes were too close. This is the first time in15 years we have had this comment. Our Vrbo site has over 40 pictures of our house and grounds which includes pictures of the neighboring homes. The houses around our lake all located on multi acre lots .

Peaceful and quite

House was clean and in a quite peaceful area. Wonderful deck to sit on and enjoy the view. Comfortable beds. Ad for place was a little deceiving. The house was not on the lake but a 4-1/2 acre pond, also the house inside had a strange smell that we could not figure where it was coming from.

We are sorry the guest thought our VRBO add “was a little deceiving. The house was not on a lake but a 4 1/2 acre pond.” The second sentence of the VRBO description says “Blue Ridge Lake is on a private spring fed, four and a half acre lake…”. All of the government maps of the area identify the body of water our house is on as “Blueridge Lake”. The size and description on VRBO are accurate and not deceptive. The strange smell the guest noted (but not reported to us) was caused by a tripped ground fault interrupter for the dehumidifier in the crawl space. We call our guest on arrival and ask if they have any questions. We ask them to contact us by phone,email or text if they need anything. Our handy man lives five minutes from our house. If we had been alerted to the smell issue our handyman would have been able to address the issue.

A lovely, relaxing home!

Can't say enough about this great home away from home. Especially loved sitting on the back porch enjoying the bird song and the lake. So peaceful! Owners were always available by their house phone which was a big plus. Everything we needed was available for our use and the king bed was super comfortable. A bit off the beaten path, but that wasn't a problem as it added to the quiet ambience of the location. The only negative was we needed to travel a bit far to purchase groceries. All in all though, a great retreat and we hope to return again.

Loved it!

Would give it 5 stars were it more convenient to places to eat. On the other hand we loved that it was so quiet and away from hustle and bustle and traffic (road/highway)noise. I guess you can't have both! It was so peaceful, the house was just as pictured and we enjoyed it very much. There is a grocery store not too far away. Would definitely go back. Thanks Mark and Joel!
