Well-designed and furnished home in peaceful setting. We especially appreciated the views of surrounding wilderness areas and the roof terrace for watching stars and a meteor shower. We would happily stay here in the future!

Can’t say enough about this beautiful property! Perfect location for our hiking trip in Capitol Reef. The information drawer and binder were very helpful. Outdoor area just as nice as the inside. Layout perfect for 2 couples. Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed!

Peaceful paradise near Capitol Reef

If you're looking for a private property with amazing views very near Capitol Reef, look no further. No neighbors, natural landscaping so all the creatures visit, rooftop deck, etc. This was the best rental we've stayed in...... ever. The "steel house" served as a wonderful home base for all the adventures in and around Capitol Reef. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our too short 2 night stay in the Steel House. Incredible home, supplied with everything we needed, very comfortable bed, wish we could have stayed longer. Easy drive into Capitol Reef National Park. Highly recommend!

Great Getaway

Spent the week with a high school friend and really enjoyed being able to relax with nature, spend time outside listening to the wind rush through the trees and soak in the amazing views of mountains in the background!

Peace, quiet and lovely design

We spent three nights in May and will certainly return. The steel house is one of the cleanest and most thoughtfully designed and stocked rentals we've found. It's a tranquil, comfortable home about five minutes from Torrey, 25 minutes from Capitol Reef Park. We hiked near the house and in the park, went to dinner in Torrey and also cooked in so we could enjoy the gas fire pit and the sunsets. We wanted to stargaze from the rooftop deck but kept falling asleep too early.

A tranquil retreat

This is a beautiful home with gorgeous views and tasteful decor. The place was very neat and well appointed. We used the kitchen to make breakfast every morning and did our laundry. We enjoyed the surround sound speakers and didn’t miss the tv. The check in was very easy, although google maps initially sent us to the wrong spot on the road. I would recommend using the Steele house marker as a better reference. The location was perfect: close to Capitol Reef but secluded and quiet. We did a lot of hiking and driving and got good rest at night. We enjoyed the views from the rooftop although the days we were there were a bit chilly and too windy for the fire pit. Would highly recommend and would love to stay again if in the area. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay!

Relax away from the crowds

We prefer homes in quiet locations with outside views & the Steel House did not disappoint. Large windows in the main room brought the outside in (many birds, jackrabbits, & a deer family were regular visitors). We enjoyed lunch & relaxing on the large back porch. The upper deck was a highlight & became an evening ritual for sunset views & discussions of our daily hikes. The stargazing was superb & we were fortunate to observe the comet visible in Oct. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Exceptional home

This is a fabulous home. The design and features are awesome! It is a quiet location with easy access and a great deck, fire pit, roof deck and well organized kitchen among the highlights. It was a joy to stay at this home while we hiked for 4 days at Capitol Reef. We highly recommend this home!

Beautiful Home with Beautiful Views

A beautiful property tucked away from nearby neighbors. The bed was comfy, the home very clean with lovely touches. The rooftop views were gorgeous and we enjoyed stargazing at night. The large driveway and access to the garage was a nice bonus. We saw deer and a black-tailed jackrabbit roaming the property. Excellent experience!

An Amazing Haven

The Steel House was a comfortable, beautiful, and romantic place to spend time in this inspiring part of Utah. Secluded, expansive views, well-appointed, and thoughtfully arranged, this was one of our best experiences while traveling to date.

Wonderful Stay

We loved our stay and took advantage of the sunrises/sunsets on the rooftop deck! The fire pit was very relaxing and we had a great BBQ. It was removed enough from the main town to have plenty of peace and quiet yet not too far away from everything. We would highly recommend this VRBO to everyone!

My husband and I first saw this area in 1995, when we were touring all the national parks in Utah. We hadn't planned to stop in Torrey/Teasdale, but we were having such a good time we decided to take an extra day before going to Bryce from Bluff. We fell in love with Capitol Reef, Torrey, and Teasdale, and two weeks after going home came back again and bought land. Always wanted to build but never could do it. Then saw this house and fell in love again! Sold land, bought house, and here we are!! I am a writer and retired college professor. My husband is an illustrator. We live in Key West, Florida, but our hearts are in the red rock country.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

It is perfectly sited. You feel on top of the world yet protected, near what you need, but secluded. There is a sense of spaciousness inside and out, light and ease. The decor is simple and calming. This house is a portal to nature. You can go up on the roof to look at the sunrise, sunset, stars. You can sit outside at the fire pit or walk the labyrinth. But even if you're inside, you have the natural world all around you. You can sit in the living room and watch birds fly among the junipers and pinyons close to the house. You see occasional rabbits (close) and deer (beyond our fencing), and, across the road, cattle. Verdant fields growing livestock crops trace much of Teasdale Road, with their cheerful irrigation sprinklers on most of the day, and, looking up, Boulder Mountain and beautiful sandstone formations like the Coxcomb and Fish Creek Cove face you as you drive to Torrey for the proverbial quart of milk and home again.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Easy access to Torrey but peace, quiet, privacy at the same time. Two completely separate bedrooms make it perfect for two couples. Music throughout the house from built-in speakers. Air jets in master bath for soothing water massage after hiking. Laid out for hikers and fishermen with optional entrance through garage, with bench and storage for outdoor gear. Well-equipped kitchen. Baskets, photographs, and a spectacular wood sculpture by Michael Bauermeister. Not a generic hotel or rental house, this is the home of two people who seek beauty in art and nature.
