Stayed here with three friends to explore Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Gorge area. This cabin proved to be in a great spot for our purposes and was comfortable, spacious, and reasonably priced. Would do it again in a heartbeat!
My husband, two daughters, and dog stayed here for three nights. It was a rainy weekend, but that gave us the excuse to enjoy the house more. We played games, watched movies, read books, and slept and ate well. The house is very comfortable, with lots of room to spread out, and very quiet. Highly recommend for anyone looking for some R & R!
Great stay but checking in (or even getting through front gate) through the app was a bit frustrating since host provided check in instructions through messaging, just FYI.Well laid out house with plenty of room, especially with loft and basement. TVs were a bit primitive (actually still had VHS player in the basement LOL) but Starlink high-speed internet access more than made up for those deficiencies for the small amount of time we were inside. Mountain views, at least in the summer, are completely blocked by line of tall trees in front of the deck; seemed like a common issue for a number of the houses in this gated community.Great location, central to all the hiking trails & falls we wanted to visit.
We loved everything! Cozy house with history, clean, equipped with everything what you would need. We really enjoyed our weekend there and we wish to come back again!
We had a whirlwind weekend. This was our first time to the area - loved it!! Will be back. The house was perfect, very clean fresh linens, lots of sleeping options! Would definitely stay again!
Very nice place convenient to several attractions.
Overall, we had a very nice stay. The place is clean, quiet, and convenient to attractions. The oven in the kitchen was not working properly, but otherwise everything else worked well.
Had a great time celebrating the kids birthday at this awesome property. Kids enjoyed hiking and all the awesome sites. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.
The cabin is very spacious and clean. It has everything you need including kitchen supplies, entertainment ( movies and games), bedding, and a wonderful porch. It is located in a very secure area close to Linville Falls and Caverns. Our host Greg responded very quickly to all of our questions. I would highly recommend for any family event or retreat.
This was a wonderful place to stay. The house was immaculately clean. The amenities were everything that I expected. Greg is a fabulous host. Everything that he mentions about this property is true. I have no complaints whatsoever. And Iâm glad that I had the opportunity to spend a week in this fabulous place.
We enjoyed making family memories in this cabin. It was very peaceful and clean. The online description is on point and Mr. Francis was very easy to communicate with. It is located close enough to caverns, hiking trails, and cute towns, yet nestled away in the privacy of the mountains. Bonus, we are able to bring our four legged family member along!
We came in to town to celebrate with our family who live locally. It was the perfect space for us to stay. Feels very welcoming as soon as you enter. Property was clean check in and out were easy. The host was so wonderful with our reservation and communication was a breeze. VRBO had the sleeping space listed as 8 but this property sleeps easily 10-12. We donât need the additional space just info for those that are reading reviews. Lovely place will definitely stay again.
The cabin is very nice, clean, comfortable and spacious. It is in the middle of the mountains surrounded by nature. Before you arrive make sure to print out all the information that the owner sends you. There is no cell phone or internet reception in the area. If you arrive at night it can be very difficult to find the cabin. It is on the left and the entrance is a little difficult to see. You will see 839 Francis carved into a wooden sign, but in the dark it is almost invisible. Also keep in mind that due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helen, there are several roads closed and you will have to use detours that will delay your route to the cabin. The cabin has everything you might need. Just bring your personal belongings, toiletries and food. Also laundry detergent if you want to wash clothes. We were very happy and pleased with our stay. They have movies for the kids, books, games. And the fireplace warms up the living room nicely. We had a very nice and pleasant time with our family. We will definitely return at some point in the future.
The cabin is nice as pictured. Centrally located to what we wanted. Extremely steep drive way, sharp turn in, branches starting to encroach, scratched car. Limited parking hard to maneuver more than 2 cars to park. View has been over grown. Nice slippery deck, No outdoor fire pit. Not much for younger kids to do outside or inside cabin. No shade from the sun in the loft, rise and shine with the sun. NOT CHILD KID FRIENDLY, bought a gate to block stairs from toddler. Storms affected our trip, no streaming, wifi password was not accepted after day 3 of 7, cable went out, all remotes had dead batteries. Refrigerator does not close easily, opens freezer when you push the door close. Drawer under oven gets EXTREMELY hot, very dangerous to kids.
Water in shower and sink was either cold or scalding hot. Gas stove fire goes out on anything less than med. Sliding door and screen hard to open
We enjoyed our stay & would like to return in the future. Although the leaves were just beginning to change color in the upper elevations, it was still very beautiful. We enjoyed the special touch of the sheep throughout the house, especially the framed tee shirt. Hearing the train pass several times daily reminded me of spending time with my grandparents. Our host was very helpful & his instructions were great.
We had a lovely time in this timeless, very tall (3 level) log cabin! The kitchen isn't huge, so expect to bump into each other as you get your breakfast but is well-appointed. They had everything we needed and more. The two stories of windows in the great room put the trees and mountains as the centerpiece of our stay. When we arrived, the CO alarms were going off and the place wasn't cooling well, but Greg was responsive and responsible and all was well in short order. (Turns out there was no CO. It was just time to replace the sensors.
