The tenant, Katherine, or Kathy was a big problem right from the beginning. She was difficult, very unpleasant, and had no sense of class or manners. In addition, she is just an annoying person that no one wants to be around. With her, everything was a big drama. So, yes, I quickly realized I have made a huge mistake as soon as Katherine, the drama queen checked in. Unfortunately, it was way too late. Anyway, Kathy arrived with an entourage of companions (buddies?groupies?) without ever notifying me or the homeowners, then keeping one of the buddies overnight to stay with her without our permission thus breaking the house rules from day one. Eventually, Kathy became a tenant from hell and the following 70 nights of her occupancy was the worst nightmare. It was hellish for the homeowners (the housekeepers/maintenance crew as well) during the entire period while she was occupying the property. She constantly found problems with everything. She complained about everything and nothing was ever good enough for her. There was no end to her complaints. She kept demanding more and more and more. I kind of knew right away that the tenant had a problem with telling the "truth" and quickly found out that she would lie about anything to get her way. Another unpleasant thing was that she smoked all day (while our VRBO posting clearly states that our rental is smoke-free and smoking is not allowed) but she ignored the house rule anyway. She also constantly used profanity, foul language, and swear words whether on the phone, in person, or while texting. She literally turned our beautiful cabin into squalor and carport into a homeless encampment. I have been a property manager for almost 15 years and have been working for these wonderful, well-respected property owners who are both are prominent scientists, for about 10 helping with their multiple beautiful properties located in various highly desirable, upscale locations in and around San Francisco Bay. These particular homeowners are benevolent, thoughtful, and the most caring couple I have ever met. They have been hosting "guests" from all corners of the planet in their 5-acre hilltop location for many years. It is an absolute pleasure and honor to work for them. Unfortunately, this is the first time I have encountered someone so vindictive, bitter, resentful, mean, insecure, and despicable. I certainly DO NOT recommend Kathy or Katherine to other homeowners.
