Check in was very easy and the camp was clean. We loved the screened in porch. It was kind of steep getting to the water for us older folks and no ladder to get on the dock. Swimming area was great. We tried the grill on the porch as instructed but we ended up with smoke everywhere, suggest an area for grilling outside. Overall we had a wonderful time connecting with family and friends
Had a very nice stay at the cabin. Family came to visit and enjoy the lake. Their was an issue with the water, the owners were quick to resolve it for us. Highly recommend this rental for relaxing rustic vacation.
Karp Camp is a great hidden gem on Wilson Pond. Comfortable, rustic and well- appointed for a relaxing getaway.
The lake is clean and there is plenty of space in the house with the porch.
The hosts are easy to contact and very responsive.
We loved the screened porch and swimming for hours in the âpond.â Pond doesnât do justice to this large lake with crystal clear water. Our hosts just next door were friendly and helpful!
We enjoyed our time on the screened in porch which is where we were most of the time. The beds where very firm which i would rather have then soft. My old bones would have enjoyed a 2 inch memory foam, but I was happy. Enjoyed our stay.
Four of us stayed for three days enjoyed swimming multiple times in the beautiful pond and spent most of the time on the screened in porch reading and playing games. The loons can be heard every evening!
The lake is beautiful. The sunsets are amazing. The kids loved swimming and kayaking in the lake. If you don't like nature then this is not the place for you. We love nature and respect it's critters. Alot of spiders but they are fascinating and they were all outside. The space accommodated the 6 of us perfectly. We had a good time.
Cabin was clean & cozy. Second bathroom was a plus. Mattresses were very comfortable compared to some rentals we have experienced. Nice that we were able to bring our dogs. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. Beautiful lake for swimming & fishing. A very enjoyable vacation.
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
camp was small
water pipe in front of dock, had to move it to dock the boats .grill was not gas and on porch no smoke dedector. path to dock was steep. camp was over priced
The cottage is an old-style Maine camp with a few updates. We were apparently the 1st guests of the season, and surfaces had not been thoroughly wiped of the build up of dust, insects, etc.. There were also some stains in the carpets. Otherwise, our family members, who were visiting from another state, were happy with the accommodations and enjoyed Wilson Pond.
We had a fantastic time and felt relaxed and cozy in the cottage. I am used to a soft mattress at home so the firm mattress in the master bedroom took some time to get used to.
We spent 5 days here and loved the location, the quiet, kayaking, fishing and the loons and bald eagles. We did have some concerns with the care and cleanliness of the property. We have rented many cottages and homes over the years and felt this cottage was a bit neglected. We do appreciated having been able to spend a relaxing weekend enjoying a birthday and a wedding in the Monmouth/Manchester area.
Pleasant wooden house, kept clean. Comfortable living room. Beds were fine. The way down to the lake was a little steep for us over-60's but the owners are planning to make that easier to go down shortly. The lake is open and perfect for skiing and water sports. Screen porch is very large. Owners were very prompt, pleasant and responsive to questions and very helpful while we were there with linens and towel laundry, removing our trash, and more. Sunset view from the dock. Altogether pleasant.
Not bad. Not great. I think we were the first tenants of the season because no one had swept or cleaned. Very musty. Lotsa cobwebs. Tough swimming because of rocky bottom. Very steep path to water. Okay place just not worth what we paid. 3 stars.
My family (partner, 3yo, and dog) and I had a great time. The week started out hot so we spent a lot of time in the pond swimming and looking around in the water. We enjoyed doing lots of local things like a hike, thrifting, and checking out the local eateries. The location of the house was great, you can get to a grocery store in 10 minutes but the house itself was semiprivate. By the looks of the pictures I thought we wouldnât see another house but the house is nestled between two other homes, though a good distance from one another. I only bring this up because my dog is a little crazy around new people but we didnât see anyone during the week. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend.
They say "a picture is worth a thousand words", but in this case a few extra words would have helped us. My husband is elderly. Not handicapped but no longer as steady on his feet as when he was younger. Unfortunately the rough terrain was an obstacle to his enjoyment of the property. It was not evident from the photos on VRBO that the property is fairly steep down to the water ( * at the time we were researching - owner may have added better pics and description since then) For most folks, no problem. But for us this cabin would not have been our first choice had we known.
The cabin itself is very nicely laid out with plenty of room inside. The area is quiet and the lake is lovely. This area of Maine offers plenty to do with it's proximity to theater in Monmouth and and nightlife in Augusta.
Overall we still had a wonderful stay.
The Karp family has summered in Maine since 1958 and on Wilson Pond since 1971. We love Maine in all its four seasons of glory and are happy to share our home with you.
