We spent Bates Graduation weekend at Sailors Rest. Paul and Kevin were fabulous hosts and Sailors Rest was the perfect port in the bittersweet graduation storm. I do hope weâll be back.
Our oldest child moved to Maine and this was our first chance to visit. This property was perfect for us because it was so close to him. We certainly didn't want to cram into his studio apartment! He appreciated the home cooked meals he got and we had fun just hanging out as a family.
This was a great place to spend the weekend. Spent the day out on the ice and came in to a shower that was very hot and had great pressure. The place was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Would love to stay here again at some point.
This was a great spot for our group to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday! We enjoyed the location and everything was comfortable. Lake sunsets were gorgeous đ
We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful location while visiting our son at Bates. The house was as described with everything you could possibly need; very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed walking down to the dock with our coffee in the morning and relaxing around the fire pit with our wine in the evening. Communications with the host were great!
My second awesome experience at Sailors Rest. Paul is a great host and will help you with whatever you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Great place to getaway, fish, and relax with the whole family !
We very much enjoyed Sailor's Rest. It was perfect for our three generation family. Paul and Kevin were great hosts, very accommodating and checked in with me by text throughout the stay to make sure all our needs were met. I would recommend Sailor's Rest to anyone looking for a nice getaway by a lake!
Thank you Paul and Kevin!
We had a lovely time here over the weekend for a last minute getaway out of the city. The property was clean and the hosts were very considerate, and put out towels and the lake toys for us! The property is definitely steep, so be mindful if you have young kids or older family. Overall, an easy and beautiful stay.
Fun, relaxing stay. Enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over the lake and the lovely surrounding area on long walks with our dog. Place was clean with a nice kitchen were we often cooked meals. Good communication with host. Good internet allowed us to work remotely at times. Would highly recomend.
We very much enjoyed our stay in Paulâs guesthouse. It was roomy and comfortable. Plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. The area is quiet and naturally beautiful.
We had a peaceful stay at the guesthouse. The guesthouse is conducive to both a family get away or a ladies weekend away! Paul was also available to answer any questions. We will be back!
We stayed a month in this lovely, quiet home where our hosts were very available by text but never interfered with our privacy. Our dog loved his 2-3 daily swims in the lake. The only real negative for us was we felt we couldnât (& never did) swim ourselves or other thing to be alert to: the lake has lots of algae in it.
We came here with a large contingent, and even though the house has only two bedrooms, don't let that fool you. It is quite roomy, and we easily slept seven people in the house. The views from the upstairs bedroom windows and balcony are wonderful. The owners are in their own house on site, are there when you need them, but give you your privacy as well. Lovely place to stay. I would recommend it to others enthusiastically.
I can't explain the ease and how helpful the host was. We were traveling from a long distance for this. The host was helpful with late check in. The house was well maintained and clean everywhere. You get everything you need. The wifi is also fast. I wish they did provide some body wash and some extra stuff. No complaints at all. It was a memorable stay
We really enjoyed this home which is close to Lewiston but in a secluded and peaceful place. The home is very clean, well stocked (although we did not cook), and private. Paul was very responsive and a great host! We would highly recommend booking here if available. Thank you Paul!
House had plenty of room for four of us. Extra large bedroom space on second floor along with first floor bedroom. Very clean. Very quiet with dirt road off main road down to the house by the pond. Close enough to Portland, Freeport, and Lewiston to provide options for things tp do. Weather was on the rainy side during our weekend stay but still had an enjoyable relaxing weekend. Hosts Paul and Kevin made arrival and departue easy. Great communication.
We had an unfortunate reason for our stay (loss of a family member), but we were very pleased with the large indoor space on this beautiful piece of land! The home comfortably slept 7 (5 adults, 2 children) and had everything we needed for our short stay. The serene outdoor area and dock provided a peaceful space by the water to clear our head after an emotional day, and catch some sun rays.
One note of caution, if arriving after sunset, the road and driveway to the property are a bit difficult to locate in the dark. Even with that, we plan to return for a longer stay to enjoy the rest of the amenities and area.
The host was a great communicator and the house was exactly as described.
The location is terrific in that it has easy lake access, off a dirt road away from any traffic, yet easy to get to local hiking trails and stores.
The house had everything we could have asked for to either remain connected to the outside world (good wireless) or disconnect from the outside world (multiple decks without chairs on each).
The host did a great job communicating and answering any questions.
We would absolutely recommend this as a place to stay.
Our family of 3 and our 3 dogs spent some time at this lovely house in Wales while we visited a grandson in Lisbon Maine.
Our host was very accommodating and the home was just what we needed. This immaculately kept home is spacious and there are 2 decks to sit out on to enjoy the view. Waking up in the huge master suite and opening the shades to look out upon the lake was a great way to start our day. Our dogs loved running around in the woods and getting down to the pier.
Would love to go here in swimming weather as there are boats available and , of course, a swim in the lake!
We had a great time at Paulâs house. He was beyond helpful and accommodating to us, allowing us to stay later than anticipated. He also stocked the house with some goodies for our arrival. Above and beyond. Only note is that for those with mobility issues, there are steps to get in the front door and the hill to the lake is very steep so not useable for anyone who canât navigate hills.
Our family had to stay in the area because of estate issues of our late Mom. We chose this location because we just didn't want to be cooped up in a hotel. This place really rocked!!! We all felt so relaxed and we utilized the huge kitchen that was equipped with everything we needed to make our meals. The decks off the back of the living room and the master bedroom are wonderful. Experiencing the autumn leaf change in this home should be just stunning! Our host was very attentive to our needs and requests. We will be back!
We spent two nights with our family here for our sonâs graduation from Bates College. Our communications with the owner were clear, timely, and helpful. The house is exactly as described in the listing and immaculately clean and the beds are quite comfortable.
The kitchen is more than functional - we were able to make a celebratory meal for 11 without difficulty. We didnât spend a lot of time on property with all of the events to attend, but we did go down to the lake briefly on a very hot afternoon, and the water was gloriously refreshing! We also loved listening to the loons calling at night.
All in all this is a beautiful spot and the owner was an absolute pleasure to work with - you should definitely go!
A true Mainer here who loves to be able to give guests a guesthouse that is just like home yet out of the craziness of the city but close to many of Maineâs historic shopping such as LL Bean, amazing local restaurants and hikes and trails.
