The property is appx. 75 acres with beautiful hiking trails. The house is over 200 years old and stunning throughout. There is a lot of space for a big group. We enjoyed cocktails watching the sunset each night. The kids loved the fire pit where we made sâmores. Stunning getaway, perfect for a peaceful weekend to relax.
I have 4 adult children with partners who live throughout the country. We all gathers here for my sonâs wedding. The grounds are beautiful! The house had everything we needed and it was extremely spacious. I have very high standards for cleanliness thatâs why I only gave it 3 stars, the house was neat and everything in place, I understand that with a 200 year old house thereâs only so much you can do. The one thing that I wouldâve love to see updated was the bathrooms and closet space.
The hostess was wonderful and answered all of my questions quickly.
We sat around porch till the wee hours of the morning made beautiful memories and appreciated the basket filled with throw blanket.
The house definitely has the very special vibe and all to us did enjoy it tremendously! The house is very old and it makes it beautiful. So if you are looking fore the modern type of comfort - that is different.
The host is very responsive and supportive. Quick answer, and looks like care about the guest a lot.
If you are looking for the quiet getaway, house with the special atmosphere at the upstate - this is the great one!
For our family thanksgiving, we enjoyed staying at this magical house. Itâs the perfect quick city getaway to be completely removed from the stresses of normal life.
What we loved about the home: aside from the aura of peace and tranquility in the remote location, we enjoyed the many open spaces in the house for gathering or personal activities. The live plants, musical instruments and eclectic artwork add character that is hard to describe, other than extremely special and calming. For a historic house, it was surprisingly warm on a freezing winter weekend and the main fireplace was a joy to have with real wood that the owners thoughtfully provided.
Our group had several young children so we designated play areas that were safe for them (away from musical instruments for example). There is a large collection of toys, books and art supplies that they loved playing with.
The house is enormous and each bedroom is unique and cozy. Perfect for big groups or large families to each have a private room. The bathrooms are a bit unconventional (clearly modernized additions to the home).
The grounds are spacious and great for outdoor explorers. Take caution around the old barn (where old structures once stood) as little kids may want to explore.
The kitchen is spacious and perfect for a large family Thanksgiving gathering. Our only feedback is that it could have had some more kitchen supplies for large groups (e.g., microwave and more wine glasses).
We loved our stay at this property and would love to return. Adeeb is a communicative and kind host, deserving of the âsuper hostâ badge. Thanks for a lovely stay!
We stayed at the farmhouse with two families with kids and had a great time. The house had plenty of room for the kids to spread out and play. There was a lot of snow in the ground and a great sledding hill to enjoy. Fireplaces provided warmth and coziness.
I rented this property with a few friends this winter, and we absolutely loved how unique, quiet, cozy, and eclectic the house was. It has a great energy! The house is well stocked, comfortable, and the hosts were very responsive. It was a lovely weekend getaway, and I would highly recommend this place!
We loved the sense of privacy here so close to the city. The house was very bohemian in style but also had everything We needed. We loved all the instruments and used them. The fire pit was great at night too. It was a nice combo of modern but with a cool vibe. Adeel was very responsive to all requests too.
Weâve stayed at a lot of vacation homes over the years and this one is a gem. Itâs a uniquely restored farmhouse in a peaceful location away from it all. Our group went mountain biking in the area for 3 days and then enjoyed the firepit and open kitchen for meals together. Everyone loved the space!
We had a great weekend with our family, in a 200 year old house full of character and history and very private, with the closest neighbor in earshot was the wildlife! The owner did not intrude but was helpful if needed. The only complaint is that only 2 of the bedrooms had air conditioners and we visited on literally the hottest weekend of the year, but we were still comfortable and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly unique getaway from nyc.
We visited as a group for a writing retreat, and this home was perfect. It's an old house, but beautifully and creatively updated - the personal touches really shine through. We loved the spacious kitchen, plus the BBQ and fire pit outside! The multiple living rooms and back porch (with a beautiful view!) made for ample space for people to spend their days, and each of the bedrooms was charming in their own way. We hope to return!
