The Lazy Loon checked all the boxes for our Up North getaway and the cabin amenities were top notch! The beds were comfortable, the cleanliness exceeded my high standards and our family of 4 enjoyed everything from sâmores over the campfire, canoeing and paddle boating (provided), fishing off the dock, tubing, kneeboarding, and paddle boarding which I highly recommend giving a try as this lake is perfect for beginners (like ourselves). Iâm so grateful for the memories that our boys will have from this trip! We are already looking forward to booking for next year!
Quiet and peaceful property on Smith Lake. Very clean and appears to be recently built or updated. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.
We highly recommend renting this cabin. Everything was wonderful. Beautifully maintained property on the water. God's blessings to the owners for sharing their cabin. R&G from Muskego, WI.
The cabin was very nice and clean with most everything needed for a great stay. Fishing was good even though the wind direction was not in our favor. The lake was quiet and had plenty of wildlife to enjoy seeing. Overall very good experience but would have liked a little sooner notice of items not supplied by the host! Would be good to get this at least a week or month ahead of the stay.
Overall property was super clean. Very Cute. Well decorated. Nice quiet property on the lake. There were a couple houses not too far away, but only saw one or two other boats on a busy July weekend. The main reason i didnât give it 5 stars was the AC situation. It didnât work when we got there (small wall unit upstairs). The owner did communicate as well as she could to get it running (there is zero cell service at this location with AT&T). Finally got it running after a bunch of texts/ while trying to put the kids down. weird unit/ very loud. also there is no Ac (or even fan) in the master bedroom. got very hot even with door open and if you wanted privacy would have been even worse. Adding a small ac unit to bedroom on first floor would be a great addition. or at least a fan. overall property was as described. and super clean. had pleasant stay generally.
We had a wonderful time at Lisa's property. Served us well for the kick off of the NICA MTB season. Close to Telemark and Hayward. Accommodations were perfect for our family of 4. Use of the lake with the paddle boat and pier was a nice addition as it was quite warm. We were a little bummed the lake was so weedy tight off shore so swimming off the pier wasn't an option. Once to the middle of the lake, it was lovely. Having use of the firepit was also a plus. Lisa was very responsive and helpful. We would stay again.
loved the place only had 2 minor complaints we had no bath towels so we had to purchase a couple of them at the local walmart and the floor in my bedroom felt sandy or dirty other than that we love this cabin this will be our second stay here .......
Beautiful property with plenty to do at the cabin, and only 3 miles from activities in Hayward. We were pleasantly surprised to have wifi, and a third twin size bed in the loft area. The cabin was perfect for our family (2 adults and 3 kids ages 12-16). Clean, well stocked, beautiful view of the lake.
The cabin was very clean and efficient for the use by 5 people. The lake was calm and quiet. Usually only one or two boats out at any given time. The water level at the dock was rather low, and the weeds go out quite a ways. It made fishing limited to (very)weedless options from the dock. We enjoyed the canoe and paddle boat and caught enough fish to fry for dinner.
Cabin was clean and good location only thing to know is if you have boats on trailer there is not much room to maneuver in driveway takes a little challenge but a great area
Beautiful property with a relaxing atmosphere. So much wildlife that can be enjoyed right from the back porch. We really loved our experience as a family - making sâmores by the campfire and fishing off the dock!
Cabin was exactly as described, and even more charming! All areas were very clean, kitchen was properly stocked, and everything was in working order. Plenty of deer, loons and eagles to watch. The rain gave us plenty of opportunities to play family games and watch movies, all provided by the host. Would highly recommend.
Bare bones accommodations but Adequate for our purposes which was what we were after.
No internet or cable which was fully disclosed in ad, so not a problem and not unexpected. I can certainly understand why the owner wouldnât want the expense of those amenities but not supplying bath towels seemed a weird cost saving measure and a little too austere to me.
We had a great mini-moon at the Lazy Loon! We brought our side by side and had a blast on the trails near by. We also spent a day golfing at Spider Lake Golf Resort and then at the black iron bar and grill - the steak bites are SO good.
The cabin was clean, comfy, and had everything we needed! Walmart and grocery stores were close by for any last minute items. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating, we would for sure stay here again!
I have traveled to Hayward for 40 years. My husband grew up there and wanted to stay on Smith Lake. We loved the location, loons and eagles. We did not have cell service and it was difficult to communicate with family arriving for funeral without internet. We also had to borrow towels from family to shower. I must have overlooked that detail when booking.
My husband and I have always dreamed of owning a cabin in northern Wisconsin. We started the journey to our dream in 2012. After viewing several properties over several months, we picked the property on Smith Lake and fell in love! We located a log home builder close to our home and began the building process. We love our cabin on Smith Lake. We have fallen in love with the Loons on the property thus the name Lazy Loon Cabin.
Smith Lake offered everything we wanted in a lake. It's quiet but large enough to boat and participate in all kinds of water sports. It has a family feel and great neighbors.
