Highly recommended!
The house is located at the edge of the heart of the great Tuscan wine district, close to the charming town of Bolgheri. In a small coastal Italian vacation spot with its own 'connecting' town up in the hillside, just as charming. The beach is a stone throw away, yet not all perfect for small children because of the way the shore suddenly drops a bit after a few metres. But there are plenty of other superb options close by, or by car. A car is generally advised, if you have small children in your family, otherwise it seems like people enjoy using their bikes in the area. Marina di Castagneto Carducci is a holiday & beach town, mostly populated with Italians, not too big, not too large. And a splendid theme park is situated beneath shadowy trees that are engulfing the village itself. Everyday shopping options are plenty in the nearby town Donoratico and Marina di Castagneto Carducci also has a small grocery store.
We rented one of the larger apartments in the lovely house. We had our own car entrance, and a piece of garden, that although was shared with the other tenants, had a good feeling of privacy. A big plus was the large table with a huge sunshade just outside our entrance that we used quite a lot during the hot hours. In the garden, you'll find your own grill, a water hose and a clothesline. The apartment has all the stuff you need, from washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, TV, Wi-fi etcetera and it is spacey. You'd probably spend the most of your time outside or away from it anyway, visiting cities or beaches nearby (and again, a car here is a big plus). A few stairs lead up to two large bedrooms and a nice bathroom with bidet. The place was spotless when we arrived, and the house and its garden is taken excellent care off in general. Don't be alarmed if the caretakers are wandering around the property sometimes (not in the apartment though), making sure all is in good order.
And speaking of caretakers, we were well received, everyone very pleasant, helpful and friendly and Emilio was always on top of every issue that occurred (and there were only a few, minor ones).
All in all a great stay and a great place.
