It is located in a very quiet location but at the same time close to the town centre max 300 mt where you can find supermarkets, restaurants, bars, ATMs, pharmacy, bus stop and boats, kite and wind surfing schools that also rent sailboats and sup .
It is located on the Veronese shore, a locality on the shores of Lake Garda that is known for its history and for the many small beauties to be seen among art and nature. This area overlooks the imposing Monte Baldo, close to San Zeno di Montagna and Torri del Benaco. A unique territory that has a peculiarity compared to many other Garda municipalities: it is divided into many contrade (districts)! The districts of BrenzoneThe petroglyphsThe hamlets and castles of BrenzoneThe churches of BrenzoneWhat to see going down to the shoreThe districts of BrenzoneThe territory includes many hamlets and districts including Castello, Castelletto, Marniga, Magugnano, Porto and Assenza, as well as several small villages scattered along the mountain slopes such as Sommavilla, Biasa, Marniga, Prada - which has facilities for winter tourism. All the hamlets are arranged to create the central village, which has remained a kind of ancient Garda hamlet. Colourful houses, reminiscent of the Venetian lagoon, alternate with narrow streets, towers and walls, small harbours and panoramic terraces. Its 'Venetian' vocation is due to its history: Brenzone, like many of the towns along the Veronese coastline, was a territory of the Venetian Republic, which represented a golden age for this town. The petroglyphs The area was, however, inhabited by primitive peoples before the Romans and in fact rock graffiti from the 2nd millennium BC can still be seen today. These are very ancient and important graffiti, one composition in particular shows axes and daggers, defined according to prehistoric figurative art. Today the stone, or rather called 'Pietra di Castelletto', with these engravings can be seen in the atrium of the municipality of Brenzone.Villages and castles of BrenzoneBrenzone originated as a crossroads and passageway that was a source of discord; over the centuries a number of buildings were erected for defensive purposes: the so-called Castles of Brenzone. During periods subject to invasions by various conquering enemies, the indigenous populations took refuge there for their own protection. Only the remains of the four main castles remain, including Castel Brenzone, and the Rocca di Biasa, in Castelletto. This structure opened up after many small alleyways, defending the area for centuries, although only a few remains remain today since Frederick Barbarossa ordered its destruction in 1158. Borgo Castello di Campo, one of the most unique in the area Among the things to see in Brenzone is the castle village of Campo, located inland on the hills. One of the most beautiful villages in Italy, it cannot be reached by car and is therefore still intact in its beauty. Here you can visit the small church of San Pietro in Vincoli, which houses frescoes from the 13th-14th centuries, particular for the Byzantine influence in their form. Today Campo is inhabited by very few people, and many call it a fascinating ghost town! Another point of interest is the hamlet of Sommavilla, which, as its name suggests, is the highest and lies at the foot of Monte Baldo. Perfect for starting excursions in the midst of nature.Brenzone's churchesIn the various villages there are still intact religious buildings of medieval and renaissance origin, which reserve unique atmospheres and even some artistic gems inside. The oldest is in Castelletto, the San Zen de l'oselet, a 12th-century building that was built on part of an earlier Roman villa, and is now a cemetery church. Inside are 13th-century frescoes depicting scenes from the life of St John (Zen) and the importance of baptism. The famous church of San Zen de l'solet in Castelletto di Brenzone Another sacred medieval site on this side of Lake Garda is the Church of San Nicola in Assenza (11th-12th century), with frescoed interior walls from the late 13th and 14th centuries. In the Biaza district stands the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, where there are also frescoes from the 14th century - evidently this must have been a vital period for this area, given the commissions to the painters of the time, which have survived intact. reserve both free-access areas and establishments ideal for sports enthusiasts or those who want to take the children to the lake. Brenzone also juts out over the lake in a beautiful position opposite the islet of Trimelone, which alone is worth an excursion even if it is not too close. How so? Fortified in the 10th century, during the Hungarian invasions, the islet has been used over the centuries as a storehouse for weapons and war material, in fact you cannot go near it for fear of possible explosions.
