Location is perfect for visiting capital reef! Very quiet with a horse, cows and many deer. The host was awesome.beautiful backyard to enjoy the stars and sunset.
We loved staying at Elk Valley Ranch. Such a beautiful and comfortable place. Well appointed, private, and relaxing. The views are lovely, and we enjoyed sitting in the gazebo each evening watching the stars come out. About 15-20 min to Capital Reef NP.
We had a very enjoyable stay at this large, private, well appointed home in a beautiful bucolic setting. It was wonderful to have a comfortable bed, shower and kitchen as an alternative to car/tent camping. The location provides access to Capitol Reef NP, Escalante NM, Dixie NF with varied and innumerable hikes.
We look forward to returning in the future to continue exploring the area.
We loved the gorgeous, peaceful, pastoral location that was close to Capitol Reef. Playing pickleball with the sounds of cows lowing in the background was unique and special. If we're ever in the area again, we will return.
This property, which is located down a dirt road on a ranch, was really amazing. The house is well-cared for and the yard and surrounding areas were impressive. The property was very quiet and had a lot of wildlife roaming around. Would definitely recommend.
We all loved this property! Tim and his wife were very responsive when we contacted them with questions prior to our arrival.
Comfortable and stocked with everything we needed.
We all loved watching the Mule deer herd prancing by the front yard on both of the mornings. There were at least 30 of themâŠ
We all would highly recommend staying.
We really did have a great time, and we would go back, for sure. The biggest downside was the dishes in the cupboard were pretty dirty/greasu, so we wound up doing them all before preparing meals.
This is a wonderful property. The decoration is first class, and the property is setup very well for a comfortable and relaxing stay. the night sky is incredible.
We had an issue of locating the ranch, as it is well off the beaten path. Apple maps only gets you in the ballpark. We finally (after several unanswered calls) got a hold of Tim who led us into the property.
Overall, a lovely place to stay.
Perfect place for an extended family to stay In Capitol Reef NP area
We (four adults and a 1 and 1/2 year old grandson) spent three lovely, peaceful nights here. We spent one full and two half days in the NP and a half day driving scenic route 12 to small, but very interesting Anasazi State Park in Boulder. Each night we returned to Elk Valley Ranch to cook dinner in the well appointed kitchen, relax on the comfortable couches, clean up in the sparkling bathrooms, and sleep in the comfortable beds. Following the directions sent by the owner, we had no difficulty finding the place and loved the deep quiet and beautiful views. Our grandson loved the birds and the bunnies in the yard and on the dirt road. I would return to Elk Valley Ranch and highly recommend it.
We were looking for a fun place to get away with our kids and we couldn't have been happier! This ranch house was secluded, yet close enough to Capitol Reef National Park and a little town for dinner. Sandy was so wonderful to work with. We had a few issues with the house and she was on it right away and resolved everything. The highlight was the pickleball courts!! When we weren't out hiking or fishing, we did pickleball challenges with our kids. So fun. Sunsets and stars at night are beautiful. We will be back.
Definitely one of the top couple of VRBOs we have stayed in. I can't think of enough positive words. It's spotless - it's large - perhaps 12' ceilings. Filled with European style furniture that given it an Old World flavor. The three piece sectionals cushions must be three feet across - so comfortable. If you love nature and peaceful surroundings its on a ranch and you can see cattle in the field across the entry road. For stargazers - clear nights are incredible. Beds are so comfortable. The owners encourage you to walk around the ranch and enjoy...and its only about 20 minutes from the Capitol Reef Visitors Center. Really hated to leave. Its a 5+.
We loved our stay! The kids rotated who slept on the couch, so that wasnât much of an issue. Pickleball in such a beautiful setting made sleeping on the couch worth it!
Make sure to double check the address with the owner. VRBO had the wrong address, so we had to contact the owner in order to find the house. Tim responded quickly and helped us find our way.
Most of the roads, including the scenic drive, in Capitol Reef were closed. This made exploration challenging. We chose to do one short hike in the park, Hickman Bridge, and spend the majority of our time in Fishlake National Forest. Our whole family loved canyoneering with Capitol Reef Adventure Company!
If you need more than a few basic groceries, itâs worth the drive into Loa to a main grocery store. Chuck Wagon General Store was great for a few quick items and boxed lunches to take for a full day hiking.
Weâd love to visit the area again when more of the park is accessible and wouldnât hesitate to stay at the Elk Ranch again.
The property is in a great location as it is in remote location which we like but close enough to the Capitol Reef Visitor Center. The only issue we had was the property had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The host responded to us immediately when we informed him of the issue and came right over to take care of getting the property cleaned. We went into the park while the house was being cleaned. Due to the quick cleaning that was done the property was not as clean as we would have liked it to have been. We liked everything about the property and had a good stay.
What a gem. This listing particularly the barn was a step back into a movie set for Bonanza or perhaps more currently, Yellowstone. Beautiful antiques, well appointed and supplied, this was a restful surprise from National Park trecking.
This was a fantastic rental house. Itâs in a secluded valley with rock cliffs, green pastures, and friendly horses. The master bedroom was easily large enough to fit a king inflatable mattress for our girls. The house itself was well appointed and attractive. The big kitchen was great for meal prep. The gazebo was lovely for grilling and using the fire pit. Tim, the property manager/owner, was responsive and very helpful. The only trouble we had was originally finding the property. Do NOT click on VRBOâs link for directions.
This well maintained and secluded property provides all the comforts of home with beautiful views and easy access to Utah 12. Located a short drive from the main road the home is a cozy 2 bedroom with a well equipped Kitchen. Our family of three had ample room and the home could accommodate twice as many comfortably. Hosts were attentive and responsive to communication - this is a highly recommended location if you plan on touring Capitol Reef for a couple of days. We plan on returning for another Llama hike (google it) and we will certainly be staying at this property again.
We had a great two nights at this off the beaten path ranch. The property description and amenities were as advertised, and the home was very clean. Watching the deer jumping over the neighbors fence, grazing in their yard, along with the cows in the pasture, made for a unique, pleasant experience. Would definitely stat here again
