Great apartment, great location

The quiet, well appointed apartment is near many restaurants, bars, ice cream places, the river, antique sites, the magnificent church....what more do you need? The Thursday and Sunday markets are out your front door. The Dentelles and so many other sights are very close by. Parking was easy, free, and close. The hosts are wonderful and helpful. It has everything you need for a wonderful stay.

Ideal

Eric met us promptly at the scheduled time and gave us a run down of the property and the neighborhood. He answered all our questions and made us feel very welcomed. This property was very clean, comfortable and well supplied. The kitchen is tiny but has all the modern conveniences - microwave, large fridge, coffee maker.... The owners have taken great care in adding homey touches that makes one feel very much at home. There are a lot of narrow stairs so anyone with mobility problems should be aware of this potential issue. This apartment is well located and convenient to restaurants and shopping; we would definitely consider a stay here again.

great location in l'Isle sur la Sorgue

The window looking over marketplace and church is fantastic. I enjoy travelling in winter and like to be able to see what's happening in the town or village where we stay. Because our stay was interrupted (theft of passport etc in Paris) we didn't get to enjoy this fabulous apartment in this perfect location as much as we hoped. We will be back.

French Townhome

We loved the character of this old home. The charm came with many levels of stairs that we happily climbed. The old church was next door and the church bells were lovely and added to our experience. We loved opening the windows and peeking into day to day life in L’Isle-sur-la-sorgue. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Character flat great location.

It was so lovely to be in a flat that was so well set up. We often cook at home but there were bars and restaurants footsteps away. It was very clean and beautifully decorated. Eric was a great host and even took us out for a drink đŸ˜»đŸ˜»đŸ˜»đŸ˜»

Provence stay

It was clean and comfortable. Maybe new pillows would be nice. The stairs up to the second floor were very narrow. We had a large bag and it was a bit tricky hauling it up the stairs. Toilet is quite high. Almost needed a step to get on it. Eric was very nice and met us at the door to show us around. Location great for walking around the town.

Our second stay at Eric & Marie's apartment

We stayed at Eric and Marie's apartment two years ago and enjoyed our stay so much that we've come back again. The apartment on Place Liberté is right in the centre of L'Isle sur la Sorgue. It is clean, has a homely feel, and has everything that we needed for our week long stay. We particularly liked staying here as Eric and Marie are great hosts. It was always a pleasure to communicate with Eric by email and we enjoyed our chats whenever we met him. Merci Eric and Marie for another memorable visit to L'Isle sur la Sorgue and we hope to return before too long. Helen & Tony - Travelsignposts

Charming apartment in the heart of the village, comfortable and well appointed with delightful hosts

We had a wonderful time in L'Isle sur la Sorgue in this attractive apartment, so close to all the action in the centre of the village. We felt very much at home and enjoyed the life of the village with the markets, music and parades all happening in the square below and in view of the living room windows. It is also a great place from which to explore the beautiful villages of the Luberon and to use our bicycles for rides around the river and out into the country - to places like Le Thor and Fontaine de Vaucluse. Eric and Marie were so helpful with advice and information, both before we arrived and afterwards. We loved all the shops and restaurants nearby - with wonderful boulangeries in close proximity to the apartment. Market days were special with such a variety of stalls and we soon had our favourite vendors to go to. The apartment has everything one needs including quality appliances, and also offers a well stocked bookshelf which we both enjoyed. We will always have special memories of our two months in this picturesque place. Thank you for making our stay so special. Jan and Jim, New Zealand

Experience the Provencal village lifestyle

We stayed here for a month and absolutely love the place! First the location for us was superb; birds eye view of the town square. The market, weddings music, the bells, all things Provence happing just below... The place is small, really quaint and comfortable. Be prepared for a little stair workout to burn of the bakery treats! Our hosts Eric and Marie were always available and attentive to our simple needs. 5 Star experience!

A Perfect Apartment Location in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Eric and Marie's apartment is located right in the historical centre of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and we couldn’t have asked for a better location for our week-long exploration of the Luberon. It is described as a charming apartment, and charming it certainly is. Everything we could have needed for our stay was in the apartment, including a washing machine which was very handy for a summer visit. The Wifi worked well which we needed for our work. The photos above accurately reflect the apartment, so there were no surprises. We love the French markets and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue has markets every Thursdays and Sundays. From the window of the apartment we could see all the activities in the square. All the shops and restaurants are within walking distance of the apartment, so no car is needed. The intention of our visit was to explore some of the Luberon villages by public transport and we were able to do this using the public bus and train. Eric was always quick to respond to email queries before our arrival and it was a pleasure to meet him in person. We were so impressed with his friendliness and have written about him in a separate post. Eric and Marie, thank you for a wonderful stay in your apartment and in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. When we visit the Luberon again, we will definitely stay at your apartment.

Best Provencal Lodging in Isle Sur la Sorgue! Meilleur hébergement provençal dans L'isle!

This apartment was a perfect blend of authentic Provencal style and modern conveniences. Eric met us at the nearby free parking and walked us to the apt. It was absolutely lovely--walking up the curved tile stairway made me feel as if I were in another era altogether. I loved the interior wooden shutters, exposed beams and beautifully-tiled floors. My bedroom view of Place de la Liberte was especially nice for market day; Thursday's market had everything I wanted, and more! It was a great place for people-watching and I also found wonderful food and clothing bargains. The apartment is walking distance to just about everything in L'isle (cafes, bakeries, restaurants, shops, etc.) with plenty of photo opportunities. Great 'base' location to visit nearby towns and the Mediterranean! Eric was very helpful and made himself available in case we needed help with anything during our stay. I loved the apartment and would definitely stay again!

Charming is the right word to describe this apartment!

Absolutely loved this apartment and loved our stay in L'isle Sur La Sorgue. This place, with the three floors (main room at bottom, one bedroom and BR middle, and attic bedroom on top) was perfect for our visit to Provence. An easy drive to the other areas of Luberon (don't miss Roussillon) and we also found it easy to get to Avignon, Arles and Pont du Gard. We visited this area in March-still rather Wintry there, without many tourists-which was very nice for us. The Sunday market under the apartment is fantastic. The apartment was clean and as described, Eric was a wonderful host and we would definitely stay in this unique, charming apartment again.

Excellent apartment for Luberon and Provence

This is the second time we have stayed here. This is an extremely good location to visit Provence and the Luberon. The famous hill-top villages of the Luberon and the Cote de Rhone are an easy drive. The apartment has been very well renovated to reflect its history. Although it is narrow, it is very well appointed with everything we needed. It overlooks the town-square- always intersting with a market outside our window of a Sunday and Thursday. Eric's recommended restaurant, Mistral, is excellent. Thank you, Eric.

Just What We Needed

There are many wonderful things to say about this apartment and about L'Isle sur la Sorgue. We used the town as a base to explore other places in Provence, and it worked very well for that since it is centrally located for what we wanted to do. It was easy to park our car in the lot nearby. We drove to the apartment twice, to unload and at the end of our stay, to load. I'm a little nervous driving in such narrow streets but it was fine. The town itself is totally charming. I'm so glad we stayed there. The two markets, on Sunday and Thursday, are amazing for crafts, produce, meats, seafood, people watching, and browsing. They take place just outside the apartment and all around. Restaurants are delish and romantic. The river which runs all through the town is lovely. Shops are fun, people are friendly. I loved going out each morning to get the day's bread and discovering which place is best. (Turn right out the front door, to the first street on the right, go beyond the Carrfour grocery store to the first bakery on the right.) The apartment is right on the central square across from the main church. The location is pefect. Cafe France, the bistro a few doors down is fun for sipping, sitting and watching. Eric is a great landlord. He met us when we arrived and took time to explain everything and make recommendations. He was available when we called with a question a few days later. We had to leave early the last morning so he came by the night before, which made things easier for us. I expected that there would be noise from people in the square, but there really isn't. The only noise that bothered me was the sound of the trash crew early some mornings but that's soon over. The apartment is one flight up, and is itself on three floors. This is was no problem at all for us but would be for anyone who has trouble with stairs. Also there isn't really a shower. It's a tub with a handheld spray. Again, that was not a problem for us. I highly recommend the town, and I highly recommend the apartment. It's clean, well appointed, central and plenty big. I especially enjoyed opening the living room window while eating breakfast and enjoying the breeze and the gentle sounds of the square. I'd love to return and stay there again.

Excellent choice

Two 70 year-olds and their daughter and son-in-law spent a week in this well-equipped, superbly-located, atmospheric Town House. We loved it as we did L'Isle sur la Sorgue. The Town House contains all the equipment one needs and Eric's statement that the recent addition of double-glazing is effective in controlling Village noises is absolutely true, and I'm a light sleeper. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would strongly recommended this apartment to any friend. Without exception, our experience has been that French people are courteous, friendly and make thoroughly agreeable landlords. In this regard, Eric & Marie-Claude are at the top of the list. Thank you, it was a pleasure, guys!

nice, authentic apartment, lovely town

In October (2014) we stayed a week in l' Isle sur-la-Sorgue, in this nice apartment, with typical Provencal sycamore trees waving the Mistral through our window. The same window that let through the bells of the old church and the sound and smells of the market right below. Eric and Marie are considerate hosts. Parking your car is possible on parking sites, most of them very close. There is a train station in L' Isle, so you can go easily to Avignon (and further). The town is very vivid, with its regional function and locals doing there jobs (including drinking Pastis on a terrace off course). Refreshing, after our visits to the beautiful but at night very quiet villages like Bonnieux/OppÚde-le-Vieux/MénÚrbes/Lacoste etc. Walking and biking (with racing bikes, on the small roads) in the Lubéron is lovely.

3 nights in Aug 2014

The apartment is as described, so be assured that what you see is what you get. Eric met us on arrival and was warm and welcoming as had been the case during our correspondence during booking. He also provided us with a welcome gift which was thoughtful. You definitely need to be mobile to navigate the stairs which we were aware of so was not a concern for us. Wonderfully central to everything being on the church square. Only problem being some revellers do interrupt your sleep with their late antics, but it does mention that you may here the noise during your stay due to location. Although we missed the market because of our date I would recommend it based on comments from friends that were here duing market day, madness, but great. Thanks to Eric and Marie.

Lovely apartment in very central location

Perfect for 4 people. We were 2 adults and two teenagers (who just loved their loft bedroom.) The apartment looks just as nice in reality as in the pictures. Loved the convenience of walking two doors down to get a coffee at Cafe de France or bread at the bakery next door. Loved also the view from the living room and bedroom window which overlook the square. Sunday and Thursday markets set up right outside the apartment so get ready for an early start and first choice of local delicacies. Our hosts Marie and Eric were very kind and helpful. They had very good advice for us on what to not miss in the area. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit.
