I love this place!! Iâll definitely be back! It was so cool to be right on the lake and be able to see it from most every room in the house! This is an older lake house and thatâs exactly my vibe I felt right at home and comfy. My pup and I had a blast paddling around the lake on the paddle board, we really enjoyed that. Just a lovely place, a lovely stay and we really loved it!
The house was exactly as described. We were looking for a comfortable place for a family vacation with our dogs, this was the place! Marty was a responsive and accommodating host. Private yet close to stores and some nice breweries. Just right for us.
What a great gem. This home is all you will need. Very well kept property. The beds and linen were amazing, very comfortable and spacious. Furniture very comfortable. Everything works as it should. All light switches labeled. While some comments mentioned the older bathrooms and kitchen appliances. This is a great time capsule of a family home. You will love the intercom system. Really took me back to my childhood. Donât delay. You will have a great time. We booked for next year before we left. We also rented the pontoon book. We had a great family week and our fur babies enjoyed it as well.
Location was great. The windows on the outside were filthy and the dining room chairs had broken seats. The pontoon boat floor was dirty, gas gauge was inaccurate, speedometer and tach were non operational and the starboard bow seating was not secured. Inside house was clean and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay nonetheless
Plenty of room for our large family. Beds were very comfortable, spacious common areas for catching up & playing board games. The lake & dock were phenomenal! Will definitely stay here again on our next visit.
Very nice view of the lake. Hostess was great and the home was a little dated, but everything a lake house should be. Hope to go back next year. See you soon!
Well if you plan on boating and using the dock and or hanging out outside this place is lacking upkeep and maintenance. No usable grill and the yard was full of branches sticks and dirt. Hedges were grown up to the eaves. The dock walkway is a barely hanging in there. Metal rod holding the walkway up is halfway out and needs fixed. The electrical outlet is deteriorated and needs replaced. Had to make do with what we had to charge our boats. Very unsafe. No light bulb on dock and when we put one in there the neighbor made us take it out. She says the light bothered her at night. Living areas were okay but outdated. Iâve fished all over the Southeast and stayed at many places and this one was my least favorite.
A little dated, but very clean and great location. We had to have a place for in between selling our home and purchasing our new home. Worked out well.
The house is nice and lake location is nice. There was a lot of things that didnât work. The ice maker and fireplace did not work. The lights outside of the house was very dark and you couldnât see. There were spiders webs in the rooms and I have picture's. There was lots of spider webs on the house. No one thought to clean things and check to make sure things were in good working order. The drainage in the Jacuzzi was slow and main sink as well in the bathroom. I did a lot of cleaning.
Itâs an older home with old appliances such as the stove top and dishwasher and washing machine. There was a new refrigerator in which the ice maker didnât work and the filter water was not working. The person who I called Marty who was very nice and tried to help with issues but no one was able to come and fix things because it was the weekend. It was a good stay but there are issues.
We loved out stay the lake house. The house was clean, the location was quiet, the cove was quiet and clearly a no wake cove, the property was nice, there wasnât anything about the place we would have changed. Was it all brand new? Nope. Did everything work? Yep. We fixed steaks on the gas grill, cooked side items in the house, and we wanted for nothing. We are already talking about when we are going to go back, and we rarely visit the same rental twice, so that says a lot. As a side note, we ate at Chillfire Grill for my birthday, and it was easily a top 3 dining experience, so it is highly recommended.
Charming house with floor to ceiling windows provided us a panoramic view of the lake. Plenty of space for entertaining inside or outside. We spent most of our long weekend on the back porch enjoying the view and the bbq grille. Also we liked the proximity to plenty of restaurants and breweries - within 5 to 10 from the house.
Would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at this home. The description is very accurate. The back porch was our favorite spot for morning coffee and sunsets. Our dogs enjoyed the large yard and walks in the quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the convenience of stores nearby. Renting the pontoon boat was a definite perk!
It was a great place to come to stay after hurricane Helene came through our home town of Swannanoa Nc. Thank you for sharing a little bit of normalcy with us.
Beautiful location. I gave this 5 stars even though we had a few issues with the electricity. Hurricane Helene sent some weather our way and a tree took out some power lines. We were without power for 2 days/1 night. In all honesty it wasn't that big of a deal, after all you are outside most of the time enjoying the beautiful yard and lake. We ran to Wal Mart, got some candles and ice chests. Saved our food and then ordered pizza for dinner. We planned to BBQ but the previous vacationer left the propane tank on and there went those plans. Pizza was good though so no harm done.
Just got back from 5 days at this property. Everything worked as it should. While it is a little dated, it is clearly posted in the description. Went with the family and dogs. The location was excellent. The view was beautiful and it was nice and quiet. I would definitely recommend and stay again in the future.
Our family vacation here was comfortable and fun. The house, property, and location is very nice. Owners seem like friendly folks. There were areas worth noting that need attention, but weren't necessary to report during our stay. The main shower has weak, cracked flooring; one sink drains slowly. Water pressure slowed in the kitchen and baths at times. Small bath had loose toilet seat. LR has loose railing. Coffee pot was missing power button. A functional coffee pot was found in a cabinet. (both were dirty). The kitchen needs a few new dishes. A teflon pot was extremely damaged and rusted inside. The stovetop has an odd, deep vat holding a puddle of murky, old grease and food particles. This not only looks gross, but circulates a heavy, smoky odor while cooking. Fortunately, no bugs were seen. Dining room chair cushions sag deeply with no center support. Other house needs were already mentioned in recent reviews. **The dock light hung loosely and did not work. After a windy thunderstorm, it was gone.
The house is spacious. AC worked great. Beds & bedding was comfy and clean. (There is one flat, firm mattress.) The large, shady yard provided a good place to play badminton. The dock had plenty of room for our canopy, and fishing was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the large back porch. Watch out for two deep holes in the lower backyard. Overall, we had a good family vacation here, and priced right. We're thankful for pet friendly home options to bring our sweet dog along.
The Property was incredably beautiful with large backyard for our dog to run. great shade provided by many mature trees. Location and view of the Lake equaly amazing. The house itself was roomy and very comfortable but was in need of some maintinence. Many of the shades missing slats and some did not work at all. Several cieling fans not operating properly. Garage lights not operating, and a few other minor issues. None of these items made our experience any less enjoyable. Outside one of the Kayaks (large one) leaked significantly. Could only go short distances. The property hos Marty was terrific. We had issues understanding the TV and she was there in 5 minutes fixing the issues and showing us how to operate remotes. She was always available. Overall we gave this VRBO a 4.4 rating. With a little maintenence this would be a 5 Star property. Great time for my wife and I and our dog.
My name is Marty and I manage my families rental properties here on Lake Norman. I am originally from West Virginia but made Lake Norman my home in 2015. I manage the 3 rentals on the property for my family, and live close by to easily over see them all. I am also a licensed real estate agent in the area. If you are potentially interested in residing in the area please do not hesitate contacting me for more local information!
This property really allows you to experience the beauty of Lake Norman with its open and inviting lay out. It has a 1.5 acre lot and large back porch. The house is slightly back in a cove, but just around the corner is open water and the main channel. Being in a cove, the house is very relaxing and quiet. My favorite part is the fact the house faces the west and you get the most breathtaking sunset!
The house has a very open floor plan and glass sliding doors that give you a full view of the lake from where ever you are in the house. It was built in the 1960s, so I would definitely say it has a retro and unique vibe. For example, the house has a surround sound intercom system you control from the kitchen and can hear from any room! Turn on the local FM station and you can jam throughout the whole house! The house also has an indoor fire place and an outdoor fire pit. I also have included a propane grill, with 2 picnic tables (one on the patio, one on the dock) and patio furniture so ample enjoyment is possible. There are also kayaks and a paddle board!
The dock has 2 ladders for you to go in and out of the water. It has a picnic table at the end, and a floating piece to attach a boat.
If you are interested in renting lake toys, I rent out the pontoon boat. Westport marina (very close to the house) rents out practically every water toy you can think of.
