Escapade paisible pour des plaisirs simples de la vie

Penny Lane Retreat au Baba Looey Barn est situé à seulement 15 minutes du centre-ville d’Athènes. Nous avons un poney (Tinker), un petit cheval (Chili) et le célèbre âne sauveteur (Baba Looey) qui vit en harmonie avec nos deux chats de grange extérieurs, Faye Lou et Lula Belle. La grange est située dans une allée de 1/2 mile qui vous procure la paix et la tranquillité; les seuls sons que vous entendrez sont ceux de la nature!

Ceci est un espace de 700 pieds carrés avec la chambre à coucher à l'étage et une cuisine complète, salle de bains et salon en bas. Cette grange est située au milieu de 35 hectares et comprend des pâturages, des zones boisées et un étang de 5 hectares avec un pavillon.

Notre souhait pour vous est de recharger votre corps et votre esprit.

Combat Veterans Nationals

This place is truly a little piece of heaven, quaint, quiet and peaceful. The barn residence provided the perfect amount of space for my wife and I to visit Athens for the CVMA nationals meeting. The residence had all the necessary accommodations and necessities needed for our stay. The kitchen was well equipped if you wanted to remain in for meals instead of venturing out. Coffee, creamer and snacks as well as some water was provided by the host. A great little start to your arrival until you can venture out. Even soap and other toiletries were provided and available should you have forgotten something. The bed and couch/lounger were comfortable and just enough space for us. The property was wonderful, a peaceful stream and pond nearby as well as a few animals that we enjoyed petting and feeding during our stay. A hammock outside can make for a relaxing nap in the shade at your leisure. Penny (owner) and Leslie (manager) are truly the most friendly folks I’ve ever met. They were so easy to communicate with and were always ready to do anything to ensure our stay was absolutely perfect. If you’re looking to visit the Athens area, you can’t go wrong with this place. It’s a must book! Close enough to everything but just far enough to have ample peace and quiet.

A Unique Experience

My husband and I had the most wonderful time staying in this quaint and cozy barn, next to a pond, surrounded by the property's local residents - 2 cats, a dog, a donkey and a horse. The accommodations and amenties were perfect for us, and we received 5 star service. Leslie made sure we had everything we needed, including leaving "happy birthday" plates for my husband, and setting up a fire pit for us. Penny, the owner, was so welcoming and friendly. It's a 20 minute ride to Athens, and a great value compared to Athens hotels.

Relaxing getaway

Really enjoyed our stay here. The animals were so friendly and Dilbert the dog walked with us to and from the lake as though he knew where we were headed. Super soft bath towels and extra amenities were available just in case you forgot something. They thought of everything! Would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful, Clean, beautiful property

Wish we would’ve had more time to explore this beautiful serene property. The barn is adorable and fully stocked with everything you could need for a stay. We will choose to stay here again over a hotel when visting Athens. Super clean, cozy, the friendliest owners..and the animals were fun!

Peaceful and very quiet!

This place was everything we hoped for. Such beautiful surroundings and lovely accommodations make me want to return and spend more time there on a personal retreat. We were away during most of the day we stayed there enjoying the Botanical Gardens and eating out, so I didn't get to relax for hours on end just soaking it all up. Next time!

Awesome place

My husband & I decided to rent this place for an evening when we needed to stay in Athens after a dinner function. I opted for this instead of a hotel. I'm so glad I did! Peace and quiet!! We enjoyed walking the trails, seeing the animals and taking some time just for the two of us. Will definitely recommend to friends & family! We hope to come back soon!

Peace & Quiet - an Oasis Close to Home

I needed a getaway that was close to home and this delivered! What a beautiful and peaceful location. I felt like I was far away from everything and totally alone--except for the delightful animals. I was greeted by one of the farm cats upon arrival and the horse and donkey came up right away (I think they were looking for treats.) The driveway is nearly 1/2 mile and I saw several deer. It turned out to be a rainy weekend, but that was fine with me because my plan was just to rest, read and relax. There were so many little thoughtful touches--extra toiletries if you forgot something, treats. Everything was super clean and had everything I could possible need for a wonderful weekend. I'll definitely return.

What a piece of paradise so close to Athens

We had a short one night stay at the this location when no hotels were available the night before a UGA game. This property is 5 miles from where I used to live as a student at UGA 30 years ago. It’s much closer to town that I had thought it would be. The barn apartment was beautiful, clean, and the extra touches were everywhere (thank you for the frozen snickers minis). We were greeted lovingly by Lula Belle, the most friendly cat I’ve ever met. The property is quiet, with gorgeous outdoor surroundings, accessible to Athens, and so so worth staying in. The bed was super comfortable. There were lots of magazines and reading material about Athens. The candy machine was a hit and thank you for providing quarters. Everywhere you looked, there were thoughtful and loving touches. So going forward, we are planning to try and book here first rather than a hotel when visiting our daughters in Athens!

Found a little bit of quiet

I actually live only 15 miles from this property. I have a busy schedule, 3 wonderful (but loud) little ones, so I rarely have time to just wind down. I was looking for a "mom getaway". I wanted just a couple of nights of stillness and quiet. This place was exactly what I was looking for. The place is peaceful, the barn is cozy, the animals are nice to visit, and the property had wonderful trails for walking (though I did a lot of sleeping in). I was a bit concerned booking a rustic looking barn apartment. I can have issues staying away from home, as I easily get disgusted if my living area isn't very clean (especially the bed). I was happy to find that the place was spotless and the bed linen was very fresh, clean, and comfortable. I was even comfortable walking around without socks or slippers (a big deal for me). I would definitely recommend this place for someone needing a restful retreat.

Heaven on Earth !

My husband surprised me with a little weekend getaway and I was thrilled to find out that this property is on +30 acres, with lots of beautiful and kind animals. First, there is Dilbert aka "Duracell", when you will meet him, you will see that the nickname fits him very well, he has a very cute little brother ( so sorry I forgot his name). Then we have Baba Looey the gentle donkey, Chili the beautiful horse that loves cookies, Tinker the sweet little pony, Faye Lou and Lula Belle the beautiful cats that followed me, stayed with me the whole time when I went for a walk in the woods. All of these beautiful creatures made our stay so meaningful. Last but not least, Leslie and Penny are two very nice Ladies, they welcomed us with so much kindness. They went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. We left this place this morning but we already plan on going back because we left a little piece of our hearts in this fabulous place. May God bless you abundantly Leslie and Penny, we are blessed and happy to know you and hope to see you again very soon.

A heavenly vacation

I can’t say enough good things about Penny Lane Retreat. Starting with the hosts - Leslie and Penny are both lovely and so accommodating. They’ve done such a wonderful job including small touches that make a big difference, from a binder of information to makeup removing wipes. Leslie even brought us a picnic blanket when we mentioned wanting to stargaze in the field. The only thing cuter than the barn itself is all the animals on the farm! We had so much fun snuggling with the cats, playing with the dog, and feeding the ponies and donkey. They are all so sweet and added a really fun element to our vacation. The property is so beautiful. We were really needing a peaceful place to relax for the weekend, and Penny Lane retreat more than provided that. The pastures, the ponds, the trees - all of it is so scenic that you can entertain yourself just by staring out the window all day. We were shocked to find a place like this so close to Athens. You would never know you’re only a few minutes away! We will be recommending this place to all of our friends and family, and we will be coming back as soon as we can!

Best Calm Quite Restful Stay Available in Athens...Period!

Graduation Weekend in Athens. I cannot imagine even game days in Athens to be more chaotic, crowded, no parking, packed, etc. We first looked at hotels downtown - good luck with that unless you book for graduation weekend a year in advance. So...other than some $700+ per night options, I decided to 'take the road less traveled'. And boy, did we hit a HOME RUN!!! Just 15 minutes from downtown, you would think we had traveled an hour and 20-years back to a beautiful horse (and donkey!!!) farm. A very nice 1 BR, 1 Bath 'condo' on the opposite side of a working barn with all the modern conveniences! If you are not into rustic settings and the smell of nature, this is not for you. But if you are this person, you will not find a better place to escape the ever-growing metropolitan style-of-life that Athens has become + all the stress/anxiety that comes with it. Peaceful walking trails along the creek into a pristine forest lead you to a beautiful pond and pavilion with rockers and swings only a short 1/4 mile walk from the barn. Circle another mile or so on the private walking trails (or biking if you bring them) No sounds other than nature. Snacks for the horses (and Baba Looey of course) are provided along with all the essentials of home. Even the 'human' snacks were a welcome surprise for us on arrival. Only one TV - honestly, I never watched it! I was in the hammock or enjoying the quiet and never missed it! Thank you Penny Lane!!! Signed, Well Rested
