Our family stayed here for the first time, with our dog, and we may have found our new favorite vacay spot! Very quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and so much aquatic life and birds to watch. Loved searching for things at low tide, walking out to the sandbars, and counting horseshoe crabs. The people and the dogs were very nice! We loved the house too- plenty of space for all of us, clean, convenient, accommodating, and very cozy. Iâm really hoping to get back here next year, if not sooner! And one last thing- the sunrises are worth waking up to see- simply beautiful!
We spent a fall weekend get away at this lovely beachfront cottage with beautiful views of the water from inside the house as well as on the wooden deck..quiet, serene, and it came chock full of all the comforts of home..we loved our stay and look forward to hopefully returning sometime in the future.
Accommodations were as advertised, plenty of places to spread out. Loved the view of the bay from the one bedroom, and the deck overlooking the bay was awesome! Being able to walk out on the bed anytime of the day was spectacular. Charlie love chasing the ghost crabs and we saved many a horseshoe crabs.
We were in the area for lacrosse. We wanted to build-in vacation time while in the area. Pictures and description is accurate. It was clean, quiet & relaxing. Having the washer & dryer in the unit was appreciated. Location is great. Easily accessible to local sports facility, local restaurants, shops/stores and other area activities & beaches. The proximity to the beach, literally a few steps, made this such an amazing spot. If we ever find ourselves back in the area, we hope to stay here again!
The pictures for the online listing don't do this house justice! The furniture is up-to-date and the house is tastefully decorated - it's bright and inviting! The kitchen was very well appointed and had everything that we needed and more. The local caretakers were easily accessible and very helpful with local recommendations! We will be back next year!!
Loved the quiet beauty of Slaughter Beach. The home was perfect for us with just steps to the beach and also the National Wildlife Refuge was right across the street. It was nice to be in a pet friendly neighborhood (both the beach and the homes nearby) without the crowds of the nearby high school "Beach Week" towns. The property manager and cleaning staff were extremely responsive to our questions.
We especially loved sunrises and sunsets with all the crabs on the beach, and walking to the Marvel Wildlife viewing station to check out the Osprey nests / families.
Would definitely stay here again
When we first got there, there were a lot of biting flies. The kitchen was full of fruit flies, which we never could get rid of. But overall we enjoyed our stay, would probably want to stay somewhere a little closer to the main attractions as nobody delivers to Slaughter Beach.
Spacious property full of everything you may need to enjoy time near the water. Very accessible for anyone with mobility issues. Multiple spaces to spread out and relax. Amazing sunrises. Lovely sunsets from the desk overlooking the beach. Bay coastline lovely for viewing; possibly for wading. However, didn't see anyone in the water as there is a significant amount of vegetation and sealife. And it is very shallow. We would love to return to this property in the future.
The place was more than we expected. It's right off the bay so it's extremely convenient for us to walk down to the water and carry our SUP boards to the private backyard without having to worry about it every day. The space is quite well organized, a living room with plenty of couches to watch TV/read books/watch sunrise, a nice dining room, kitchen, laundry room, entry foyer, and two bedrooms with their own full bathrooms plus a half bath. Love the private cute sitting area in the main bedroom, you can sit there and watch sunrises through the window, very relaxing. There is an outdoor sitting porch to grill and dining, we didn't use it but others did quite often.
The horsefly is kind of annoying but some deet spray kept them away. Overall, loved the place!
We rented the bottom unit of this house. It was very clean and nicely decorated (beach theme). You couldn't ask for a better location. Walk right outside the back door onto the beach. Yes the water was a little murky but at low tide you can walk real far out and see crabs, whelk and other ocean life. Most days when there was a breeze the black flies didn't bother us. I would suggest bringing big spray for the days you do need it. I would definitely recommend this place - very quiet and secluded. And the best part- you can bring your dog. Our dog was extremely happy to play in the ocean and take walks on the beach. All the locals were super nice too.
Great to have a handicapped accessible and pet friendly place!
Ramp and handicapped master bedroom and bathroom were a godsend! Walking right out on to the beach was fabulous for my dog! Comfortable sofas/chairs. Nice to have 2 queen beds and separate bathrooms. Kitchen had almost everything we we needed in the way of utensils, pots, bowls. Unfortunately Hurricane Florence removed the lower part of the steps to the beach so getting up/down was a challenge. However, the contractor arrived while we were there to fix it :-) would definitely come back but will make sure we bring an extra large can of bug spray
The master bedroom was set up for handicap people. The bed needs to be replaced. It was a hospital bed with side rails. The toilet had no privacy and was in the room with the bed. There were overhead hanging bars used for handicapped. We kept running into it when trying to use the sink or toilet. I would remove all handicap devices and build a privacy wall for toilet.
This is an absolutely gorgeous location. Place was amazing and fully stocked. We were able to cook and there are three TVs, which was nice for our kids. Just want others to be aware that itâs on a marsh so there are tons of nasty biting flies that do stay away with a heavy duty bug spray that you must cover yourself in repeatedly (reapplying hourly). There are lots of mosquitoes too but the flies were worse. Also lots and lots of jellyfish at least when we were there. Our four and six year olds were both stung twice over the span of three daysâthe six year old had it so bad he vomited twice. It really is gorgeous though and so nice to just look out over the water and totally decompress (as long as youâre covered in bug spray đ ). Again the place was very comfy. Bedroom two has a hospital type bed that goes up and down and has side rails. In this room, the entire bathroom is right in the bedroom also (no privacy for going to the toilet or showering). This didnât cause any issues but we put the kids in that room cuz it was a little strange. Ha I think for the cost and number of beds and bathrooms, itâs still a good deal. Just want others to know what youâre walking into. Thank you!
Place is beautiful. Old school east coast style. No bugs and the weather was perfect. Need to bring everything which I always do whenever I get outta town
I came with my son for a lacrosse tournament and decided to go this way instead of a hotel. So much better than a hotel! Cute, quiet little beach town. Very friendly! Clean houseâŠwell stocked except for towels which I think is silly, but whatever. Will other future tournament, we will use again!
I stay at this place almost every year. You can walk out and see horseshoe crabs at certain times of year and so many other cool animals! The home is well maintained and nice.
This house is on a nice, secluded beach with only a few people around. Horseshoe crabs would come up to the beach, which was a real treat. We have rented this home twice now and will definitely come back.
