Weâve enjoyed a relaxing week in this well appointed beautiful property.
Communication prior to travel was very good. (Hosts kindly recommended a vet in Noirmoutier to use for our dogs Animal Health Certification return travel requirements).
On arrival at Maison 13, Isabelle greeted us and showed us around the property and amenities.
The property is open plan living /kitchen with one side of glass windows looking out over the pine trees towards the National Park and trails which can be accessed from the garden gate.
20 minute walk to a deserted sandy beach through the National Park.
We all wanted to lounge in the Le Cobusier chaise next to the open fire and it was a great meditation spot.
Well appointed kitchen that has all the gadgets - coffee machine etc
The 3 bedrooms lead off from the living area and are all good sized.
Large walk in shower in the main bathroom.
A lovely relaxing week enjoyed here
Modernes Haus mit ansprechender Gestaltung auf einem HĂŒgel in Notre Dame de Monts. Direkt an wunderschönem Kiefernwald gelegen.
We had a lovely stay at Maison 13. Isabelle gave us a warm welcome and was always on hand when needed. The proximity with the pine forest was very pleasant and useful for cycling around. Regarding the accommodation, the house was comfortable, very clean and had everything required. Overall, a lovely place where we would be keen to go back !
Superb space which was plenty big enough for all six of us. All appliances furniture etc is of high quality.
Beautifully quiet area, with path straight to the forest and beaches a 20 min walk away.
Super U 5 min drive away, bread & Croissants available a 5 min walk away from campsite if needed.
Superb beaches as normal in Vendee watersport available a 5 min drive or 20 min cycle.
We would all definitely return.
We have just returned home from a lovely family holiday in Maison 13. The house is very well designed, very comfortable and well equipped with a spacious terrace for sitting outside. Our children really enjoyed the cycle track which can be accessed from the bottom of the garden. The beaches nearby are all great and it is a bonus to be within such easy cycling distance of the village and beaches. Also thanks to Isabelle who was very helpful and accommodating at the beginning of our holiday.
Stylish and comfortable house. We loved looking out onto the forest through the wide expanse of glass or from the terrace and being able to join the forest tracks from our garden gate.
Great local beaches. Good facilities locally and lots to see and do close by.
The bungalow is on top of a little hill, it is deceptive from the front and it is only when you go around the back and see the vista into the pine trees you can appreciate the tranquil position.
The bungalow is a bit beyond walking distance to the next village (about 5km), bikes are ideal as the path passes the bottom of the garden, so you can go north or south from here.
Parking in the town is simple enough and we didn't have any problems finding somewhere that was an easy walk to shops and the town.
The beaches are long with sand dunes, closest is probably 20 minutes walk. Beaches were uncrowded in the middle of August, but beware of the nuddies popping up in sand dunes - the kids burst out laughing at them which didn't help.
We spent two wonderful weeks in this accommodation and I would highly recommend it. Quality fixtures and fittings, large bedrooms with a lovely open plan living area. Sitting on the decking overlooking the forest was a real treat. 10 minute cycle to the town or a couple of minutes in the car - ideal!
This is a great place in an absolutely gorgious countryside. We loved the silence and the smell of the wood!! The sandbox infront of the house was a highlight for our granddaughter.
The best thing for us were the cycling possibilities through the wood. We also enjoyed the beaches and the French food!!!
The house is nicely arranged. Some things could be a bit improved, so that the daily routine could be even more convenient.
We would like to come back.
We flew Flybe from Southampton to Nantes in about an hour and then had an easy drive to Notre Dame de Monts. First impressions of Maison13 were of its lovely location on a slightly elevated site. A single storey home set amongst beautiful, peaceful woodlands, backing onto the National Park. The accommodation was of a very good standard and had everything we needed in the way of facilities and comfort. We used bikes to ride the lovely woodland tracks to the beach but it would also be easy walking. The beach is sandy, wide, long and very clean. We found a good choice of shops and restaurants/cafes within an easy drive or cycle. Idyllic comes to mind!

We currently live in the UK and spend most of our holidays in France. We lived in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and before that, Paul lived in Singapore and Sydney, Australia. Liz is a teacher and writer and Paul works in Programme Advisory for the construction industry. We have two children. Liz speaks French.
We first came on holiday to the Vendee eight years ago and we just kept coming back. We love being able to cycle off-road through the forest to the beach, the way the sunlight catches the pine trees against the sky and the long, sandy stretches of coastline; it's our idea of heaven. We discovered the house shortly after its completion while we were out cycling one day and fell in love with its simple, modern design and tranquil forest setting. Three years later, through friends, we heard the house was on the market and the rest is history...
We love the contemporary design of the property and the open-plan layout. The house is accessed along an open-air hallway running along the side which leads onto a decked seating area overlooking the forest. A series of plate glass windows runs the length of the back of the house bringing the outside in, whatever the time of year. There is a wood-burning stove for the cooler months, an air-circulation system distributes heat throughout the house, or keeps the air cool in the summer. The gate at the bottom of the garden gives access to the forest cycle track and meandering walks to the beach.
