Clearly a well loved family house on the owners farm. Secluded 10 m pool in nice shrubbery. Verandah with patio doors, with pleasant views of the garden, was welcome, given the cool weather. Lots of equipment for young children. A short car drive to Isle sur le Sorgue and a very good base to explore the area. The owners were very helpful, but limited English. We enjoyed our stay.
We very much enjoyed our stay. The property has a great south-facing pool with its own gate and amazing flowers. The pool is 10m from a spacious property that is ideal for kids with swings and table tennis. The extended family were very responsive to our needs. Bear in mind that the property is next to a fruit farm so there a few more mosquitos than typical of Provence, but discipline on insect repellant and door closing can handle this. Good bakery just 5 mins drive away.
Clean, typical old farmhouse with friendly one-eyed black dog.
Only problem was we never received a street address. Our guests, who are French, spent two hours finding the place. We happened to stop at the farm to ask directions, only to find we were already there.
What better definition of rural? Yet only 10 minutes from Isle sur la Sourge.
The farmer's wife welcomed us as did her son and daughter.
Nice pool and garden. House with air conditioning and enough space for six persons. Perfect starting point for trips around the Provence and very friendly hosts.
We stayed for one week at this spacious house, which had all the features it was advertised for. The house - especially the kitchen - is really well equipped and suitable for a family. However, the biggest plus of the house is its swimming pool, which is a small, secluded tropical paradise about 15 m away from the house. The hosts were friendly and made us feel at home immediately; we will definitely try to return to this relaxing place with some more time.
Peaceful well equipped property with fantastic swimming pool
Property
The property is located in the grounds of a working fruit farm but has it's own gardens and drive.
All on one level, there is a sun room, well equipped kitchen, lounge/diner and three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are double and one is a twin. There was plenty of wardrobe and dressing table space.
There is a separate WC and one bathroom with shower, bidet and sink but no further WC. There were only three of us staying so this did not cause major problems but for a property capable of accommodating six people another WC would be nice.
In common with other french properties in the south of France there are a limited number of small shuttered windows which made the inside quite dark however the obvious benefit of this is that it kept the property cool. Even with outside temperatures of 33 C the inside never got above 24 C. There is a air conditioning unit location the hall which does provide some cooling to all the other rooms which lead off it although we rarely used it. A nice touch was mosquito nets on the windows which means you can have the windows open at night without being bitten to death. Overall at night the temperature was comfortable to allow a good nights sleep.
The swimming pool is in a separate area slightly away, maybe 15m, from the property but is private and not shared. Surrounded by beautiful plants and equipped with a shaded sun patio the pool area was superb. It was clean, a good size and not two deep without any obvious slope and my petite wife was within her depth at all times. There are built in steps to enter and leave the pool. The pool area also has a an external shower with hot and cold water. Without doubt the best pool we have ever had and why we spent a large part of our holiday there.
Owners
The owners were very friendly and we were greeted by what appeared to be a large part of the family who proudly showed us around. You will need to brush up your French as they spoke no English. During the week little gifts of apples, melons and some delicious jus de pomme were left for us in the sun room direct from the farm. Lovely owners.
Location
The farm is along a quiet lane near L'Isle-sur- la-Sorgue. The local village Velorques is about 1.5km away and does have some facilities. Cavaillon and Avignon are within 20km and the stunning villages of the Luberon are also on your doorstep. The mighty Mont Ventoux is around 45km away and is a must for a visit. We went twice - once at night, wow!
Highly recommended.
