My husband and I stayed to attend a wedding. The home was beautiful, spacious and we loved being able to walk down to the water. Would definitely want to stay there again.
Nice riverside cabin!!! Communication was excellent and property was clean and relaxing. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family!!!
Very nice house with a deck overlooking the S. Toe River and steps leading down to the river. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything needed (and this applies to the rest of the house as well.) Everything was perfectly clean and organized. Tucked away on a less traveled road so it was quiet and peaceful. We filled up the hummingbird feeder and got some visitors to join us on the deck! Highly recommended.
Great house on the river! The house was well stocked with cooking and serving essentials. There were plenty of linens. It was xhilly one day and we turned on rhe fireplace and had blankets to keep cozy. Comfortable beds, plenty of room foe everyone. Already booked again for next year. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home!
Wonderful place to stay!! Pictures don't do it justice! Definitely will be back! Love the river behind the place, the best thing about the place. Very clean and has pretty much everything you need except food and clothes. Thank you for letting us stay in your place!
My family and I had a wonderful vacation at the âUnwindâ cabin. The cabin was clean and well maintained and we had everything we needed for our weeklong stay. Also they have a beautiful collection of knickknacks and mountain âstuffâ throughout the house. Although the central air unit was broken, the temporary window units kept up really well. I have no complaints at all. We even had to turn them down a bit at times. The backyard creek was far beyond our expectations. It is beautiful, the perfect depth to play in for the kids (and the parents !), and full of beautiful shiny mica-crusted rocks. There were also good quality tubes in the garage among other things. We were in the creek every day. The yard has a small flower garden with red and orange lilies. Also plenty of rhododendrons and beautiful Queen Anneâs Lace flowers in the area. The downstairs closet was packed with games to play on their gorgeous card table. There are plenty of fun things to do here! The hosts were exceptional communicators. They were friendly and quick at answering any questions we had. Donât hesitate to book this cabin. It is one of the nicest places to stay in Appalachia and has been one of our most enjoyable vacations.Thank you, Robin!
We had a wonderful time. As soon as we arrived the kids ran down to the water and started fishing. The kitchen was clean and well stocked, the bedrooms were all separate and the tv areas were comfortable and clean. We took advantage of the game closet and went tubing on the Toe River. Saturday we went to the farmers market and walked around the cute shops downtown. All in all a relaxing and fun stay. We would definitely recommend and return again.
The home is beautiful, decorated nicely, well-stocked. Maintenance / cleanliness is lacking - gutters, downstairs shower, hot tub, doors, windows, etc. Signs of mold/mildew throughout basement - owner told us it had been flooded. They know about the missing shower door sweep - makes puddles all over the bathroom floor. The hot tub cover has splotches of mold/mildew on it, and nasty film at the water line. I cleaned hair / gunk from filter area ( after being told it gets a weekly service?? ) The first day, wife called because it did not feel cool in the house. At night, I texted owner - it was getting miserably hot. She responded the next AM that she was sending a contractor friend - not an AC repairman. The day after, she said a real AC guy was coming. He did not show. He did come the NEXT day, and said the unit was out. He showed us air filter looked like it had never been changed. The day AFTER that - we only have ONE night left in our stay - she sends the friend to install one window unit upstairs and one downstairs at 9pm! Per the AC guy, the unit was too small. I realize that itâs not owners fault unit went out. But they dropped the ball by not taking care of it ASAP, instead of taking baby steps while we were suffering. I know you canât always get someone same day, but I felt as if she did not believe us. She did tell us about fans in the closets, which was better than nothing, but not by much as temperatures were close to 100 all week and we were absolutely MISERABLE.
This home is cosy and clean, surrounded by woods and river. It is truly homey as opposed to many rental properties. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.
This was our second stay at this property and it was just as we remembered. The location is so convenient to everything you could want in the mountains and with the steps to the river making it so accessible itâs hard to beat. As soon as you walk in the home you feel as though it is a family home and not just another rental property, and that made our stay so much more relaxing especially with smaller kids. We love the property and hope to be back soon!
We loved our stay! Loved being right on river. Host was very quick with responses before getting there and during our stay. The hot tub was wonderful especially during this time of year. We will definitely be back!
Weâve stayed here several times and will definitely be back. Beautiful location on the river. Very comfortable and nicely decorated house. Great kitchen with everything you need. Very responsive hosts. And the hot tub is a really nice extra. Perfect getaway.
What an amazing community! I have been overwhelmed with the loving and generous people of Celo. I have never been anywhere similar and the owners are so blessed to have a home there.
The owner, Robin, is an absolute gem!
She truly cares about her guests like family would and I am grateful that we are now connected.
We may be back home in Florida now, but our hearts are still in Celo.Thank you so very much,
Robin
Large, beautiful, & peaceful home. Decorations fit the region with many whimsical items to see & enjoy. The house is well appointed with many family & couple activities. The river was low for the season but that did not stop our grandsons from running up & down with great joy & curiosity. There are many necessary stores nearby yet far enough to keep the traffic & noise levels to a near zero level. The weather allowed us to open the windows feel/smell the fall breeze, sit on the two porches/decks, & take pleasure in the fire pit for smores every night. The hot tub is comfortable & convenient - love the indoor placement. The design of this property would allow 2 families to have their own floor with only sharing the kitchen & hot tub. The games & game table were used daily as we played with our grandsons. The host(s) are exceptional - they have thought of everything. We have already recommended this location to friends and family - this is a top quality property with exceptional amenities, an amazing location, and great hosts! We will return!!!!!
We had a wonderful visit to this clean, cozy home beside a beautiful river! We especially enjoyed skipping rocks in the river, hiking at Mt. Mitchell, and watching the chipmunks and hummingbirds at the backyard feeders. I definitely recommend that other guests fill the feeders when they stay as well!
Thank you for everything!
This was our second visit to this beautiful property, and we can't wait to book it again for next summer. The house is perfect for multigenerational families and there is a great basement with a bed/bath, hot tub, and game table downstairs for the night owls and two beds/2baths on the main floor. The river is beautiful. We tied our floats onto large rocks and spent the days fishing and just hanging out. Robin is great to work with, and the home has everything you need for an enjoyable visit. The wi-fi works great, btw. There are some beautiful hikes and several artisan markets nearby. Our family loves to visit this area to get away from the crowds. Great property, great location!
Excellent place for a vacation. The house was great and had everything we needed. The view of the river was fantastic off the two decks. We enjoyed family poker games on the big game table in the basement
This is a great place to stay. It was clean and peaceful. It is equipped with anything you could possibly need to include walking sticks, fishing poles, and more games than a toy store. We thoroughly enjoyed nearby daytime adventures and relaxing in the evening. We would love to come back and stay a week!

Mike and Robin are empty nesters with two grown sons; Mike is retired from the US Army and Robin owns her own business. Oldest son is in the Army following in Dad's footsteps and youngest son is working with youth at the church he grew up in.
Mike went to college at Western Carolina University and his parents bought a home in the general area many years ago. We spent many years looking for just the right home and it HAD to be on the river. Mike really enjoys fly fishing and Robin just likes the serenity of being close to the water. Both of us actually grew up in South Florida so having a home in the mountains has always been a dream for us.
When we get there it isn't unusual for Robin to just settle in, read books and relax. We enjoy going to the square to eat and visit our favorite clothing and gift shops. For lunch, there is the Garden Deli where you can eat inside or out and it's right on the square. There is a new Brewery off the square HomePlace which has pretty good food. In the spring, summer and fall, there is a craft fair featuring all kinds of local ware right on the square. There is a quaint little ONE SCREEN old-time theater that we are hoping gets refurbished and there is even live theater at Parkway Playhouse. You can check for events on Yancey County Chamber of Commerce website. Mt Mitchell Golf Course is 10 minutes up the road and Carolina Hemlocks is a state park/camp site where you can rent tubes and play in the river. Grandfather Mountain is about 45 minutes away and has great view and places to picnic. Crabtree Falls is a campground/state park that allows you to follow the trail down to view a very cool 60 ft waterfall, just remember you have to hike back up. Be sure and take the walking sticks provided at the house! This is a challenging hike. You can do a lot or nothing at all and still have a wonderful time.
