A wonderful stay at the farmhouse for our sonâs college graduation family trip. Plenty of room for us five, kitchen has everything you need including and just a beautiful location! The drive to and from Ithaca was easy and quick, and communication with the host was excellent! Thank you for a great stay!
We are very pleased with our rental during our stay. The property was as expected, if not better than we expected. Our dogs were very comfortable, as were we. The property itself is beautiful and was fun to explore. We would definitely stay again, or consider staying at another one of the hostâs properties.
This cute 2 bedroom cottage is set on a pet-friendly property that includes a sweet wildflower meadow adjoining a natural preserve leading down to a gorge. It's a peaceful spot just south of Ithaca and close to Treman and Buttermilk Falls state parks.
Michelle is welcoming and quick to respond. No issues or concerns. Was close enough to enjoy Our daughter's family weekend at Cornell and local shopping/restaurants. Farm land was walkable and we could imagine how beautiful it is when the wildflowers would be blooming. We were also able to take some great senior high school pictures for my son.
What a charming and unique cottage! It is an old farmhouse with a lot of charm. Michelle was an attentive host, too. I did not realize that there were 2 other units where other family or friends could stay. We loved it!
We had a really nice time staying at the farmhouse gem. It was a great place for our family. Our son enjoyed feeding the chickens and exploring the property. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. This was a great place for us to unplug and reconnect. My only regret is we didnât hike down to see the waterfall! Hopefully next time!
My brother, niece and I had a wonderful, relaxing get-away, after not seeing each other for a long time. Perfect place to talk, cook breakfasts and dinners, play board games and hang out. We went for hikes and visited waterfalls. The cottage is out of town but very easy to get to, the perfect combination of secluded and convenient. It's not a large place but feels very spacious. Michelle is a great host!
The farmhouse is in a great location. Short drive to Downtown Ithaca, with Buttermilk and Treman State Parks right around the corner. The farmhouse is clean and comfortable, with a pellet stove that kept the entire house cozy (even when the snow arrived!). Michelle is a wonderful host! She is friendly, available when needed, and gave us some excellent activity recs. We appreciated that everything was eco-friendly, from the natural soaps and lotions to the compost at the top of the property. We would highly recommend renting here!
No information was received indicating how to access the property, no address visible from the street, not clear where to park, no air conditioning (it was very hot when we arrived), house had a musty smell.
Overall, very clean, comfortable property. Remote, which we liked. Up a steep hill to get to the property, my wife had trouble walking to and from the car, weâre in our 70s so it may not be an issue for everyone. Cable TV and internet was nice, a lot of rentals do not provide cable tv. Only one criticism is that we always bring condiments, paper towels and toilet paper because the typical VRBO provides these items but these items tend to be low quality, this was no exception, and dishes and cooking pots and pans tend to be leftovers mismatches which, while very functional, gives the feel of a camping trip. Solid place to stay and we enjoyed our time there. I would choose to stay again, my wife would not as it was a little too rustic for her. Very solid choice as a place to stay.
The cottage was horrible! The property was old, rundown and overgrown. The cottage was dark, dingy and dirty. Bathroom was disgusting and very dirty. The floors in the entire were very uneven - you felt like you were drunk walking across them. As Farr as chicken eggs we were told a raccoons ate the chickens. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed one night. Do not stay here!
My husband and dog stayed here over a long weekend. The quaint farmhouse surrounded by beautiful flowers is charming and extremely clean. It was geographically located near Ithaca and many of the popular hikes and waterfalls in the area (30 minutes or less). The kitchen had everything we needed to make basic meals. Special care had been taken to ensure we enjoyed our stay including a new bag of whole bean coffee and a french press from the hostess and fresh sunflowers on the table. Despite being just steps from the host's home and other rental homes, it was situated privately. All ammenities noted were present including a standalone air conditioner in the living room, washer and dryer, desk and high speed internet. It was absolutely amazing and a dream to be able to travel with our dog. While special care had been taken, we found the beds and furniture on the uncomfortable side, however, I accept that may be more due to a personal preference. Overall, we would stay again!
The property was a great home away from home for our family. We loved the central location and easy access to surrounding attractions. Property was clean and had a great style. Our three year old loved the chickens, swing set and nature that surrounded us. Would love to come back for another stay if we return to Ithaca.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. The farmhouse had everything we needed to be comfortable. Loved that the property was on a nature preserve we could walk to with the dog! Michelle was a great communicator.
The place is cozy and clean and a perfect garden hideaway. The host went above and beyond to help solve an issue I had so that my company could reimburse me for the stay, as I was traveling for work. If you have the chance to stay here, do it! You will have a lovely time!
Seriously, you know all that time you think about your vacation and how well itâs going to go? This house was better than my expectations. Even though itâs on land with other houses, we felt plenty of privacy. The house was so clean and cute, everybody had space together and apart. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The most amazing thing was the waterfalls attached to the property, that we could explore, probably the highlight of our trip. The little details; the assistance when needed, the fresh eggs from the chicken coop, the record collection, the well appointed kitchen⊠I hope this review doesnât get the farmhouse booked for eternity, because we so hoped to go back!
We loved staying at the farmhouse. Itâs a cute place and tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The farmhouse is just about 10 minutes from Ithaca. We enjoyed exploring the property and hiking nearby.
A peaceful respite from days exploring Ithaca's amazing gorges, bike paths, and downtown restaurants. Drought conditions left the waterfalls and waterways quite dry. We would love to come back when the waters are flowing. Daily dips in the swimming hole at nearby Treman State Park provided relief from the heat. The house is very well equipped and we enjoyed fresh eggs and veggies from the garden. Mr. Banks, the resident dog, led us on trail walks down to the gorge on this very special property. Michelle was a wonderful and responsive host. Her hiking and biking advice was spot on!
A bit wonky, but a great hub for Ithaca and surrounding area
The property is very cute, but we had a few issues. When we walked in, the property smelled very musty. We bought some febreeze which helped, but it was pretty pervasive, especially in the west bedroom with the double bed. The living room furniture is not very comfortable (likely because both pieces fold out to beds), so we did not spend much time sitting there. Also, the dining table is SO warped, you can barely place a drink on it without it sliding to the middle. We had some bug issues as well, just lots of bugs inside (screen doors were closed the whole time, but they are old and have holes). The kitchen is not very well appointed, only a few pots and pans and hardly any "staples" like oil etc. (though Michelle did leave us a bag of very delicious coffee beans, which was great). All that said, we got used to the property by the end of our week there, and felt very at home. The front porch is cute and gets a lot of sun. The record player is a great touch. And the property is really close to Ithaca and lots of surrounding parks and hikes, making it a great hub for seeing the area. Michelle was very responsive when we had an issue, and she gave me a tour of the garden and offered veggies to take back to the house. We saw tons of wildlife around ... bunnies and chipmunks in the yard, deer on the road into town, and lots of birds. The resident dog is a delight; he greeted us when we arrived and "showed us around." I would definitely stay here again, but suggest stocking the kitchen a bit more and replacing the dining table.
I've been hosting travelers since 2009 and I live on the property with my children and my dad. I'm available to help if you need something and I care that you have a wonderful stay. I have a yurt and an octagon that travelers love too! There are 4 homes on the property but there's enough space for everyone to have privacy. Since I'm from here I can offer insider tips about the best places to see and fun things to do.
