Cette maison à deux étages a 2 belles cheminées, 4 chambres, 3 salles de bain complètes, laveuse et sécheuse, 55 '' TV HD Sony + lecteur Blu-ray avec Wi-Fi (Stream NetTV, Netflix, Pandora, VUDU) et HD-DVR, TV HD 42 '+ lecteur DVD, TV HD Master Br 37', Internet Wi-Fi. Le meilleur emplacement - à quelques minutes de l'autoroute principale (US 64) permet de faire du shopping ou de faire du tourisme rapidement et facilement. Notre emplacement est à une courte distance en voiture de: Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, Biltmore Estates et trop de cascades spectaculaires à mentionner, d'excellents sentiers, du rafting et des plus beaux parcours de golf à proximité, ou: Pourquoi aller n'importe où? Lake Vacation

We had a great family time on the lake! Everything was exactly as described. Having the boat was a huge benefit! Everything was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Thanksgiving 2024

Our family of 5 adults and one dog stayed for 4 days. The view was awesome! Two decks and two living spaces were awesome except the upstairs fireplace was not working properly but we were able to enjoy the downstairs fireplace. Kitchen is very small but we had everything we needed. Very clean and cozy. Only complaint was that the owners had security cameras on the outside and you will be watched. FYI.

Great Getaway

Our visit was during the quiet season, at the end of summer. We enjoyed a relaxing view of the lake from both upper and lower porches. The slope of the lot down to the water was doable for 65-70 year olds as long as we took our time. The kitchen was well stocked and the entire home extremely clean. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had.

Great property

This was our 5th year in a row. Excellent property with great views. Convenience of a boat to enjoy the entire lake is a real bonus. We’ll be back. The hosts are the best.

Beautiful views!

We loved our stay at Shady Rest! The view was gorgeous and we had such fun on the boat. The fire pit was a popular place in the evening, and the house was great for our large family. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Great time !

The house was very pleasing. The views from the porches were beautiful. We cooked most of the time and the kitchen was well equipped and grill worked great. It was extremely clean. Beds were very comfortable. It was definitely a bonus to have the boat available. Weather was fantastic!!

This was the perfect vacation home for us! The lake views are amazing, and the fact that you get a boat the whole week to use was wonderful!! Steve and Rosie were both great at answering any questions and concerns we had. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful stay.

Rosie and Steve were great to work with. Their property on Lake Toxaway is beautiful. Boat was the reason we booked so we could experience the lake. Boat could use a little tlc but it ran perfectly. I would recommend this property.

Beautiful Location

Lake Toxaway is absolutely beautiful. The house is located close to amazing hiking trails and water falls. Our three boys ages 7,9 and 10 had a blast in the boat fishing and tubing! We made lasting memories. The Shades were very good at communicating. We truly enjoyed our stay!!

Perfectly Peaceful.

We have rented several different places on Lake Toxaway and none have disappointed including this home. Having the boat was absolutely wonderful. The sheets/bed were surprisingly comfortable and I liked the cute mason jar soap dispensers in the bathrooms. Hope to come back again soon.

Restful, peaceful, serene stay

We were here in mid-October. The leaves were just beginning to turn, but the lake and its surrounding area were still fall-beautiful. Not sure how it is in the summer when I'm sure it's busier, but it was very peaceful and quiet while we were there. Just the right amount of crisp air a couple mornings was enough to remind you it was fall. Even though it was only a long weekend stay, we enjoyed every minute. We hope to be back in the future with the extended family.

Great lake house!

Had a great stay - house was fantastic. Right on the water! Clean, no issues whatsoever. Wish we'd had more time! 20 minutes from Cashiers, 30 minutes to Brevard, fishing, hiking - perfect spot. If you get time, drive up the mountain in Toxaway - the views from the top are amazing. Highly recommend this house - owners were accessible and answered every question quickly! Great folks and a great spot!

Fourth year in a row

The house is well equipped and has very good views from all bedrooms and living areas. The back porch overlooking the lake is a popular spot. Very private street. Drive through porte cochere fits two vehicles and is convenient to the front door. The use of the boat is a bonus. So is the dock and boardwalk. There is a nice firepit too. We’ll be back.

Best Value on Lake Toxaway!!

Steve and Rosie were great! Very easy to talk too and eager to make our stay enjoyable. We were two families with 4 adults and 4 kids and had plenty of room. Amazing views from the back porch of the lake! Having access to a boat was a very welcome bonus and we lived tubing with the kids and cruising the lake looking at all the beautiful homes. For those looking to do some work/virtual school the WiFi Speedtest on my phone had 313 Mbps!! Only problem is the house is booked solid so if you are lucky enough to see an open date - you should jump on it!

Refreshing Retreat

We were definitely ready for Some time away this summer as a family and Shady Rest was a great fit for our needs. The location is beautiful and right on the lake and all of the hydrangeas were in bloom. The kids were able to fish off the dock, Or relax on the lawn. We could roast s’mores over the fire in the evening After a day of fun on the lake. It was awesome to have the boat available and be able to use the Water skis as well as the tube for water time. The kayaks were perfect for paddling around in the early mornings were right around sunset with the mountains in the backdrop. The house has two beautiful big porches that overlook the lake and the property with plenty of chairs and areas to play cards or have breakfast together while enjoying the cool mountain air and the Vistas. The kitchen was well equipped with the dishware we needed, and we were able to prepare most of our meals right at the house. Shady Rest is just a short drive from several hiking areas and waterfalls as well. Steve and Rosie were easy to reach by phone if we had any questions Would definitely visit this lovely place again !!

Shady Rest - Lake Toxaway

Five years between visits is too long! We stayed at Shady Rest in 07/18 and again recently. The home is very well maintained and there were many updates from our last visit. With six adults, a 10 yo and a 13 yo, there was plenty of room to spread out. The home includes all the creature comforts, including Wifi and new streaming tv's, a well-stocked kitchen, and a deck boat. Yes, a boat! Water-skiing and tubing were a part of our daily activities, as well as cruising the shoreline and enjoying the charm of Lake Toxaway. Steve and Rosie are terrific hosts and wonderful at responding to any inquiries/issues immediately. It is our sincere desire to get back there as often as we are able! Patty and Ron H.

Beautiful lakefront

The home is located on beautiful Lake Toxaway, which we considered the best feature of the property. Use of pontoon boat was a nice amenity. Many rooms and beds to suit a large group. Gas fireplaces and TV's were very nice on both levels of the home. Kitchen well-stocked for preparing meals. Lovely firepit in backyard. Driveway was rather difficult to locate at first, could be marked better. Stairs, both indoors and outdoors, were very steep or slippery. Musty, damp odor throughout the first level of the home. Lake Toxaway location was centrally located to Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard and even Asheville. Host was very responsive to communication.

Another Wonderful Stay 6/17-24

This is our second time staying at Steve and Rosie’s! We had a great week despite the rainy weather. You cannot beat the location on this beautiful lake! The layout of the house works well for our family. The kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed sunrise and afternoon cocktails from the decks. The kids had a blast in the lake. Didn’t let the rain and fog stop them at all! I read a couple books outside on the deck and had a regular hummingbird visitor. Steve and Rosie were very accessible when we needed them as we lost power in one of the storms and a couple of other questions arise. We got to enjoy a couple of restaurants, wineries and breweries in the area this year. All were great experiences. All in all, we had another relaxing vacation at one of our favorite places! Thanks so much :). We will be back!

All the creature comforts of a lakehouse included!!

You know you hit a "home run" when the entire family asks if we can return to the home next summer! 3 generations of 6 adults and 2 children thoroughly enjoyed Rosie and Steve Shade's home. With plenty of room to spread out when inside (which was mainly only for meals), the nicely appointed bathrooms and kitchen were very appreciated. The main level deck allowed us to take all our meals "al fresco" while gazing over beautiful Lake Toxaway. We took full advantage of the use of the boat to include waterskiing, tubing and shore gazing at some breath-taking properties. We enjoyed the area and all that it has to offer, and working with Rosie and Steve to arrange staying at their home for a week was easy and delightful. Also, you can't beat the cost/value this home offers in the Toxaway/Sapphire Valley area, especially since it is located directly on the water. We look forward to staying at "Shady Rest" again in the future!! Patty and Ron & Family

Great place for family R&R

Communication with property owners was great before and during our trip. Location is great for water activities and for hiking. Lots of amazing waterfalls nearby! Having access to the boat is great—we were the first renters of the season, so there were a few maintenance issues with the boat but the owners took care of everything quickly. We added the optional kayaks and canoe package after we arrived—glad we did, they got a lot of use in addition to the kayak we brought with us. The water front area, fire pit and landscaping was so lovely! We had a fire every night. The water was beautifully clear (and cold—early April!). The house is small compared to many places on the lake but worked well for two small families with lots of space for people to gather together, do work/school and relax. Kitchen is small but well stocked with all the pots and pans and small appliances you need to make nice meals. We used the gas grill as well. Would definitely recommend and hope to return to do a few more hikes—we couldn’t fit all of the trails into a one-week stay!

Fun house on a beautiful lake!

My family (3 kids 7-11 and our dog) just had a 1 week fall stay at the lake and the place was great. Even this late in the season we had some luck fishing, enough to keep the kids occupied and maybe even hooked. The boat was a real treasure, both for fishing as well as cruising the lake. If you look at rental fees for similar boats at the lake you'll see that including in the house fee makes for a real bargain. If you are considering a stay keep in mind that it is geared for peace and quiet. It is very close to a few really nice little hikes in whitewater and gorges and also has a market and hardware store nearby but other than that you are in for a haul to find supplies. You'll have plenty to do, so just make sure to stock up. Lastly, the renters were very easy to work with. We had a number of questions (including more expansive directions would be worthwhile) but they always answered them quickly. Only note - renters should consider a new dishwasher as the unit was extremely loud.
