Spider Lake Lodge is very nice! Everything was in perfect working order, and it was very clean. The master bed was super comfortable; I have to find it for home. The lake is very nice and has tons of fishing places. The lodge is on a very quiet small lake on the chain, and we caught plenty of fish right near the docks, The Loons were everywhere, and we also saw some babies with the parents. We took a day trip up north and visited the Big Manitou Falls and the Amnicon Falls both were very beautiful and only about an hour away. We also went up to Bayfield for early dinner and then down to Ashland to look around the Lake Superior shore towns. We made it back to Hayward for ice cream and were in the lodge by dark. I can't wait to visit again!!!
Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay very much. We had the whole place to ourselves which was very nice. We saw plenty of deer, rabbits and ducks. Our kids also loved the beach area! We highly recommend renting Scott's boat too. We spent so much time out on the water catching a lot of (smaller) fish.
After a rough year, we were ready for a family getaway and Scott's cabin on spider lake for the bill perfectly. The welcome basket of goodies was a nice touch. We took our vacation earlier this year and everything was wonderful. Cabin was perfect for our family. The lake was nice and fishing was good for us. Golf down the road at spider lake resort was a bonus. Kitchen was fully stocked. Comfortable beds, slept great. What's not to love? Thanks for everything!
We loved our time at the property! We knew it was a little bit away from the lake and still enjoyed it so much. The weather didn't cooperate and loved the screened 4 season porch that felt like we were in the woods without getting wet. We rented the pontoon and it was the best to be out on the lake. Be sure to get the email and phone number before getting on the road because GPS will not take you there. Scott was great to meet us at the road and drive us back after we got lost. :) My girls are ready to book it for next year and bring friends!
Very remote, very woodsy. SO glad we were able to use the pontoon; puttering around the lake was so great. Hearing the loons at night did my heart good. We had 4 adults staying, and another couple from Cable day-visited. Plenty of room for conversation, hanging out, etc. One caution: this particular unit was second-story, over a garage, with lots of exterior stairs. This was not mentioned in the description, and anyone who has difficulty with stairs should not rent this unit. That said, our whole group did have a lovely time.
The cabin was very clean and nicely furnished. Super cute. There are comfortable beds and a cozy couch and big chair to watch T.V. We saw a lot of does and fawns. We rented the Pontoon which was great! We explored the lakes and loved the boat. We caught, 1 Musky, several large and small mouth bass ,perch and panfish. Catch and release (for us). Hayward has a nice main street with many shops and we ate at the Steakhouse and Lodge ...good food. Scott was very responsive to questions. Overall, we loved our stay and it was too short!
Description was as listed. Very clean property. Perfect for our 5 day stay. Remote from town but we didnât mind! We also rented the pontoon boat. Scott was wonderful to work with and quick with responses to questions. Perfect northwoods experience and we enjoyed our stay very much!
Very nice place. All the amenities and extras were nice. Just wish I knew it was up stairs over the garage. Bad knees and all. But made due. Everything was great! Thanks
Nice, clean and cute cabin on calm and quiet part of lake
The cabin was very clean, all necessities we needed were available and in good condition, and had a nice modern updated interior. Very nice little cabin! Instructions provided were clear, and the gift basket of miscellaneous items for guests is a nice touch! The part of the lake this cabin is on is just lovely, very quiet, calm and serene.
We have owned The Mohawk since 2002. We purchased it to have access to the Spider Chain of Lake and to be able to enjoy everything the area has to offer all year-round. Snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, water sports and relaxation are all high on our priority list, and this cabin make it all possible. The cabin was remodeled in 2014 to include a new kitchen, all new flooring, new bathroom and we converted the original screen porch into a four season room to be enjoyed every day of the year regardless of the weather. My wife and I live int he Twin Cities in Minnesota and love the idea of sharing this cabin and this area with families and people who have visited in the past or are looking to get to know the area for the first time and are looking for comfortable accommodations.
This particular property offer the best of all possible features. Having been a family resort that has now been sold to private owners; there are still all the features that made it a great place for family vacations. Located on Fawn Lake (one of the smaller lakes of the chain) you get quiet enjoyment of the lake and beach. When you are ready to do some boating or tubing etc., the channel to Big Spider is just a thousand yards from the dock. Speaking of the dock, you will have use of a private slip for you boat, There is electricity and lights at the dock for your convenience.
Some the unique benefits of The Mohawk include its location on the property. The building sits above and behind the small seasonal cabins which allows for you to retreat at the end of the day to private peace and quiet. The large lawn space near the lake is a great benefit as well. It is a great place to set up lawn games/tournaments, or just grab a lawn chair and soak up some sun! This is not "ruffing it", the cabin is air conditioned, has wifi internet, satellite TV, and super comfortable beds. The fact that it is a year-round place give visitors the option to come enjoy the second season in the area, with access to trails less than a half mile away!
