"In the midst of the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen sits a house we will never forget, a house inside which you will find the true heart of Connemara and Ireland, a house boiling with history built by a very generous and noble-minded Irish family, a house that seems to be able to welcome the whole world without the least suffering (don''t do it though ;).
There is indeed close to nothing that we did not appreciate during our stay. Inside and outside these 4 strong walls, we lived Ireland in the most enjoyable way. Between the fishing of mackerels and pollacks, the Galway hookers, the lobsters, Oilean Mhic Dara and its Feile and hundreds of other breathtaking (and tasty) surprises, we brought back our best vacation time ever. Forget the weather: wind and rain makes the country and bring out the best of human beings. If you''re looking for sunscreen greasy vapors floating in hot & still air, go south. In Glynsk, you breathe and live! Ăirinn go BrĂĄch!
John and his family are very warm people and provided impeccable support to our stay as well as direct local entertainments. The house was very clean, warm and opened when we arrived (it just tells you everything right here). We loved the bog peats all ready for us to heat our back when these unbelievable sunsets reddened our faces in the living room, we loved the quietness of the place and its clever design, we loved this wind that kept on reminding us how humble we must be when facing these tortured lands where history slowly shaped the true kindness of their owners.
No... there is very little that we did not like, that we will forget. And these pixels that we brought back with us... ah these pixels, you should see them! No. I''d rather say: you should live them by all means! Thank you McDonagh family! Thank you John, thank you Ireland. We will be back!
(If there is just one thing... the only thing... Get rid of the TV! - no need - definitely. Turn your comfy armchair in the living room to the West for a sec and you''ll understand). JB, Sandrine, Madeleine, Marie and Benjamin. The 5Vs!
