Cette maison à deux étages a 2 belles cheminées, 4 chambres, 3 salles de bain complètes, laveuse et sécheuse, 55 '' TV HD Sony + lecteur Blu-ray avec Wi-Fi (Stream NetTV, Netflix, Pandora, VUDU) et HD-DVR, TV HD 42 '+ lecteur DVD, TV HD Master Br 37', Internet Wi-Fi. Le meilleur emplacement - à quelques minutes de l'autoroute principale (US 64) permet de faire du shopping ou de faire du tourisme rapidement et facilement. Thanksgiving 2024

Our family of 5 adults and one dog stayed for 4 days. The view was awesome! Two decks and two living spaces were awesome except the upstairs fireplace was not working properly but we were able to enjoy the downstairs fireplace. Kitchen is very small but we had everything we needed. Very clean and cozy. Only complaint was that the owners had security cameras on the outside and you will be watched. FYI.

Great Getaway

Our visit was during the quiet season, at the end of summer. We enjoyed a relaxing view of the lake from both upper and lower porches. The slope of the lot down to the water was doable for 65-70 year olds as long as we took our time. The kitchen was well stocked and the entire home extremely clean. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had.

We had a great family time on the lake! Everything was exactly as described. Having the boat was a huge benefit! Everything was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Refreshing Retreat

We were definitely ready for Some time away this summer as a family and Shady Rest was a great fit for our needs. The location is beautiful and right on the lake and all of the hydrangeas were in bloom. The kids were able to fish off the dock, Or relax on the lawn. We could roast s’mores over the fire in the evening After a day of fun on the lake. It was awesome to have the boat available and be able to use the Water skis as well as the tube for water time. The kayaks were perfect for paddling around in the early mornings were right around sunset with the mountains in the backdrop. The house has two beautiful big porches that overlook the lake and the property with plenty of chairs and areas to play cards or have breakfast together while enjoying the cool mountain air and the Vistas. The kitchen was well equipped with the dishware we needed, and we were able to prepare most of our meals right at the house. Shady Rest is just a short drive from several hiking areas and waterfalls as well. Steve and Rosie were easy to reach by phone if we had any questions Would definitely visit this lovely place again !!

Great time !

The house was very pleasing. The views from the porches were beautiful. We cooked most of the time and the kitchen was well equipped and grill worked great. It was extremely clean. Beds were very comfortable. It was definitely a bonus to have the boat available. Weather was fantastic!!

Shady Rest - Lake Toxaway

Five years between visits is too long! We stayed at Shady Rest in 07/18 and again recently. The home is very well maintained and there were many updates from our last visit. With six adults, a 10 yo and a 13 yo, there was plenty of room to spread out. The home includes all the creature comforts, including Wifi and new streaming tv's, a well-stocked kitchen, and a deck boat. Yes, a boat! Water-skiing and tubing were a part of our daily activities, as well as cruising the shoreline and enjoying the charm of Lake Toxaway. Steve and Rosie are terrific hosts and wonderful at responding to any inquiries/issues immediately. It is our sincere desire to get back there as often as we are able! Patty and Ron H.

Another Wonderful Stay 6/17-24

This is our second time staying at Steve and Rosie’s! We had a great week despite the rainy weather. You cannot beat the location on this beautiful lake! The layout of the house works well for our family. The kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed sunrise and afternoon cocktails from the decks. The kids had a blast in the lake. Didn’t let the rain and fog stop them at all! I read a couple books outside on the deck and had a regular hummingbird visitor. Steve and Rosie were very accessible when we needed them as we lost power in one of the storms and a couple of other questions arise. We got to enjoy a couple of restaurants, wineries and breweries in the area this year. All were great experiences. All in all, we had another relaxing vacation at one of our favorite places! Thanks so much :). We will be back!

Beautiful Location

Lake Toxaway is absolutely beautiful. The house is located close to amazing hiking trails and water falls. Our three boys ages 7,9 and 10 had a blast in the boat fishing and tubing! We made lasting memories. The Shades were very good at communicating. We truly enjoyed our stay!!

Beautiful Views, TOP Hosts

We travel a lot and I will say that Steve and Rosie are Premier Hosts. They were always able to respond to every need of ours. There was so much rain that the Lake Toxaway Association had to close the lake. The status changed by the hour, so we needed to know when we could go out, how fast, etc. They were always available to help. Very kind and efficient hosts with true gifts of hospitality. The house was super clean and comfortable. Having the boat and kayaks, plus canoe, were top reasons we would be back. The location on the lake was perfect as well as the views from each bedroom and living areas. Two living areas make this nice for two families. Three bedrooms, two full baths downstairs with living area and main bedroom, one bath on the main floor with the kitchen and living areas. Lots of living space on two large decks. Like others have said, the kitchen is fully equipped. They have a Keurig, regular coffee maker and espresso maker. I would recommend bringing boat towels and soccer folding type chairs to sit out on the boat deck on the water. The house has a grill, very nice fire pit, plenty of bath towels, washer dryer, etc. We are grateful for our time at Shady Rest and hope to be back soon.

Wonderful Week at Lake Toxaway

What a gorgeous lake! And the house was in an ideal spot, especially for watching the sunrise. We ate every dinner and spent most of our time awake and not on the water, on the upper deck. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The boat was great for pulling the kids around in the tube. The owners were very responsive to my questions. All in all, it was a wonderful week!

Nice house and responsive owners

Hard that beat the price for the house plus the boat on a great location of the lake. The boat is older and as advertised, but it works well enough. Fishing from the dock was excellent.

Fourth year in a row

The house is well equipped and has very good views from all bedrooms and living areas. The back porch overlooking the lake is a popular spot. Very private street. Drive through porte cochere fits two vehicles and is convenient to the front door. The use of the boat is a bonus. So is the dock and boardwalk. There is a nice firepit too. We’ll be back.

Amazing lake vacation

First impressions: Shady Rest is a very clean, cozy and comfortable cabin. All of which are very important when you are investing in a family vacation. The neighborhood itself is also very very nice. The home had everything in it ready for use that we needed. The kitchen is small; a little tight for even two people to be working together. But I'm probably one of the few people who like to cook on vacation and I just had to keep shooing the rest of the family out of my space... And besides, you don't choose a vacation home for the kitchen... :) The furniture was very comfortable and modern. The cabin has an upstairs and downstairs family room with large screen TV's so we had no trouble with places to relax in between more active activities. The master bedroom is spacious and the bed is one of the most comfortable that I've slept in. It doesn't have it's own private bathroom but that wasn't a problem. There were two full bathrooms downstairs which was very nice. Both floors had their own deck facing the lake. We really enjoyed waking up in the morning, brewing a cup of coffee, and sitting out on the deck to watch the sun come up over the lake. Since it is Summer in NC we also were treated to cocktails on the deck in the late afternoon where we were able to watch the relaxing rain from the daily thunderstorms that rolled through the area. Perhaps the one negative, easily overcome if prepared for it, is that the ice maker in the freezer couldn't keep up with our demand for ice. We learned this quickly and would pick up a bag each time we went to the grocery store to augment what the ice maker could make for us. The lake itself is beautiful. Many lakes in NC have very murky water. Not Lake Toxaway! You can see the bottom even when it is 5 or 6 feet deep. Very clear and clean water. Oh yes, plenty of parking.

Beautiful Lake Toxaway!

Thank you Steve and Rosie for sharing your beautiful Lake home with us! It was our first trip to Lake Toxaway and it did not disappoint. The fall colors were vivid and at their peak. So beautiful looking across the lake and enjoying it from the boat! Your home has the perfect layout with two family rooms, each with a cozy fireplace to warm up to and enjoy your company. We could see all the memories you have made with your family over the years. We had everything we needed during our stay as you have made a point to provide all the essentials. Thank you for all the extra attention given to us for making this trip with family and friends so special for us! We certainly hope to return again!

Great vacation

We had a wonderful stay. Although it was a wet week the accommodations were great. We had some great hikes and enjoyed coming back to this lovely house on Lake Toxaway.
