Our stay at Cathyâs A-frame was wonderful. The property had everything we needed for a small family celebration and is near some of our favorite Colorado activities. We could not get enough of that mountain view so weâll definitely be back.
Cathy is an excellent communicator and made sure everything was taken care of during our stay. The house has obviously been recently remodeled and is fantastic for a family gathering. The views we're by far the best part, but also the reservoir that is just down the road is amazing. Lots of hiking, waterfalls, fishing, off-roading (if thats your thing) and just beauty everywhere. It's also perfectly positioned between Alma and Breck so take your pick depending on what you need. We highly recommend this property and would love to come back in the winter season.
Wonderful stay. Nice relaxed had a fireplace. Plenty of firewood nice views, and we caught the winters first snow. Down side dial up internet and no phone service. Didnât get messages form the owner till we left.
Our experience was better than we expected all around. Cathy was extremely helpful and only a text or phone call away with any questions we had. She took very good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed in the house- toiletries, plates, silverware, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper etc.. The house was extremely roomy for our party of 5 and we all felt like we had our own space. The fireplace and hot tub were perfect for the cold snowy weather! The only recommendation I would have for potential renters is to check with Cathy beforehand on the road conditions and the need for four wheel drive. We had a 4x4 and definitely needed it once we got off the highway. Thanks for the great stay!
the location was beautiful, we found the house to be in need of lots of repairs. Lots of trip hazards on the front and back deck, unsafe stairways outside, 1/2-working hot tub, no propane for the grill,2 empty tanks, dirty dishes in the cupboard, had to rewash many items. we also had to pick up trash that was left out, junk strewn about the yard, more trip hazards. Broken tiles on the shower floor, floor transitions not installed properly, more trip hazards. Front screen door wouldn't shut because of deck boards that were loose. Light fixtures missing or non working light bulbs. My partner cut her toe on the coffee table because of a dangerous sharp edge. Dog hair all over the carpet. Had wet towels put in the cabinet after 3 days. The ceiling fan had a build up crud on the blades. we contacted the owner with this detailed list and took pictures of everything. would not recommend this to anyone, very unsafe home, with lots of potential. 1 star rating for the house, 5 star for the location
We enjoyed the tranquil setting and spectacular views! The house had every amenity needed and was very comfortable. The whole family had a wonderful time! Thank you!
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful mountain cabin! My favorite part was the hot tub on the back deck with an amazing view! We watched the sunset every night from the hot tub. Our days were spent relaxing in the cabin or hiking on one of the MANY awesome hiking trails nearby. We also spent a little time shopping and eating in Breckenridge. We are flatlanders from Texas, so the altitude did require some prep. We purchased Boost Oxygen bottles from Dick's Sporting Goods in Colorado Springs before heading up to the cabin, but I noticed they have them in many stores in Breckenridge as well. I found the Boost very helpful when I was feeling a little breathless or dizzy. We also tried our best to stay hydrated and to rest and relax on our first day there. We probably would've done even better if we'd avoided caffeine and alcohol, but the cabin's back deck was way too tempting to not enjoy my morning coffee or my evening wine/cocktail on it! Oh well! Luckily, the mountain spring water straight from the sink tap was just as good to help us stay hydrated as much as possible. I also found the humidifier provided in the cabin very helpful. We used it nightly along with our saline nasal spray! Dinner was easy to prepare in the kitchen. We had almost everything we needed or we were able to improvise. The only things I missed from home in the kitchen were a cocktail jigger or small measuring cup (with ounces) and kitchen sheers. I was glad to see that the kitchen had a coffee bean grinder and coffee maker with a reusable metal filter (no paper filters necessary). There were also angel wings wine openers and acrylic wine glasses that you can use in the hot tub. In the bathrooms, there was liquid shampoo and liquid soap, but I would suggest bringing plenty of lotion for high-altitude dry skin and don't forget your chapstick! The sheets on the bed were amazing, but we found the comforter was a little too thick and woke us up too hot. However, there are thinner blankets provided in the cabin that we could've/should've used instead. I also appreciated the jars of birdseed next to the back door! It was so fun to set some out and watch the beautiful Steller's Jays, Magpies, and squirrels come visit for a little meal throughout the day, even while we were in the hot tub! I loved having my binoculars with me as well to look at all the birds, mountains, & stars a little closer. All in all, it was a fabulous stay for us in the Colorado Mountains! Thank you, Cathy!
My husband and I brought our 14 year old dog up for a quick weekend. Everything was perfect. Amazing views from the deck/hot tub. Great kitchen and grills. Will be back!
Views were breathtaking. The owner Cathy was more than accommodating on any and all questions we posed to her. Accommodations were good. The stars at night were breathtaking. Had a little problem with altitude at first but well worth views day and night.
I honestly hesitated about writing such a wonderful review so that this place doesn't get booked out. This place is wonderful, the pictures don't do it justice. Cozy and inviting, big enough to spread out or cuddle up together in the living room. Close enough to town, but far enough away for some respite. We will be back, without a doubt.
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here. We were in constant amazement of the details Cathy put into our stay. It was cozy and extremely relaxing. I would definitely recommend!
Owner cancelled AFTER we showed up, leaving us stranded
It was awful. After a three hour drive to the mountains, our reunion of friends showed up to the house which we had booked-and been fully charged for-four months prior. The owner was unpacking her own bags and told us she was not aware of our reservation. We showed her proof of our reservation, which she then cancelled on the spot. She told us to leave in spite of this and advised us to find a hotel. I would never rent from her again; be warned. On top of that, VRBO registration to book a new place was closed, and they did not answer their â24 hour hotline.â A very disappointing experience from every perspective, and I have a long history of being an excellent customer. This ruined it for me.
This amazing property tucked away in the woods was exactly what we were looking for for a romantic weekend in the mountains. The views were spectacular, and it was private enough to feel like you had the whole mountain to yourself. Everything we may have needed was available, and if we had any questions the communication was great.
Our family had an amazing stay. The property was very beautiful, clean and comfortable.
What an amazing property. It was clean and comfortable. We loved the peacefulness and solitude of the property. The hot tub in the back has gorgeous Mountain Viewâs. The property owner Cathy was so nice and gave perfect directions and instructions.
My husband and I loved our short vacation at Cathy's cabin. Super private and very quiet. Large primary upstairs bedroom with lovely view very comfy bed with soft sheets. Also really enjoyed the hot tub and being in the trees. The cabin had everything we needed and was very nicely located close to Breckenridge and amazing hiking. We will be back!
Cathy made this whole experience very pleasant. She not only called me to chat before we stayed (which provides a huge comfort) but she provided many ideas and Yelp links for things to do and see. She also provided every amenity we could ask for upon arriving. I can't stress the importance of this. Having wash cloths, Kleenex, and hand soap available upon arrival is something many people just don't do. But Cathy did. Her home is large and beautiful. The kitchen is wonderfully appointed, and I cannot say enough about the great room (we used the fireplace twice) and the next door family room where we watched TV every night. The hot tub views were incredible! Being able to enjoy the views of Mount Lincoln and Mount Cameron from the luxury of the hot tub was a particularly high point. We were also relatively equidistant to Breckenridge and Alma/Fairplay so siteseeing and shopping for supplies was easy and fun. We'd love to return!
Our experience from the time of booking met or exceeded expectations. There were many WOW factors as we arrived, including the scenic drive in and out. We were hoping for a location that would make us question coming home - and this perfect cabin did not disappoint. We did not need to bring a thing except for our food. We had no reason to leave at all! But did find a wonderful experience in some of the surrounding towns. The views are even better than the pictures. We had a couple things come up that were not planned and Cathy was incredibly accommodating and supportive. We are excited to return with the family next time!
If peace and quiet in a tranquil setting is what you seek, this is the place for you. Sitting on 3 acres, the home is wonderfully secluded. I never saw another person during our stay. We snowshoed during the day and sat in the hot tub, under the stars, at night. Itâs the perfect house for families as it has numerous hang out areas so that no one ever feels on top of one another. The owner is quick to respond and very helpful. I highly recommend this wonderful space.
