The location is perfection! Walking distance (maybe 5 minutes) to downtown Nevada City. There was a couple of hiccups but they were quickly and kindly resolved. There is ample parking and the grounds are truly beautiful.
It was tiny bit tough to get a shower inside a vintage tub, to be honest. And I wish there's a bit more space around the sink I can place my toothbrush those stuff. Otherwise, all perfect đ
Upon arrival property was not cleaned. Towels in disarray, sheets piled on top of bed! Tried to contact host unsuccessfully all week. Day of arrival he finally called me back.
Definitely not worth the priceđ
Positives: Great location. Studio apartment is near shops and restaurants. The ground floor location keeps it cool. Negatives: You can hear footsteps and use of microwave in house above. Bathroom needs updating, particularly the toilet, which is low and prone to clogging. Bathtub is on a platform, which makes it tricky to enter and exit. Shower head should have a mount to hang it without holding it. Outside area includes a small table overlooking pool that is inaccessible to this room. Lastly, entry directions should be clearer that this room is around the side of the house.
Property is beautiful. Very difficult to find because there are no house numbers. Called host who was very helpful. At night the studio is very dimly lit, plenty of light fixtures but all are very dim. The light in bathroom is the only bright light. Difficult to read at night. The TV did not work but the wifi was great. At night from 7:30 to about 11:15 there was a lot of walking around upstairs, which was a nuisance for both me and my dog. There was a large fenced yard to the right of the house which I did not know if I had access to, but it was not offered anytime after my arrival. Could have been much better communication form the host. Over all it is a very nice venue it just did not work out for me because of the above reasons. I left having spend one night out of two.
This tiny apartment was absolutely perfect for my weekend stay in Nevada City!
It is surrounded by trees and flowers. The only noise I heard was birds singing in the trees and maybe distant traffic sounds. I didn't even hear neighbors. I can't even properly express how completely peaceful it was.
The little apartment was exceptionally clean and tidy. The decor was minimal, tasteful, and peaceful.
Finding the entrance was a bit of a challenge. The street number was not easily seen from the road. Google Maps told me that I arrived, so I set out looking. It is located down the side of the house, a bit hidden, which made it challenging to locate. But what makes it challenging, also makes it private and peaceful.
Just a caution... there are many little steps to access this apartment and the toilet is very low to the ground. This was not an issue for me, but a caution to those who have mobility issues.
If you are considering a time in Nevada City, this is a fantastic place to stay!
Great location which is why I would give it 5 stars for that only. Studio apartment is near shops and restaurants. Negatives: You can hear footsteps and use of microwave and bathroom in house above. Bathroom needs updating, particularly the toilet, which is super low to the ground. Bathtub is on a platform, which makes it tricky to enter and exit. If you are elderly, this could be a problem. The cold water was turned off at the wall entry. Took a little while to figure why there was no cold water. Reason why - it leaks into the tub so you really need to turn them off at the wall.
The description says shower but not entirely true. The shower head needs a mount to hang it without holding it. Shampoo was not included, just shower gel - which doesn't work well on the hair. TV - although listed as a smart tv - which was nice. The size of the TV is super small and across the room. Would have been nicer to have it mounted on the wall at the foot of the bed. Entry directions not clear at all. Thankfully, someone called to walk me through the property to where I was staying.
Says to park in the lower lot but it is behind a fence so you would not recognize this upon arrival. Signage would help along with the title of the room you rent (there are other rentals on property. Heater is in the wall - you start this by pushing the buttons - another thing that could have been listed in the arrival instructions.
Cozy cottage vibe with nice outdoor seating overlooking a pool. Perfect for a bottle of wine! So close to town with great parking. We had a great time!
This private studio was the perfect retreat for a weekend in Nevada City and had every amenity I could ask for. Walking distance from all the shops and restaurants but still very quiet and secluded. The claw-foot tub is phenomenal and the bed was super comfy. Highly recommend!
We had a great stay here in this beautiful cottage hideaway! The location could not be better, and it felt both quiet and private. The tub was amazing and probably my favortie part :) We arrived at night and the walk to the location was a bit dark. There are motion lights as you get to door though. And it is quite slippery when it rains so be careful and use the flashlights that they offer. REcommend and enjoy!
We are a San Francisco family who fell in love with Nevada City at first sight when dropping our oldest daughter to sleepaway camp on the Yuba River in July of 2013. We stumbled upon 534 Spring Street that weekend, with it's proximity being only a block behind Nevada City's Broad Street commercial district, and 6 miles from the unbelievably beautiful Yuba River, and knew that this was somewhere we wanted to retreat from San Francisco's city life.
The charm of this property is unparalleled. There is a real sense of privacy and seclusion as it's located on a full-acre with fruit and nut bearing trees, vast landscape and an incredible variety of trees and plant life....yet it's only a 5 minute walk to all of the city's awesome cafes and restaurants, nightlife, theaters, hikes, bike trails, and more. We love it!
Our entire property consists of a spacious 3-bedroom home with a 2-room in-law suite, an additional separate garden studio on the side of the house (this listing), and also a large 2-room barn on the rear of the lot. All 4 'compartments' of the property have separate entrances and are very different spaces, yet all updated with new flooring, Restoration Hardware linens, towels and cutlery. All new Beautyrest Mattresses throughout the property in all bedrooms, and plush down and down-alternative pillows. Comfort abounds in every element of the property. We redesigned the home, in-law, barn, and garden-studio by blending today's modern updates with an influx of locally sourced antiques and accessories, maintaining a regard for the property's eclectic and historical 'cabin-like' past, having been built in 1851 by two Irish brothers who 'struck it rich' in the early days of the 1849 Gold Rush.
