Great stay. No major issues. Clean and private location. Host was very accommodating and helpful. Forrest was great!Had all that we needed! Pizza place in town was great!3rd bedroom is not quite what we expected (description correct, but pic wasnât shown on site) but we made it work with no real issue. Pleasant stayTip during hot summer days: we put the portable fans next to the upstairs AC vents which seemed to help cool down the bedrooms better.
We stayed here while visiting Shenandoah National Park. The beds were very comfortable and the kids liked the "closet" room. The kitchen had everything we needed, and being able to do laundry was very helpful after sweaty and dirty hikes. We loved looking out the window and seeing the cows!
My family loved the farmhouse! The land it sits on is amazing, with river frontage and views from the house and yard of Blue Ridge, and Massanutten. The house is well preserved making it a private superb gem of the valley.
The house and property was peacful and secluded. Our kids enjoyed playing in the yard. We loved the bunk beds being in a room attached to ours as our young kids still want to be close to us at bedtime. Would reccomend to anyone wanting a quiet, slow vacation.
Excellent location and property but not adequate for 7 people
Very beautiful property and location, just dissapointed that it was listed for 7 people in VRBO while it really has 2 bedrooms (that can sleep 4 comfortably) plus one additional storage type room with two benches which can sleep two more but not in a very comfortable way especially if you have any type of claustrophobia. There is not really a space for 7th person. Three of us basically slept in the living room where the TV is (one on the couth, two on the floor). Except that issue, everything else is great.
This was our 4th stay here - the kids always have a blast! We had planned to come in the summer but Hurricane Debbie derailed our plans. Forrest was extremely helpful and we were able to make it down in November when the kids had a break from school. As always, the location canât be beat. We canât wait to return!
It was good to get out of the city and have a place to star gaze and watch the wildlife that is also close to Massanutten Resort. Would definitely stay again.
We had the BEST time at the farmhouse. The location is beautiful, the house is clean and well stocked, and the host is so responsive and helpful. Our family absolutely loved our time here! Canât recommend enough.
Wonderful stay at the farmhouse. We had a great long weekend with grandparents. The house was clean and perfect for our purposes. The cows were fun for our girls to âtalkâ to each morning. The location couldnât be better and the quiet serenity of the house was very welcome
Perfect location near the AT in a beautiful setting of pasture, crops, and calves. Just a simple farm house a little off the beaten path. A perfect getaway
What a wonderful escape in the beautiful countryside! We loved our stay at the charming Farmhouse. The house itself was well stocked, clean, and spacious. The beds were so comfy! Plenty of places for our family to sprawl out. The yard was big and it was fun to see the cows in the meadow and walk down to the river. The host was great and responded quickly. Located near hiking, ski resort, and Harrisonburg. Great property!!!!
The reviews are all stellar for a reason--they are well earned. No complaints from anyone in the family. Great launch point to visit Shenandoah NP where we spent several days hiking. Only negative there is we didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the property. Would love to stay here again and spend more time on the porch, by the river, in town....Two things that might be helpful (somewhat covered in other reviews). The last bit of the walk to the river isn't obvious. The given directions are fine and get you close, but the key is to go through the last gate on the left instead of continuing straight into the clearing by the trees. Otherwise you'd have to go over the fence surrounding the clearing. There's no set path from the last gate to the river, and it was a little overgrown in late July, but it's not difficult. Second, the A/C will definitely cool the house. It was pretty warm upstairs when we arrived in the middle of a week of upper 90's, and it took a bit to cool things off. But by the time we went to bed it was comfortable throughout the house.
Stopped on our way north . Spent most of our time at Shenandoah. WAs the perfect spot. I set up my lap top on the front porch to work while watching the gentle cows ! Kids loved it as well.
This was our second stay here - this time in spring, so enjoyed trees leafing out, Purple Violets, Virginia bluebells and other wildflowers along the river - while it was snowing at home.
Teens had a great weekend at Massanutten, we were able to catch up with my son and his girlfriend at JMU, Farmhouse has beautiful views and is cozy and CLEAN! We love this gem in Elkton.
My grown daughter and I and our dogs loved our visit here. The property is exactly as listed and spotless. We loved the cows as neighbors. The river is nearby as is the town of Elkton which is one of the friendliest spots you can find. I look forward to coming back.
