Mermaid Manor - Hot Tub & Steps to the Beach

Summary:

Mermaid Manor

Built in 1884 and thoughtfully remodeled in 2016, this historical Fort Bragg home perfectly blends the comforts of modern life with the Victorian charm of the old Northern California Coast. This home is located on the iconic California Highway 1, directly adjacent to MacKerricher State Park and a three-minute walk from the ocean beach.



The Space:

This beautiful landmark home sits mere steps from the beach at MacKerricher State Park, offering four lovely bedrooms (including two main bedroom suites), and an additional bedroom located in the detached studio with a tub/shower combo an expansive deck with a private gas grill, Smart TVs in each room, and a renovated kitchen with custom cabinetry reclaimed from the redwood that adorned the original house.



Things to know: The 5th bedroom is located in the studio which is detached from the main home, behind the main home.



Free WiFi, Full kitchen (with a dishwasher, stainless steel appliances, custom cabinets, and a Keurig), and Netflix streaming available (guests must use their own accounts).



The main floor of the house has wide hallways and can accommodate a wheelchair and the main bedroom's bathroom has a roll-in shower with grab bars.

There is a ramp up the back deck to enter the house



The Neighborhood:

The heart of downtown Fort Bragg is a three-mile drive south, allowing you to easily reach an assortment of wonderful restaurants, the North Coast Brewing Taproom, the Skunk Train, and the colorful shores of Glass Beach. Book a horseback ride on the beach with Ricochet Ridge Ranch right across the street

Great property and great location. We loved being able to walk to the beach and to town every day. The house was amazing and the hot tub and fire pit were bonuses. The little store almost next door was a nice surprise to be able grab a few things we forgot!

Great house close to the beach

We had a really great time! The house is really close to MacKerricher state park. The house was really nice and beds were comfy. Only negative was that there were a lot of ants. But I would stay here again!

Wonderful

Stayed here for 5 days with our kids, 7 of us total, plenty of space. This was a beautiful home with great amenities. We had an issue with the alarm for part of our stay, but had great communication with management and were graciously compensated for the inconvenience. We'd definitely stay here again!

This is our yearly girls trip to the coast. Our usual house was not available at the last minute and this home saved the day! Plenty of space and very well equipped. We had a wonderful time!

Perfect for a Mom's getaway

All six Mom's I brought here for a weekend away from the kiddos LOVED this house. It is very well situated in the area, it has the best kitchen supplies of any house I have ever rented, and it has a great table and perfect gathering spaces inside and out. We were also very pleased by the amazing decor of Mermaid Manor. Thank you for renting us this home.

It was an old house but the inside was renovated beautifully. Glass beach was quite a disappointment though. The rest of the coastline was scenic and beautiful.

Wonderful trip

We really enjoyed this house. It was well stocked, soaps, towels, etc. couldn’t find a washcloth for the kitchen, but paper towels did the trick along with the sponge and dish towel. Cooking here was awesome, plenty of kitchen supplies.no heat nor air conditioning but we really didn’t need it. Will look forward to coming back.

Lovely place

I had a really challenging time finding it as the address is not where Google maps says it is. Just FYI it is two houses south of the Cleone grocery store not near the Cleone Gardens where Google maps says it is. With that said, once we got there we had a lovely time. It’s a beautiful property and a great location.

Lovely Beach Home!

This house is so charming and beautifully remodeled. The kitchen is fully stocked with every tool we needed for cooking. We walked to the beach, approx 1/2 mile or so. The nearby Mexican restaurant was also convenient. We wished we could have stayed longer in this sweet home. Things you may want to be aware of: The lock boxes for the keys are difficult to use, or at least they were for us. There are other people living on the property in a separate home. There is no privacy in the backyard. This was not an issue for us but might be for others. The only low rating was for Vacasa, which I found to be completely unresponsive to my emailed questions. I did appreciate their timely and thorough text reminders.

Delightful house

This house is full of cozy amenities, creativity, and charm. There is a very nice, sheltered deck area that we weren't able to use, due to weather, but it would be a big asset if it weren't raining. The house easily accommodated 5 adults and two children. Every surface is new inside - it must have been gutted before the remodel. We love the fact that beautiful redwood from the original interior was refashioned into gorgeous cabinetry. The description on VRBO stated that the house was a 3 minute walk from the beach. That isn't accurate - at least not for our family. It seemed like the beach was about a mile away. The beach itself, in that spot, wasn't kid friendly. The location of the house, between a Mexican restaurant and little market was very convenient. The hot tub was greatly enjoyed. There is a bathtub in the house which isn't in any of the photos. The beds are comfortable. We had a great time at Mermaid Manor!

There were a few issues with amenities. No water pressure in kitchen or master shower downstairs, microwave door is broke & hard to keep closed, there were rat droppings in the dresser of the master downstairs, no paper towels, the half bath toilet was dirty, and the house was full of flies with no fly swatter.
