The Pros:The location is convenientâwithin easy walking distance to downtown and situated along a free bus line. The owner was responsive, communicative, and friendly throughout the stay. The Cons:Unfortunately, the property appears to have been neglected. It has a musty odor, is in need of a thorough deep cleaning, and would benefit from some remodeling. The shower handle/faucet was loose and difficult to adjust to a comfortable temperature, likely requiring replacement. There were a noticeable number of bugs both inside and outside the home, and we found animal droppings on the interior kitchen window sill. Additionally, the bed was not a queen as advertised and was quite uncomfortable.Overall, I would not consider staying here again unless significant improvements are made.
This cottage was a great place to stay while visiting Walla Walla. Very clean and welcoming, with a very comfortable bed and nicely appointed living area. The bathroom is tight (one person only) and the shower is configured for someone who is 6'5" but the water pressure was great and no issues with hot water between two people. The neighborhood was nice to walk around with the dogs and it would have been very easy to go into DT Walla Walla at any time (so if you partake at the tasting rooms and don't want to risk driving - stay here!). The only piece of feedback would be better instructions on the AC system. We could not get it to work -- it wasn't unbearable but it would have been more comfortable sleeping if we could have gotten it to function. Would stay here again.
Excellent location for our needs, very quiet, needs a bit more cleaning in corners, needs updating on signage and TLC overall. Too bad the large washing machine/dryer takes up so much space which would otherwise be such a nice breakfast nook. We were appreciative of the attentive host who left the door unlocked and the light on due to our late arrival. Very thoughtful.
location was great. the house was clean except for shower. nice to have a new W/D.
There was a tiny amount of dish soap, no body wash for shower, kitchen not well equipped if you plan on cooking.
sheets were threadbare with holes.
damp smelly towels found in washer.
From reading reviews, seems like upkeep is not what it used to be.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this property. It seems to have been neglected for a while. The front room is fine, but the bedroom and bathroom are cramped, not functional, and dilapidated. This space needs a serious remodel before it is rented again.
We have stayed at this property several times and have enjoyed it every time. This was an extended stay to care for our daughter after surgery. Easy walk to Whitman campus and Pioneer Park. Walked everywhere and enjoyed exploring the neighborhoods. Very fast internet allowed me to work remotely with no issues. Eldon is very responsive and a pleasure to work with. He takes good care of both the house and his renters. My dog asked if we could stash the big comfy dog bed in the car when we left, but I had to say no! Other reviews have mentioned the shower size. Compared to our 25â Sprinter based motorhome, this one is downright spacious. The heater in the bathroom made it toasty for showering. I truly felt right at home. It was hard to leave! I would stay here any time.
Adelineâs Cottage is a quite small house near downtown Walla Walla. It was fine for us, a couple with one dog. It is nothing fancy, doesnât have a dishwasher, limited cooking supplies if you are like us and cook some at where you stay, and no body wash in the shower, which is a first for us at a VRBO. It is in a nice neighborhood, half a mile from downtown Walla Walla, The bed was comfortable, it has air conditioning, and is close to Whitman College and a couple of parks if you travel with a dog. Eldon was good at communicating with us.
Cute cottage in lovely neighborhood just two blocks from Pioneer Park. Perfect for walking dog. Comfy, clean, and air conditioning, which was needed as it was hot. My only disappointment was the wifi never connected though I tried password and multiple options several times. Streaming was fine.
The cottage is a perfect location for visiting Walla Walla. You can easily walk (or bike) downtown or to the beautiful Pioneer Park. It is an economical choice, but not idyllic.
Eldon communicated well and left the door unlocked and the keys in the house. He was also responsive when I called with a question. It would be helpful to have some info on the split units in the home and also how to operate the tv (no cable).
The pictures are clearly not current as the property is not nearly as neat and tidy as shown.
It is fairly clean. The bed is comfortable and the linens fresh.
The bathroom is snug, but the main issue (as others have commented) is that the shower control barely works (the screw almost came out of the handle) and you could easily scald yourself. The kitchen faucet is so loose that it spins around and the sprayer hangs out. The rugs curl at the edges and create tripping hazards.
Many have been perfectly happy staying here, everyone has their own tolerance levels, but I feel that future renters should be aware of the potential downsides.
Loved the location for walking and bike riding to downtown and Pioneer Park. The cottage is small but had the essentials we needed and the bed was comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay in this cute little cottage. It was spotlessly clean and you canât beat the location. Walking distance to beautiful Pioneer Park and a just three minute drive to the buzzing downtown area.
Great place to stay for wine trips to Walla Walla. 15-20 min walk to downtown. Whitman college is 2 or 3 min away. Pioneer Park closeby which is great for humans or your fur babies. Our 2nd time here and loved it just as much as the first time.
beware! inaccurate representation of this property non-refundable deposit for a reason!
I am a frequent VRBO-er and am super familiar with the Walla Walla area. We were coming to town for a holiday weekend and booked this property months in advance, it's smaller and less expensive than we usually book since it was just 2 of us traveling and we were bringing our pup. We have reached out to the host for a partial refund and he has been unresponsive so I felt it was best to let everyone know that this property IS NOT AS IT SHOWS on VRBO. --The place smells musty with an overlying fragrant deodorizer.
The shower doesn't work AT ALL- my husband had to use a butter knife to tighten a screw to turn on the showered and it sprayed all over but down so I was able to wash my hair but my body stayed dry.
The kitchen faucet is loose and barely hanging. None of the appliances seem new as posted.
The bed is NOT a queen and was sagging in the middle
The couch was ancient and not in a cool antique way- I felt uncomfortable sitting on it (when was it cleaned last)
The outdoor space is basically in the alley.
The siding of the house is 2 different colors.
We stayed one night trying to make the best of it and after the shower experience we decided to leave. We reached out to him for a partial refund and he has ghosted us.
My mistake for booking a property and didn't notice it was non-refundable- there is definitely a reason for this!
Adeline's Cottage is a charming little place walking distance to town, the college, and Pioneer Park. You feel like you're stepping back in time with the vintage decor. Eldon was a friendly and attentive host, made sure we were comfortable and that the AC was on when the temps got hot. The amenities were basic, but sufficient for our short stay. I will note that the shower is a bit tight! And I'm on the petite side. It would also benefit from an updated showerhead.
Overall we enjoyed our stay! Thanks Eldon!
Yes itâs inexpensive for the town so itâs not elegant but itâs a nice space with good light and a good bed. Great location! Close to everything especially pickleball
Retired communication worker. Move here from Nebraska when I was 5 years old. Raised family and grandchildren in local area. Have 3 grown children with 4 grandchildren, no great grandchildren but high hopes.
This little home is in embodiment of a dream never realized. Forced from the farm in Nebraska during the dust bowl of the 30's and 40's. Adeline Otis and her husband Pearley traveled and began a new life in Walla Walla. Adeline was a school teacher and Pearley found work where ever he could while making a habit of buying small houses to rent to GI's and their families while they were based in Walla Walla. This house was special as it was Adeline's dream retirement home. Small enough for easy house keeping with a yard just the right size for them to maintain, but to her it was the ideal place because it set across the street from her Nazarene church. Unfortunately Adeline passed before she had the opportunity to enjoy herself in this sweet little cottage. Remaining in the family so long ago it has served a need to house individuals and couples for decades. Today Adeline's lineage has decided to re-purpose her small dream abode into something people from far and wide can enjoy. The location is close to everything one would want to visit. From Whitman College to downtown Walla Walla, to East gate and the airport. We hope you enjoy your stay at Adeline's cottage
