Overall it was incredible, the bed to me was not comfortable and the outside lighting was almost nonexistent but other then that it was a great stay and we even saw a bear!
Quaint, cozy & well equipped. We had a great combination of old world simplicity, mixed with the convenience of modern technology. It was a great experience & I'd definitely stay their again!
Excellent location. My daughter loved sleeping up in the loft. We hiked up to the mountains to sea trail and she was super excited about the trails. She loves to camp and the yurt was great for November as we did not freeze.
It was a nice place. Saw some bears under the deck. Wished it had a queen bed as advertised but only a full. The heater kept it pretty warm overall it was a nice stay. Adding some different size knives and an extra skillet would be a help.
Overall the location was great. Very quiet area set back from the city and traffic. Close enough to get anywhere you need in Asheville, far enough to get away from it all. We saw a momma bear and two cubs on the road in. The only thing I wish would have been nicer is a clear view from the porch. It was overgrown and didnât offer much there. Iâm sure in the fall it would be better. Overall nice stay. Thank you
The yurt and the property around it were very good.
The shower in the bathroom was a disappointment, there was mold all along the outer edge and overall it needs to be replaced.
There weren't enough bath towels for our 4 night stay,if we would have known we would have brought our own. The kitchen could use more cooking utensils and kitchen towels. Overall we very much enjoyed our stayed at this very restful peaceful property!
It is a yurt on the side of a mountain, up a long thin rocky, ROUGH road. Would not stay here again unless you have a truck or Jeep. I inquired about the road b/c I have a decent car. We wonât recommend due to road and hot tub was extremely dirty in fact a health hazard. Otherwise loved the privacy and pics were accurate.
Overall, staying in a yurt was an interesting experience and our boys were surprised we were "staying in a tent!" With that said, there were a few issues. The first night there was a dog outside barking and scratching at the door most of the night. Likely not the owner's fault, but had me wondering if we'd made a mistake. The wifi was intermittent at best which was a problem as we were depending on our electronics to map out our next day's activities. Even though it is advertised to sleep 6, there were only linens for either the futon in the loft or the futon couch, but not both, and only 2 wash cloths and 4 towels.
Perhaps the biggest thing people should know is that you have to drive nearly a mile up a gravel mountain road to reach the yurt. We found this out AFTER we booked, but would be good to know before. The directions we received said you do not need 4-wheel drive (which we do not have), which is true if it is dry, but after a day of light rain we did have some issues gaining traction in several spots on our return to the yurt. I cannot imagine making up the hill is there was any snow on the ground!!!
It is a peaceful location once you get up the hill-- close to Asheville and the Biltmore.
Dusty and full of cobwebs and bugs, live and dead ones, Picture does not show the full story.
My family was looking foward to staying at this seemingly extraordinary accommodation. It was a weekend vacation to celebrate my daughter's birthday. She couldn't wait to sleep on the loft. She climbed up excitedly and came down freaked out because of the bad musty smell and dead bugs all around the mattress. I don't know how they did it, but all the photos shown on this listing gave such a pristine condition of the interior. Dust, dust, dust EVERYWHERE!!! I could understand that it would be difficult to clean this place. But that task falls on the owner and he should see to it. Cobwebs between the celing rungs were very evident, in several places. Tapestries that looks so cool in the photos were layered with visible dust so THICK, it made me gag. My guess is they never get taken down to get cleaned. It was disgusting!!! I tried not to move too much in case I disturb the dust. People with asthma issues, definitely should not stay here. Main floor area was clean enough, but the walls were crawling with stinkbugs and spiders. We killed at least two dozens of them during our short stay of two evenings. I understand that we were in the woods, but we didn't pay to sleep in the room full of bugs. Shower doors had a sheen of orange, I could only guess from lack of cleaning.
We appreciated the archetecture of the yurt, but not the cleanliness of the interior at all. Thoroughly disappointed experience. I wouldn't stay here ever, nor would I recommend it to anyone. My daughter was relieved that we had to descend the treacheous dirt path only one last time as we were leaving. For that's what it was, a path, not even a "road", back to the secondary road down the hill. If you have a Hummer or Yukon, you'll get stuck. Path not wide enough. If you have a sputtering car, don't attempt the climb. It truly is a scary journey up there. We should be refunded for our unplesant stay. We dusted and debugged our sleeping area of the cobwebs. The owner charged us like if we were staying in downtown Asheville with all the conveniences. It is definitely overpriced and is less than secondary accommodation. Stay away, unless it is offered for free. Even then, I wouldn't stay here again.
The yurt was absolutely perfect. The only thing that we didnât like was that on the photos it looks like there is a mountain view, but there are trees blocking it. Other than that, it was perfect and I would definitely come back!
Pros
Cleanliness of yurt
Kitchen spices nice cook wear
Location
Cons
The hot tub filter had large goo particles coming off of it. The amount of chemicals coming from the hot tub was so strong it burned my eyes and choked me. We get a place usually twice a year with a hot tub. Iâve never experienced this.
The bed leaned to one side. It wasnât comfortable.
We werenât unable to stay connected to Wi-Fi. The network only appeared on our phone for about 15 seconds and would not reappear.
Very nice place to stay. There is not a mountain view, though, it is a forest view since the trees have grown up and block the mountain view. Definitely enjoyed our stay.
I loved pretty much everything about this yurt! I was visiting Asheville for the first time and it was close enough for me to explore downtown and the art district while letting me go on a fun downhill excursion everytime I left the cabin đ the dome was amazing. My only dislike is the angle of the shower head but due to the size and position of the doors, it's nothing to be upset about, just had to bob and weave some. The kitchen had pretty much anything you could need and there were extra towels and wash clothes. Extra pillows and blankets if needed as well. The wifi wasn't consistent but again, nothing to be upset about, I needed to unwind anyway. I'll definitely be renting again to see the mountain views once the leaves are out of the way.
We throughly enjoyed our stay in the serenity. Rained a good portion of our trip but was really well accommodating. Hot tub was great. My husband and I was staying for our 20th wedding anniversary.
We were wanting a wilderness experience while still having modern conveniences and we got that. Perfect little place to experience the NC mountains while still being close enough to Asheville to get that experience too. Additionally, there was a bear close so we saw it a few times.
Everything was exactly as described. Nothing fancy, but exactly what you need.
Host was quick to assist when we needed something.
My wife and I really enjoyed this secluded spot in the mountains. The views were amazing and the amenities in the yurt did not make you feel too far from civilization. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway.
We had a blast! The yurt is awesome! Definitely recommend!! If youâre from the flat land (like me) the drive up and down may give you a little anxiety, but itâs definitely doable and worth it.
