Summary:
Morning fog lifts to reveal blue Pacific horizons from this in-town Gualala home backed by a seasonal creek. A queen bedroom plus a queen loft sleep 4, with a gas fireplace, two decks, and a gas grill for afternoon barbecues. Walk half a mile to Trinks Cafe and Surf Market; Cooks Beach is under two miles north.
The Space:
A walkable, in-town location meets a tranquil country setting at this inviting Gualala home, an escape with blue-water views of the Pacific Ocean. In this secluded coastal town on the rugged Northern California coast, you'll enjoy a quiet piece of property surrounded by wind-blown cypress and lush vegetation, backing up to a seasonal creek.
The interior makes generous use of natural wood, including beamed ceilings, richly hued walls, and a staircase hand-crafted in the Craftsman style.
When the sun is shining on the coast, walk to the bluff at Robinson Gulch, light the gas grill for an afternoon barbecue, or simply relax in the fresh air in the yard or on one of the two decks with seasonal views of the creek. And when the fog rolls in, retreat indoors to toss the provided beach towels in the washer/dryer, warm up by the gas fireplace, and watch a DVD or stream a favorite on the Smart TV. Glennen Beach and Cooks Beach are both less than two miles north, and half a mile puts you in the heart of town — Four-Eyed Frog Books, Trinks Cafe, and Surf Market with its weekend barbecues. For an easy outing, drive three miles north to Anchor Bay's small beach, or continue up the coast to the Point Arena Lighthouse for one of the best sunset views on this stretch of Highway 1.

Keep your eyes on the horizon from December to April -- gray whales migrate just offshore, and this property has a front-row seat. Visit in spring for wildflower season -- the hills above Gualala and the river trails burst with lupine and California poppies. June through September brings the warmest weather. Morning fog is part of the charm -- it usually clears to reveal blue skies.
Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.
