My sister and I were in Oak Park to take care of some family matters and we stayed at this rental for a week. It was a great decision. The apartment was comfortable and warm (we were there during a cold spell) and it was easy to make our meals. It was also a great location and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. Finally, the host was very responsive and quickly answered any questions we had.
Beautiful, leafy, and safe Oak Park neighborhood. Great location. Owner thought of everything. Nice selection of books, games, and coffee. Slept well after touring the Chicago area all day.
We loved staying here. It was spacious, well laid out. The furnishings were high quality and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you need. The location is great, easy to reach and walking distance to Oak Park.
Dan's private apartment was the space, convenience and comfort I needed to handle a family emergency, back in April. Dan and his family were incredibly gracious and accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay again!

Traveled to Oak Park, IL to attend nieceâs high school graduation. The apartment was spacious, clean and included numerous amenities that made the stay very comfortable. The experience was as advertised and I would highly recommend.
We loved our stay! Extremely clean, open spaces. Big kitchen. Great location. Beds were very comfortable. Big walk in closet. We were busy so didn't spend much time here, except to sleep, but there were loads of games and books.
The property was wonderful and exactly as described. The kitchen was well stocked and i always appreciate owners who provide coffee filters, salt, pepper, sugar, among other kitchen staples. It makes traveling so much better to have dish detergent as well! I was especially impressed with the special makeup remover washcloths (I travel with makeup remover and cotton balls) but also seeing nice washcloths demonstrates the owner's attention to detail. Beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of space. Five stars. Highly recommend!
This apartment was perfect for our family of 4 adults and the walk to the Green Line of the CTA that will take you into Chicago was pleasant. Oak Park has a nice downtown with numerous restaurants, supermarkets and a movie theatre.
The photos show the apartment accurately and was well stocked with all that we needed. Our family agreed that it was a terrific place from which to explore Chicago and its suburbs.
Dan was very easy to communicate with which added to the overall impression of this beautifully decorated apartment.
Returning to the Chicagoland area after a 38-year hiatus, I along with 2 of my boys were delighted by our stay at this basement apartment in Oak Park. This experience was my first time using VRBO, and it couldn't have been more positive.
As someone who grew up in nearby Forest Park, returning to the area and experiencing it from a visitor's perspective was a unique and nostalgic experience.
The highlight of the apartment is the vast living room and dining room area, which is perfect for gatherings or simply unwinding after a day of exploring. The dining table seats eight, making it ideal for enjoying meals together. The living room features a flat-screen TV with a basic cable package, offering a cozy spot to relax and watch your favorite shows.
Overall, my stay at this VRBO was exceptional, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Oak Park and Chicago. The combination of thoughtful design, modern amenities, and a prime location made for an unforgettable experience.
Great neighborhood. Nice to have a private parking space. Good hot water/pressure. Spacious and well maintained. Realky nice oak and tiles in apt. Kitchen and living area pleasant. As a light sleeper it was bit difficult with hardwood flooring above us as I was awakened numerous times, just from people walking, not noise. 13 stairs down inside was manageable. Sensor for lighting for entrance was nice. There is a decorative table in master bedroom that's glass tiled, so be careful not to place objects on it. Garbage/recycling right outside entrance. Quiet street but near Augusta so convenient for traveling. Appreciate our stay! M & J
This clean and well-located basement apartment was perfect for our 5-day stay to the area to help an elder move. Kitchen has all you need for simple meals. The FLW decor was a nice touch. Youâll hear light foot traffic and a soft-spoken dog occasionally upstairs, but not at all bothersome.
Nice neighborhood with east access to public transportation
Great location close to public transportation! The basement apartment had everything we needed. There were board games and toys my son enjoyed as well.
VERY clean, location was perfect for our family as we wanted to experience using public transportation to get to downtown. 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop and about 20 minute walk through very nice area to the train (we did both and you can take the bus to the train station too). Neighborhood is lovely. Owner is on site and available via text if there is an issue but there never was. Unit is completely separate from rest of house. We were very pleased.
We had everything we needed for the 5 nights we stayed. The property itself was great, very roomy, clean and comfortable. It was great to have the option of public transportation or use our own car to explore Chicago.
We loved staying here while helping our kid move into the dorms nearby! The neighborhood is great and itâs close to everything you could want. The apartment is in the basement of the house, but there are high windows letting some daylight in, itâs very spacious, and the owners are right upstairs & very helpful with whatever you need. There is one bathroom but it is conveniently located for all to use, with enough space and towel racks. We really liked all the shelves, dressers, closet space, kitchen cabinet space, etc to put our things in! We look forward to staying here again, thanks Dan and Amy!
The property location was perfect in a beautiful and safe suburb about 9 miles from downtown Chicago. The neighborhood included Frank Lloyd Wright's former home architecture studio and about 25 of the houses he designed. There was all kinds of shopping and restaurants within a mile of the property, but it was on a quiet residential street. The inside was spacious, modern, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in Frank Lloyd Wright decor and style. We had everything we needed, except a few more wash cloths, but there was a washer and dryer so we could wash anything we needed. If we ever go back to the Chicago area we'll certainly stay there again.
Having never been in the Chicago area before we were unsure where to stay. This ended up being perfect for us. The neighborhood is safe and has so many great features Frank Lloyd Wright homes, plenty of great dining options, and just about a 20 minute drive to the city. The rental was clean and easily accessible. The hosts have done a great job decorating with lots of Wright style pieces. We loved our stay and if we ever return to the Chicago area we would check this rental first.
This is a great space, convenient to several transportation options and in a beautiful area for safe walking. A bonus is proximity to many Frank Lloyd Wright homes including his own home and studio. Host was helpful and easy to communicate with.
We are an Oak Park family. We are in a situation in which we have this amazing apartment attached, yet entirely separate, from our home and have decided to rent it out. We love Oak Park, Chicago and the architecture that you will see in these areas. The apartment is designed to be a staging ground for those that are experiencing this great area.
The owners of this apartment are life long Oak Parkers. We love this town and the greater Chicago area. We look forward to our guests enjoying and experiencing the place we call home.
This apartment is an alternative to local hotels and will allow guests to live as a family in a home-like setting, rather than cramped hotel rooms. The owners of this apartment will provide you everything that you need, while giving you all the privacy that you desire.
