House was exactly as advertised & accommodated our group of 5 moms & 5 teen girls for a local sport event. It had all the amenities we needed (toilet paper, paper towels, bedding, towels, etc.). It is in a quiet area within a few minutes of the highway & 7-10 minutes of everything you could need (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.). Would definitely stay there again!

House was nice only part that I didn’t care for is there was no tv’s in the room. It could have said that in the listing honestly I didn’t read it. Everything else was good. There’s a bar walking distance so that was a bonus.

Our host was very communicative and helpful, especially, as one of the guests left behind a personal item that they were able to locate and return to us. The home had plenty of room for our 8 guests and the interior was in good shape. The only minor issues we found (to us) were that one bedroom had a barn door, and a couple of lights were burned out. Overall, we were very satisfied with the home and would recommend it to others.

Family Weekend

Great house for my siblings and I to stay while visiting our parents. Plenty of room, comfortable beds and comfortable furniture. It was nice for each of us to have our own bedroom with bathroom. Good communication with owner as well. Very reasonable price was nice.

My family came to Florida for my nephews graduation in Orlando. It was a great house. We loved the Black Hammock and the airboat ride. My whole family loved the Gator Mansion.

Great gathering place for families.

So perfect for five sisters and some of the family to gather and reconnect. Our niece and family came all the way from Scotland! She was raised in Orlando, but was her tc congratulate her Mom for 50 years at Disney World. Such an honor! Will re-book again and again. Thank you!

Great House to Accommodate Large Family

We rented this house and the adjacent cottage for a recent family event in the area. We had a total of 13 people ranging in age from one to ninety. Everyone was very comfortably accommodated. The houses are comfortably and thoughtfully furnished. Communication with the host was easy. I highly recommend this rental for anyone with a large group to accommodate.

I understand the house was generally clean but there were a few more specific deep clean items that were not up to our standards. I know my cleaning team did come over immediately to address some of your concerns and the more extensive ones, like removing the light fixtures outside to clean them, was done after you checked out. I thank you again for bringing these items to my attention to address. Family Wedding Trip

This was a perfect fit for our large extended family. By renting this home and the 2-bedroom guest cottage next door there was plenty of beds and bathrooms for all. Location was perfect for the Wedding we were attending in Sanford and the other activities in Oviedo. Plus, it was only about a half hour drive to the Orlando Airport and Sea World. House was very clean and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant and also went on the Airboat ride which are adjacent. Would fully recommend.

Gator Mansion - The Perfect Stay for a Large Group

Our 12-person crew had an absolutely fantastic stay at Gator Mansion! This six-bedroom, five-bath beauty had more than enough space to comfortably support all of us—no one ever felt cramped or short on room. The layout was ideal, and the A/C was a total lifesaver—cool and crisp on both floors, even in that signature hot and humid Central Florida weather.The kitchen was a dream for our group meals—fully stocked with everything we needed to whip up breakfast and dinner with ease. Every bathroom was clean, well-kept, and super convenient for such a large group. No waiting in line, no awkward scheduling—just smooth sailing.We also brought a couple of furry friends along, and the property was spacious enough to give them some great little walks and outdoor time, which we really appreciated.Highly recommend Gator Mansion if you’re rolling deep and want comfort, space, and cool vibes all under one roof. We’d definitely stay here again!

Weekend stay

The property was a little way off a main road so it was quiet but a bit secluded. The lower level was an open living, dining, kitchen with 2 bedrooms and bath. Upper level had 4 bedrooms 2 with their own bathroom and 2 with a shared bath. If toy have a large group that needs to get ready for an event at the same time it works well. The beds were ok and the pillows were just awful, bring your own if you can. There was one very large TV with local channels in the living area. Parking was limited to 4 vehicles. The property was fine for a short stay.

Lovely Home with Ample Space for Family

We recently stayed at this property and had a pleasant experience overall. The house is spacious and comfortably accommodated our family members. The layout is great for spending quality time together, and the amenities provided were sufficient for our needs. There were a few minor issues we encountered during our stay. Upon arrival, we noticed that the couch was broken and a wall plate in one of the upstairs bedrooms was damaged. We promptly notified the property manager about these issues, and they were responsive to our concerns. Additionally, there was some dirt under the furniture, which we believe is something the property manager can address with the cleaning team. On the morning of our checkout, there was an unfortunate mix-up with the checkout date, and the alarm was accidentally set, waking us up at 7 am. While this was inconvenient, we understand that mistakes happen and appreciated the property manager’s attentiveness. Despite these hiccups, the property served as a wonderful home base for our family getaway, and we would recommend it to others.

Joel Martin was born in Paris, France. His family moved to Africa when he was young, and there he grew up surrounded by the magnificent wildlife. He spent a lot of his youth out in the jungles hunting snakes, alligators and other creatures. His survival skills were honed by his many African and Malgache friends.



He returned to France to do his tour of duty. He chose to be in the Navy which had their base at Toulon, in the beautiful south of France. After his tour of duty was over, he settled in Corsica, where he opened a restaurant and nightclub. He also had a small ranch where he could ride his horses.

After 12 years spent in Corsica, he decided to open a franchise of mini supermarkets in several ski resorts in the French Alps.

The lure of the French Riviera drew Joel and family. There he went to open a real estate company. But all plans changed in 1996, when he won a green card and was allowed to emigrate to America. Without hesitation, he packed up the family and moved to the States. Joel chose Florida as he enjoys the heat and humidity, so reminiscent of his youth.

His choice of lifestyle led him to the Oviedo area where he could live in the country and keep his horse. On a morning walk one day he discovered that not 5 minutes away is the Black Hammock Restaurant, on lovely Lake Jesup, with it’s mangroves and alligators. Now he knows he is in paradise! He is at home just as he was in Africa.
Joel obtained his American Citizenship, fully living out his AMERICAN DREAM!

To further improve Black Hammock Adventures' air boat business Joel obtained his Master Airboat License. He, as well as all of Black Hammock's airboat pilots, have their Master Airboat Captain License.
