Great stay but checking in (or even getting through front gate) through the app was a bit frustrating since host provided check in instructions through messaging, just FYI.Well laid out house with plenty of room, especially with loft and basement. TVs were a bit primitive (actually still had VHS player in the basement LOL) but Starlink high-speed internet access more than made up for those deficiencies for the small amount of time we were inside. Mountain views, at least in the summer, are completely blocked by line of tall trees in front of the deck; seemed like a common issue for a number of the houses in this gated community.Great location, central to all the hiking trails & falls we wanted to visit.
My husband, two daughters, and dog stayed here for three nights. It was a rainy weekend, but that gave us the excuse to enjoy the house more. We played games, watched movies, read books, and slept and ate well. The house is very comfortable, with lots of room to spread out, and very quiet. Highly recommend for anyone looking for some R & R!
Stayed here with three friends to explore Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Gorge area. This cabin proved to be in a great spot for our purposes and was comfortable, spacious, and reasonably priced. Would do it again in a heartbeat!
We had a lovely time in this timeless, very tall (3 level) log cabin! The kitchen isn't huge, so expect to bump into each other as you get your breakfast but is well-appointed. They had everything we needed and more. The two stories of windows in the great room put the trees and mountains as the centerpiece of our stay. When we arrived, the CO alarms were going off and the place wasn't cooling well, but Greg was responsive and responsible and all was well in short order. (Turns out there was no CO. It was just time to replace the sensors.
Overall, we had a great stay, I truly wish we could have stayed around the rental longer. Basically, we stayed the night and then met with my brothers in law and their families atop Wisemanâs View Overlook!! It was a farewell send off of my father in law who passed away last August. His wish was for the families to get together one last time and in his memory remember the memories we made all over those mountains we had the privilege to cast our eyes on one more time. Doc Fair passed last August and he was a fixture in the Drexel Community! He passed at the age of 90 years while in our familyâs care in Tidewater Virginia. So we spent most of Saturday on Wisemanâs View and then we had dinner as a family, making family music, as Doc called it, prior to returning to the cabin. Real quick stay but a real pleasure to interact with the Francis family, corresponding mostly with Greg, through VRBO. Greg was always prompt with the answer to all my questions and the house was magnificent as we had 10 folks and plenty of room. Great location for us because our travel was back and forth to Wisemanâs View and Newland, NC. The Francis family were most excellent and enthusiastic hosts!! I would love to come back to the cabin when I have more time to spend and run through the falls!! I am grateful for their kindness and the opportunity to stay in there wonderful cabin back in the mountains on NC where my family is from!! I recommend this cabin to anyone needing a large spacious cabin.
First the property was as represented -- this has not always been my experience. It is not exactly close to anything, but then not that far from lots of stuff. We fished in Tenn, one hour; Grandfather Mt, 30 min; Blowing Rock about an hours; drive on Parkway, 10 min.; Little Switzerland, 30 minutes; ate at Louise's Rockhouse, 15 minutes. With gate fell secure leaving stuff at the house when away. Definitely consider renting again.
thanks, you so much for a wonderful stay. the cabin was beautiful, clean and we loved it. the only issue I would say is trying to get out of the driveway. in a large truck, there was not a lot of room to maneuver and if we had had a second vehicle, I don't know how that would have worked due to the fact I am not use to such tight steep driveways. Overall, the cabin was amazing. thanks, you so much for a wonderful stay
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin in the woods. We were pleased with the fully equipped kitchen. We were happy that the drive up to the cabin was paved. The cabin was roomy, nicely furnished and had a great deck overlooking the mountains. A short walk from the cabin was a cool waterfall and close by were many wonderful hikes and a great winery within a short distance
This log cabin was the best for our age span and the needs for our weekend together. With 3 full baths and the many beds available to sleep our 5 adults and 4 older teens comfortably, we had the best time! As the listing said it is rustic but very comfortable. I would highly recommend! Owner extremely nice! best time The kitchen was a bit small
The cabin is very nice, clean, comfortable and spacious. It is in the middle of the mountains surrounded by nature. Before you arrive make sure to print out all the information that the owner sends you. There is no cell phone or internet reception in the area. If you arrive at night it can be very difficult to find the cabin. It is on the left and the entrance is a little difficult to see. You will see 839 Francis carved into a wooden sign, but in the dark it is almost invisible. Also keep in mind that due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helen, there are several roads closed and you will have to use detours that will delay your route to the cabin. The cabin has everything you might need. Just bring your personal belongings, toiletries and food. Also laundry detergent if you want to wash clothes. We were very happy and pleased with our stay. They have movies for the kids, books, games. And the fireplace warms up the living room nicely. We had a very nice and pleasant time with our family. We will definitely return at some point in the future.
Everything we needed was already there. It was the perfect solution for getting our family away from everyday life and shut out the world. It was peaceful, relaxing, and the perfect place to connect and appreciate nature.
It was a very great experience in this cabin, I loved that has room for up to 14 people. Well that depends on the privacy needed. But it works for us so we'll. The only issue was the Internet signal was partially poor at some times. And rarely got cellphone signal. But other than that we enjoy your stay at this cabin that has a beautiful view from the deck and amazing nature soroundings.
This is our go to cabin for our trips to the mountains. Greg is a pleasure to work with, very accommodating.
This last trip was an adventure riding out hurricane Helene. We will be back as long as she stands:)
We had a relaxing stay at the Black Sheep Corral for Labor Day weekend. The property was very helpful from the moment we booked the property. Great communication and super nice. The log cabin was everything we imagined and more. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks again
