Place is beautifully decorated and quaint. Nice small rectangular pool behind next door neighbors that is shared between 3-4 other tenants. It was in a nice location that we could walk to some restaurants and shops.My only concern was that it was very compact. I guess most places in this area are the same being built in 1800s when people were much smaller.I wish we were advised to bring smaller vehicle as the alley is a bit tight for large suv . Also I advise you take 2 smaller bags vs 1large suitcase as the bedroom is upstairs.I would highly recommend going to Ft SumterVietnam Experience TSS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier Aquarium Afro American museum Harbor CruiseRestaurants Millers All Day for Breakfast Charleston Crab HouseHank’s Seafood

Cozy and beautiful

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. What a great getaway to Charleston! This house was perfect for the two of us. It was very quiet at night, and we loved the courtyard. We took a dip in the pool multiple times. The location of this property is close to lots of shopping and restaurants. The property had everything we could need, and it felt as if some thought was put into what went into the property (amenities and toiletries). We loved our stay here!

Very fun place to stay while in Charleston. Close to the action on King Street and yet a very quiet place to come back to after a busy day. A unique place to stay!

Weekend Getaway

We loved the pool house for our stay. We basically needed a place to sleep at the end of a long day and it was so charming and comfortable. We were one block off of King St and were able to walk everywhere. The backyard is gorgeous and a great place to enjoy your morning coffee.

We had a very nice time at Serene Cottage.

We really appreciate how easy it was to communicate with the management and how accurate the description was on VRBO. We spent 3 nights, including Thanksgiving, at this very nice place, and were able to walk to a number of places in Charleston. Thank you for your hospitality, and wine, and we would absolutely stay at the Serene Cottage on a return to Charleston.

Amazing location and property!

Could not have asked for a better place to stay with my girls. The coy pond was an amazing sight in the morning. The house glows with the amount of sunlight pouring in. Property was clean, and centrally located to downtown. Looking forward to our next trip back!

Wonderful Cottage

Spacious cottage for a family of 4. The pool was amazing. Loved the attention to detail on everything from the makeup removal wipes to the nice bottle of wine. The cottage was extremely clean and inviting. At night, we could hear the relaxing water fountain. Overall, a truly relaxing stay.

Perfectly located to explore the city of Charleston

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Even though it’s in the center of the city, it was completely private and cozy once inside the courtyard. The place itself was clean and beautiful. A lovely bottle of red wine was left to welcome us. When up in the loft bedroom, the treetops can be seen through the windows which added to the feeling of tranquility. We would highly recommend this place and look forward to staying here in the future.

Central to Charleston Downtown

Very nice- inside and out...upstairs bedroom- super comfortable bed- bed space/ bath. Downstairs is a little worn - sofa/ rug especially. Small kitchen needs some counter or just a regular toaster not a toaster oven. I agree that the blinds need to be more private. Water features and Koi pond are beautiful.

We spent 6 nights at this rental and loved it. The pool is an absolute dream to have after a day of trekking around in the heat - and is a rare amenity in rentals in this area. It is located through a gate, at the end of the most adorable, colorful alleyway, with old cobblestones and rainbow stucco homes. The parking is not as tight as anticipated based on other reviews, and we think you could pretty easily get a small SUV in there if you needed to. After you park and enter through the gate, there is a lovely koi pond in front of the entry to the rental, with the swimming pool beyond the rental along the far wall. The rental itself is a converted coach house or similar, with two stories and tons of windows. The laundry is a huge perk, as were the kitchen and strong A/C. The only things that I might improve would be the shower toiletries - it wouldn't be insanely hard to source something a little more local or special (I forgot shampoo, so obviously looked at this right away) - and maybe de-clutter the space behind the house in case anyone wants to open the blinds up on that side. However, these are obviously not game changers. In the past, we have rented on the far east end of the peninsula, near the battery, which was a quiet, residential area. This is definitely in the middle of college town, but it is clearly an area that is in the midst of major revitalization, with lots of activity going on. We definitely felt safe walking around day and night. Both areas have their perks, but I think we would definitely choose to return to this rental in the future based on it being so close to everything (5 minutes to King Street and many amazing restaurants in all directions) and the swimming pool/courtyard area. Also, quick tip, there is a great coffee shop and bakery about a 1-minute walk west of the rental (take a left out of the alleyway), on St. Philip Street, called Brown's Court Bakery. Enjoy! :)

CHS PERFECTION!

We have been visiting Charleston since 2017 & have stayed at the best hotels- this year we tried the pool house to mixed it up and are THRILLED WE DID! The pool house is a private dwelling down an enchanted alleyway. It is secluded and quiet as well as extremely clean and well decorated - also stocked with all you need. It is in an ideal location to walk to all CHS has to offer! The icing on the cake is the beautiful pool right out your front door. My husband and I spent the hot midday hours floating and lounging in the cool shade of the pristine water.We had the best time here and will certainly return! Working with the staff was a pleasure - many many thanks!
