Perfect place for our rest and relaxation trip. The place was clean and situated very close to the main river with plenty of kayaks and a canoe. We really enjoyed the decor and views. Our hosts were very responsive with any questions we had. Thank you again!
This property is all about location. I really donât like to give a bad review, but this mobile home really should be replaced. If youâre looking to be on the water and you donât mind accommodation being older and a little rundown this is for you.
Monday through Friday stay @ this amazing location...swam in the canal and paddled in minutes to the river daily...breakfast/lunch and dinner on the screened porch( thank goodness for the screening) ...gets buggy. Family was sad to leave would love to stay here again
This place is a cute mobile home. Has a great location, private dock (with kayaks & canoe), & nice screened in patio. So close to weekie wachee park (mermaid show & buccaneer bay). We had more fun at this place (swimming & boating) than any other place we visited. Fast & friendly owners, with great communication.
We enjoyed our stay! Great location and got to see fireworks for the new year. Everything needed inside, clean and the beds/ couches were comfy. Spent most of the time on the dock or screened in porch. Thanks for hosting!!
We had the best time staying at the Mermaid Cove. Bonus with the kayaks.
The trailer is a little outdated but was still nice. The bathroom and kitchen/living area is renovation. The outdoor screen porch was so great to sit out and enjoy in the morning and evenings.
It was a very short stay too short actually ,had a wonderful experience here ,everything that we needed was provided ,loved the little cottage , the hosts had left instructions on arrival and explained how everything worked, including restaurants ,things to do. Etc. Will definitely do this again
The rental is right on the water and the area is beautiful. The watercrafts were in poor shape but we brought our own and it was amazing to be near the river. The place was clean and had all of the basics and comforts of home. The floor is not steady and I'm not sure what that is about but we loved our stay there!!!
Great host. Their contractor or handyman did a poor job. Decorated beautifully. Comfortable furniture. Quite neighborhood. Cleaning lady did basic good cleaning But at home I help my daughter clean her AirBB. We wipe everything down.. Old dried up food at bottom of trash can. And dirty windowsills. None of this is the owners fault. I would absolutely stay their again. Owners need better cleaning services. And a contractor that knows how to read a measuring tape. Lol. The hosts always responded immediately. The trailer is very homey and comfortable.can
This place is exactly as you see- itâs a great inexpensive weekend getaway. We saw a manatee as soon as we arrived, an owl came to sit right next to us for an hour or so, wood storks, and more. We spent the day kayaking and enjoying all the springs has to offer.
Itâs not fancy and yes, some new living room furniture would help for rainy days inside; but itâs clean and a good value and we were very grateful for a last minute booking request approval!
Property was dated, but consistent with price. Instructions for checkin and operations were not upto date! Good access to river from canal. Kayaks and canoe good. Dock needs attention. But overall good for a couple of nights
if you are renting in the summer, just know that you could turn the a/c down to 32* but it will never get cool until the sun goes down and the mobile home cools down. a tower fan is on location. very clean and quiet with a nice patio. didn't use the boats or BBQ grill.
We had a wonderful time at the river! This home had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and had plenty of towels provided. We enjoyed drinking our coffee out on the dock in the morning and grilling in the evening. Like others have mentioned, this is a trailor and is outdated but it is clean and was all we needed. I feel like the price was fair for this home. We werent looking for anything "fancy" but somewhere that was clean that we could shower, eat, and sleep and this house met that ticket. The house is on a canal and the water wasnt clear, but it was a short kayak trip to the clear water on the main part of the river. The hosts were very responsive and communication was clear. Thank you for hosting us!
We had a fantastic stay at Mermaid Cove. The owners made sure that everything we needed (or could need) was thought of....even a citronella candle on the porch with a lighter sitting on top of it!!
The location was perfect...right on the water. The kayaks were a great plus! We had a lot of fun paddling around.
The only complaint we have is that the floor had some warping and the front door was difficult to open widely enough to bring our stuff in. But for us, this was a minor thing considering that we spent most of our time outside.
The first night we were there a raccoon greeted us outside the back porch. I think he wanted some of our cheese burgers. We did not feed him. We cooked inside because there really is no gas grill. Itâs a charcoal grill and we were a bit impatient after traveling. The property could have used a rake. We cleaned a lot of dog poop. From previous renters along with our own dogs. Inside had everything we needed and was clean.
The floors in this mobile home were soft. The under floor needs replacing. The wooden deck chairs were filthy as were the deck tables. The entry door would only open half way. The interior door in the small bedroom would only opened half way. The exterior skirting was filthy and all falling off.
But, we all made the best of it and had a good time.
Pictures deceiving, grill broken, door broken, kayak had hole in it, yard not well taken care of, floor caving in in kitchen and tripped several times. Would not recommend this place to anyone or stay there again.. Letting the owner know and said or did nothing to improve our stay.
The lock box on door did not exist as per instructions. We were all guys so easy to please. Surprised you expect guest to do the laundry ? You charge a cleaning g fee. Bathroom needs work. Mold, dirty window, cracked tub etc. kitchen nice. Could clean the algae off the tables. Love the location. If wives would have been with it it would be different report.
The space was clean, kitchen and bath had been updated and the kitchen was well stocked. The bed was soft with a thick memory foam mattress and nice linens. The owner was very responsive to a couple of problems we had. We enjoyed the area and the neighbor hood was fine
This is a 50 ish year old mobile home and it VERY MUCH shows its age. There were quite a few things that were in disrepair inside and out. It felt old. My biggest complaint is the owner has chosen not to have pictures of the bedrooms in the listing. They are not updated. The walls are water rippled, the ceilings are low. They have old dark brown carpet that is fraying in the door frame. Had I seen pictures of the bedrooms I likely would have passed on this rental.
Honesty is the best policy to help others make good choices in where to stay...
This neighborhood is a great location to reach the river. The inside of the trailer was okay but the couches were rattan and not very comfortable. We weren't able to get live TV but it says there was live TV. The kayaks there were beat up and very hard to use as they were not very seaworthy. The dock is not in good shape and the latter was terrible. Three grown adults had issues trying to get out of the water. The front door only opens halfway so I could barely get my bags through the door. The master bed was soft and uncomfortable. The double bed on the bottom bunk has a big hole underneath so the mattress sagged through. Needless to say we didn't get a lot of sleep and I only use the kayaks and doc once. Think you should make it a little more user friendly and less dangerous if you're going to rent the place out. I would not stay here again unless all the above is changed the new better more comfortable stuff and safe. This place does have potential but..
Jason and Andrea are lifelong Florida residents. They both grew up in South Florida in the 1970-80's and recall that Old Florida that seems to be disappearing. Both have a deep love for Florida and could not imagine living anywhere else. Jason and Andrea have been married since 1994 and have loved taking travel adventures for anniversaries and family trips. They love finding places to explore with character and beauty , packed with neat things to see and do and are affordable.
In 2010, the family went on it's first Nature Coast adventure, tubing on the Ichetucknee River and scalloping in Steinhatchee. What a blast! In subsequent summers, the family explored Crystal River, Suwanee River, Homosassa Springs and finally Weeki Wachee Springs / Hernando Beach. Weeki Wachee was by far the favorite with its natural surroundlings, waterfront location, proximity to the river, gulf attractions, restaurants and shops. They returned the next year to the same vacation rental home. Since the previous years stay, a lot of thought had been given to purchasing a similar property in Weeki Wachee. Well, lo and behold...upon arrival the property across the canal was for sale and cried out for glorification!
Weeki Wachee River Retreats, where "Mermaid Cove" is located is loacted in the middle of State and National forest preserved lands. The gulf coast is only 10 minutes away, town with all the conveniences is only 10 minutes the other direction. Local attractions include kayaking, cycling, boating, fishing, scalloping and exploring. The entire Nature Coast has so many natural beauties to discover. Mermaid Cove sits right on the water. The Living areas and screen porch overlook the water. The dock offers a peaceful and relaxing place to sit. and watch mullet spring out of the water and manatees cruise by The water is lovely to swim in and the river is a very short paddle away . The river is navigable for small boats such as a pontoon, bowrider or fishing boat and is conveniently close to the gulf. The neighbors are wonderful and the vacationers are friendly. What better location could there be? This is the "Old Florida" that Jason and Andrea grew up in and have now rediscovered!
