We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was perfect for four adults and dogs. The easy access to the beach and Highlands park was our favorite part. Cute town and good restaurants. Very easy check-in and good communication. Good vibes all around!
A lovely cottage with everything we needed. This is the last house on a lane through a neighborhood, so there's just a short stroll down a path before you get to the beach. A very nice, comfortable place to stay.
A quaint cottage in an excellent location! Host communicated quickly and effectively, too. A short path leads you to a gorgeous rocky beach with amazing vista of the highland cliffs/Cabot Trail. Very private setting but close to everything. Make sure you check out Last Chance Sandwich and Freya and Thor's just down the road from the cottage.
Overall this property was good. Lovely location close to town and trails along the Cabot Trail.
Beds were very uncomfortable, could use new bigger beds.
Kitchen well stocked with all utensils etc.
A friend and I stayed a few days for a hiking get away. Great location close to the beach which was great to walk in the evening. Very close to the National Park where we were able to do some hiking and we also took advantage of the local golf course which we would highly recommend. If you plan to visit in summer and weather is warm, upstairs bedrooms could be uncomfortable for you. If you plan to use the grill, plan to fill the propane tank as none was provided. We ended up cooking over the fire instead which was great with the sunset views đ
Moving to this house is like going home. Everything you need in your day to day life is there: kitchen pots and pans, ustensiles, soaps and detergents, appropriate washer/dryer, towels, dish rags, blankets. Windows open and lock, heating is efficient if needed. Tesla charger is cherry on Sunday
Only one small improvement suggested: lubricants for the locks on the front and back doors.

This was one of the finest places we have stayed! It was perfect for us: no frills or fanciness, but some really fine, classy details, like wonderful dishes and silverware, amazing windows with a fantastic view that were easy to open and close (and provided great ventilation), comfy furniture, everything you could ever need in a place, and a fine washer and dryer. Also, five minutes to a rock and sand beach past a wetland and some small fields and down a wooded path that for a birder like me, was pure, unadulterated heaven. We fell in love the moment we opened the door, and it never wavered the entire five days we were there, awaiting Hurricane Lee and stealing hikes in the Cape Breton National Park when we could, and eating AuCoin baked goods when we could not. And the visit from the caretakers, Roger and Priscille, just added to our admiration for this place as they were wonderful people who were instantly friendly and kind. He fixed a door that was stuck and she regaled us with talesâŠwe loved it! The only downside to this terrific gem of a small place: it is not for tall people upstairs! The ceiling where the bedrooms and the bathroom are, are sloped and one has to adapt pretty fast or risk bopping your head all the time. I am 5 feet tall and I had to adapt! But the bathroom is decent sized and the shower works fine and the beds are small but comfy, so we are not complaining. We would go back in a heartbeat. It is a place of character and the love involved with its pores.
We completely enjoyed our stay in this lovely home during the first week of October. The home is quirky, authentic to the area, simple, and lovely. The best feature, other than a comfortable, friendly great room downstairs, is the location. The view off the back deck is amazing. And the home is just a short, easy stroll to a lovely stone-covered beach you get all to yourselves. The colorful beach stones were our main reason to visit, as I am a collector. So this could not have been a more perfect location for us. The house itself sits on a sheltered knoll overlooking a saltwater pond with water fowl. It is seperated enough from neighbors to offer privacy, but with other homes closeby so it does not feel isolated.
When we wanted to venture farther, we were very close to the national park entrance in one direction and convenient to restaurants and the grocery store in Cheticamp in the other direction. We very much enjoyed our visit.
Great location to National park, about 2km. Excellent bakery in walking distance, and 5 mins.to Cheticamp. Lots of great adventure places close by, just talk to any local, they are always very welcoming!! Will be back!
What a special property! We loved it so much. The beach was a short walk away, but even just the view from the deck was perfect.
The house had everything we needed and more.
Cottage is simple but all you could need - and a interesting collection of books! However the outside space makes this place special - fab location for enjoying sunsets and evenings by the firepit.
The view of the ocean, sunsets from lawn were just as portrayed, walk to beach, all to ourselves, each morning was precious. Collection of literature, especially Russian, on premises was extraordinary.
This property is so charming! Private yard, beautiful view and gorgeous beach filled with a million different smoothed rocks from the ocean. Cottage comes equipped with everything you could possibly need and the caretakers even stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I would come back here every year....unfortunately it's a bit of a drive from Montreal!
Not luxurious but fully equiped and cozy. The set-up is magical and heaven for my dogs. Sunset from the patio and quiet ocean nearby for ourself most of the time.
What a relaxing get away at a lovely old style home next to the ocean. The house was clean, and felt like home , complete with games and lots of books and CDs for rainy days, a fire pit where we enjoyed a gorgeous sunset every evening and just minutes from the most awe inspiring drive up into the Cape Breton Highlands. We loved our time in Petite Etang and will return! Thank you!
Enjoyed our stay. Great location to explore Cheticamp, National Park and Cabot Trail.
The house met our expections for an older property. Very private with ocean view and large lot. Plenty of room and all the essentials. Would be even better if a view of the water was possible while sitting inside (as in lower windows). Stonger lighting in kitchen would be a plus. Overall would stay again.
The cottage was very cozy and private. Communications leading up to and during our stay were excellent. There are many wonderful things to see and do nearby and in the region. We felt that advertising the property as sleeping 7 people/6 adults was misleading. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have beds that seem narrower than a standard double, but I could be mistaken. My teenage daughter and her friend had to take turns sleeping the floor as they found the bed too crowded. I would say that the home comfortably sleeps 5 people. We really appreciated that the hosts are open to including pets. It was a welcoming and safe place for our furry friend. Thanks to our host and property caretakers for a really lovely stay!
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage! It was so close to the national park and had great views. Our dogs loved the backyard. The only complaint and I wouldn't even call it a complaint, but the upstairs (where the bathroom is located) is not tall people friendly. Watching my husband bend down and hitting my head off the ceiling above the stairs provided many laughs. Overall, it is amazing and we would totally stay here again!!
We had a great stay, the property manager was very available by message and helped out considerably. The cabin is beautiful and well maintained. The sunsets are gorgeous! Only a few minutes from the park and trails.
Charming home with a quick walk to the beach. Great place for kids and dogs. We had car trouble and each person who helped us was very kind and helpful. A very positive stay!
We invite you stay in our favorite place in the world. We have three young kids and have built so many memories over the years visiting this special cottage. Cheticamp has become our second home: we love to spend our summers running around the grassy yard, basking in the sun, playing by the beach, spending evenings by the fire pit, and exploring the Cape Breton Highlands each day.
Having vacationed ourselves in this house years ago, we fell in love with the place and purchased the property ourselves a few years ago. We welcome you to experience our special Cottage on Sunset Lane -- we know you will love this slice of Cape Breton as much as we do.
This property is unique in the area: it's secluded from neighbors yet within a few minutes' drive from everything Cheticamp has to offer. You can walk to the beach. The ocean is right out the front windows. And it's a classic Acadian cottage.
