Had a great 3 day fishing weekend to celebrate Father's Day. Cabin was as listed and very well up kept. Host was easy to work with and communicative. We had a great stay and thank you for hosting us.
The 6 of us had a great time while at the cabin. Everything we needed was provided and exactly as described. Cabin was clean and comfy, and close to everything you might need for a weekend getaway.
This is our 3rd time here which should tell you how much we like it. The view is to die for and we had so much fun canoeing with the provided canoe and playing on the floaties we brought. It's a quick drive to Hayward where we also had fun and some nice dinners! Highly recommended!
This was a nice cabin and beautiful location overlooking Round Lake. Swimming and boating in Round Lake was perfect. Crystal clear water. We watched the hummingbird on the feeder by the deck. We would recommend this cabin.
I stayed here for 4 nights in June with my mom and 7 year old son. The weather didnât cooperate so we spent a lot of time inside playing games and relaxing. Internet worked great, streaming services and some tv channels. Kitchen is fully stocked with tons of supplies. Loved the big couch overlooking the lake views. Shower was hot with good pressure. Bed in the larger bedroom isnât comfortable and could be replaced (per my mom). Never used the wood stove but instructions were clear on how to use it. My son got duck itch twice swimming off the dock (before the rain started and then again 3 days after constant rain). Iâve been coming to Hayward for years and never had that happen. If it happens to you, wipe down head to toe with isopropyl alcohol and then apply cortisone cream. It stopped the itch within an hour. Owner is available to communicate anytime. Appreciate this homey Hayward cabin. Weâll be back!
We had a great time at the cabin. The cabin had everything we needed. Greg was the perfect host and answered all our questions. Round Lake is a beautiful lake and fishing was great! I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone. It is close to Hayward and the area has to much to see and do.
Greg was fantastic to work with. Very accommodating. Easy booking process. He supplied us with much info about his cabin and the lake including eating places, boat launches, rentals if interested. Was able to do some canoeing. Had a wonderful time. Will definitely book again. Thanks, Greg!
We had a fantastic time at Greg's cabin! It was as pictured. Clean and tidy; beautiful views over Round Lake. There are 50 steps down to the dock; we did not have a boat - brought paddle boards and floats. The lake is clear and sandy. We did the mountain bike trails near by and tubed down the Namekagon. Also went to a couple of recommended nearby restaurants. Thank you for a great trip!
Mountain biking. Fishing. Golfing. Swimming. The perfect spot to do it all. The cabin was just as pictured. Greg is a great host and did his best to put us on fish. We had the most luck when we found the fish cribs. A perfect get away!
The owner provided clear instructions and great information of the area such as where to eat, grocery shop and how to fish the lake. Caught some nice walleyes the first couple of days then it got slow. Was catching them on lindy rigs using crawlers when they were biting. Spent a day up at Cooper Falls hiking the park which was about an hour north. Well worth the drive. The cabin was clean and roomy with a nice deck that looks over the lake. It was no problem for my wife and I to climb the stairs up and down to the pier but would not recommend for those who are not somewhat physically fit and capable. All in all a great relaxing trip after the Labor Day weekend creating an empty lake.
Nice spot to stay on a clear water lake (Round Lake). Served us well for a fishing vacation as we visited 4 different water bodies in total all within 20 minutes of the cabin. Great cabin for 2 to 4 visitors though it will sleep 6. A couple extra spider webs had to be dealt with but it all worked out really well. And the eagles visited twice that we saw during our visit. Very cool. Would stay again if busing Sawyer County again.
Very nice property just as described on site. Great lake views from cabin and deck. Greg was communicative and pleasant throughout the process. Had severe storm hit just prior to our stay and called to report damage to dock and boat lift the next day, which didn't affect us as we were not bringing a boat. Good swimming right off dock. Stairs from cabin to lake are no joke however...50 steep steps. Nice restaurants closeby.
Overall worked well for our adult family.
Great quiet place, great location, everything we needed (bring your own bath towels), our host was very attentive, no unpleasant surprises, young deer wandered very close by as I enjoyed my morning coffee on the deck.
Highly recommend!!!!
This cabin was exactly what you want in a traditional Northwoods WI cabin. It was exactly as pictured and described. It was very clean, not a spider web in site. The heart of the cabin; kitchen, dining, living area was very spacious and easily accommodated our group of 5 adults. The kitchen was well stocked, newer oven/stove, coffee maker, toaster. The mattresses are all hard. I would strongly advise packing toppers for your mattresses. We packed a mattress topper for the queen bedroom and slept great. The others did not bring mattress toppers and never slept well. There are 51 stair steps down to the lake. We were fine with it as the stairs are very sturdy and have good handrails. Greg was super with communication. Round Lake is the clearest lake any of us has ever been on, no weeds, sandy bottom. No luck fishing but it is August and we knew that may be the case. One final thing, if you want to rent a boat we would strongly recommend M&M Rentals. We had a large pontoon delivered to the public boat launch on Round Lake and they were fabulous to work with. I would not hesitate to stay in this cabin again!
I live in Oregon full time but grew up in Rochester, Minnesota. My Mom and Dad built the cabin in 1985 and I inherited it in 2012. I've been there every year for at least 2 weeks with my family since 1985. I'm now a fully retired emergency physician. I spend about 4 weeks at the cabin each July doing repairs and maintenance, fishing, golfing, having reunions and relaxing and often come back for a couple weeks in May to open it up for the season and again in September to fish with friends, clean it up in preparation for shutting down for the winter.. In Oregon I grow a large garden with strawberries, fruit trees, flowers and vegetables.
I inherited the cabin from my parents in 2012. Dad was a physician at the Mayo Clinic but a fairly skilled carpenter too. He built the kitchen cabinets and lots of other things in the cabin. I've always loved the setting and the lake and hope to keep the cabin in the family, passing it down to my kids.
The lake is phenomenal, clear and nice swimming temperatures in the summer but the most compelling aspect is the view from the living area and deck. People always love it.
