Had a wonderful stay. Beautiful house and area. Really did have everything one could need! Check in process was easy and information sent well before hand. The third room isnât strictly a room - mattresses on raised wooden frames in low ceiling space off one of the main rooms. This wasnât a problem for us though. We couldnât find how to get to the river (maybe itâs just us!) - some more specific directions might be helpful for future guests
We so enjoyed our stay here and this lovely home on such beautiful property! We were are to explore the local towns, breweries, wineries, and Shenandoah National Park.
We've stayed here multiple times - always a great time. Pet friendly, close to many attractions, and plenty of space for our dog to run. The kids caught several fish along the river at the back of the property!
We loved the place. It was filled with all sorts of cool decor & had a little of everything you might need while vacationing. Thanks for letting us experience the place while visiting the Shenandoah Valley!
The reviews are all stellar for a reason--they are well earned. No complaints from anyone in the family. Great launch point to visit Shenandoah NP where we spent several days hiking. Only negative there is we didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the property. Would love to stay here again and spend more time on the porch, by the river, in town....Two things that might be helpful (somewhat covered in other reviews). The last bit of the walk to the river isn't obvious. The given directions are fine and get you close, but the key is to go through the last gate on the left instead of continuing straight into the clearing by the trees. Otherwise you'd have to go over the fence surrounding the clearing. There's no set path from the last gate to the river, and it was a little overgrown in late July, but it's not difficult. Second, the A/C will definitely cool the house. It was pretty warm upstairs when we arrived in the middle of a week of upper 90's, and it took a bit to cool things off. But by the time we went to bed it was comfortable throughout the house.
Great stay. No major issues. Clean and private location. Host was very accommodating and helpful. Forrest was great!Had all that we needed! Pizza place in town was great!3rd bedroom is not quite what we expected (description correct, but pic wasnât shown on site) but we made it work with no real issue. Pleasant stayTip during hot summer days: we put the portable fans next to the upstairs AC vents which seemed to help cool down the bedrooms better.
Excellent location and property but not adequate for 7 people
Very beautiful property and location, just dissapointed that it was listed for 7 people in VRBO while it really has 2 bedrooms (that can sleep 4 comfortably) plus one additional storage type room with two benches which can sleep two more but not in a very comfortable way especially if you have any type of claustrophobia. There is not really a space for 7th person. Three of us basically slept in the living room where the TV is (one on the couth, two on the floor). Except that issue, everything else is great.
We stayed here while visiting Shenandoah National Park. The beds were very comfortable and the kids liked the "closet" room. The kitchen had everything we needed, and being able to do laundry was very helpful after sweaty and dirty hikes. We loved looking out the window and seeing the cows!
BEAUTIFUL property and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a little walk down to the water to view it but not easily accessed for fishing or direct water access, there is a bunch of trees and brush in the way. We had an awesome time exploring and our dog enjoyed it too. Would definitely rent again if in the area.
The house and property was peacful and secluded. Our kids enjoyed playing in the yard. We loved the bunk beds being in a room attached to ours as our young kids still want to be close to us at bedtime. Would reccomend to anyone wanting a quiet, slow vacation.
My family loved the farmhouse! The land it sits on is amazing, with river frontage and views from the house and yard of Blue Ridge, and Massanutten. The house is well preserved making it a private superb gem of the valley.
This was our fifth time staying at this adorable farmhouse! Very cozy and clean and minutes away from Massanutten. Typically we drop the kids off to snowboard and we go explore the neighboring towns! Cute wineries, a lavender farm, and JMU near by!
What a wonderful escape in the beautiful countryside! We loved our stay at the charming Farmhouse. The house itself was well stocked, clean, and spacious. The beds were so comfy! Plenty of places for our family to sprawl out. The yard was big and it was fun to see the cows in the meadow and walk down to the river. The host was great and responded quickly. Located near hiking, ski resort, and Harrisonburg. Great property!!!!
This was our 4th stay here - the kids always have a blast! We had planned to come in the summer but Hurricane Debbie derailed our plans. Forrest was extremely helpful and we were able to make it down in November when the kids had a break from school. As always, the location canât be beat. We canât wait to return!
This was a great location to visit Shenandoah National Park for a few days. It was a 15 minute drive for us to the Swift Run entrance. The farm itself is peaceful & beautiful! Our kids loved the cows out front, and we enjoyed Star viewing each night.
I think 3 bedrooms is misleading⊠the 3rd âbedroomâ is a large closet/attic off of the master bedroom, with wooden pallet beds. It was ok for my elementary age kids, but if Iâd had teens or other adults expecting an actual bedroom with comfortable beds, we wouldâve been disappointed. But overall it was a good stay!
Wonderful stay at the farmhouse. We had a great long weekend with grandparents. The house was clean and perfect for our purposes. The cows were fun for our girls to âtalkâ to each morning. The location couldnât be better and the quiet serenity of the house was very welcome
Perfect location near the AT in a beautiful setting of pasture, crops, and calves. Just a simple farm house a little off the beaten path. A perfect getaway
We stayed at this farmhouse in Elkton while spending a few days hiking in Shenandoah NP. The location is very very convenient. The atmosphere of the home is cozy and relaxing. It is clean and well stocked with kitchen essentials. Communication with the owner was prompt and clear. I highly recommend it!
Property is fine - the house is clean and had great views of the mountains. Very unique to have a 3-minute walk to the riverside.
The neighbor is very rude and unpleasant. We ended our visit early after encountering him as we were taking a walk along the driveway. We communicated with the owner about the situation, and he was responsive and refunded us part of our stay.
My grown daughter and I and our dogs loved our visit here. The property is exactly as listed and spotless. We loved the cows as neighbors. The river is nearby as is the town of Elkton which is one of the friendliest spots you can find. I look forward to coming back.
