Less than a minute's walk to the beach, Pane Makai is spacious, air conditioned, and can sleep up to 24 people! Located in sunny Poipu, Pane Makai and is the perfect gathering place for groups, large families, friends, and loved ones.



This 6,000 square foot home is split into two identical suites. The “Turtle” and “Dolphin” suites can each accommodate 12 adults, with private living areas, and kitchens that can seat 12.

- Located in Poipu (South Shore).

- Large Hawaiian-style beach house, split into two identical apartments (“Dolphin” and “Turtle”).

This house is incredible. It served our needs beyond measure. The host was very responsive and kind. We even had an AC issue that they quickly resolved to our satisfaction. It is very close to the beach where we routinely saw seals and turtles and where we waded in the water and sunbathed. I would absolutely use this Host and this location again.

The setup was perfect for hosting both families for the wedding couple. The decks facing the ocean were nice as well as the lawn, picnic tables and grills. Easy walk to the beach and restaurant.

The dolphin and turtle suites worked perfectly for hosting us, our kids, and our grandkids. They could walk to Poipu Beach, Brennecke's, and there were so many nearby places to go. The property was the perfect size for our large group.

Beautiful amazing stay!

We loved staying at this property!! It was even bigger than it looked in the photos and had additional pull out trundle beds that came in handy. We used both sides for our wedding party to stay during our wedding weekend and it was fantastic. It's steps away from the beach and having access to the Poipu athletic club a short walk away was perfect.

We loved this property........had a large group so had both units. They were very clean and updated......lovely units. Access between units was a few step walk across a deck. Plenty of room/beds for our family of 16. We loved having easy access to the beach ....walking distance to surf shop, bakery and even other shopping within a mile.Highly recommend this property and the host and would absolutely stay here again.

It was exactly as described. Rented both condos and had plenty of room for all 16 of us. Had a few minor problems the first day that were unavoidable and were addressed immediately. Plenty of parking for all of our vehicles which we didn't need to use because it was a very short walk to the beach. Would recommend this property for a worry free vacation.

3.5 / 5 — Incredible location, but half the house was unbearably hot We rented both halves of this house for a family trip of 20, and the experience was genuinely split down the middle. What we loved: - Location is unbeatable. A tiny walk to the beach with awesome views. - Beach chairs and umbrellas provided — a huge perk that saved us hauling gear and made every beach day easier. - Beds were fantastic. Everyone slept well (on the cool side, at least). - Laundry setup was great for keeping up with swim gear and towels after long ocean days. - Surprisingly quiet despite being right next to a bar. Never heard a thing. What needs work: - The AC situation on one side of the house was rough. Most of the units were broken, and with the Hawaiian sun beating on that side all afternoon plus the tropical humidity, it felt like sleeping a notch below a volcano. Multiple fans barely took the edge off. - The host said they "fixed" it, but it never really improved. They brought in window AC units to compensate, but there weren't enough of them and they couldn't keep up. - Toilet paper was rationed in a way that felt a little early-2020. With 20 people, a more generous supply would go a long way. - One unit smelled strongly of weed for the first half of our stay. - The trees you park under are very messy — expect sap, debris, or worse on your rental. Bottom line: If the AC worked properly on both sides, this would easily be a 4.5 star stay.

It’s always wonderful to know those elements helped enhance your family’s stay. We’re sorry to hear that the AC issues on one side of the home impacted your comfort. One of the wall-mounted units experienced an issue, so we brought in portable AC units to help cool the space. We understand that, especially with larger groups and warm conditions, this still may not have fully met expectations, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. It's also worth noting that we very generously compensated this guest, which was not included in her review. Regarding supplies, we do provide starter amenities, including toilet paper, and for this five-night stay we provided 24 brand-new rolls of toilet paper, which is very generous in our opinion. It would have also been great to have known about a strong marijuana smell when you arrived, instead of reading that in your review. We have not had feedback like that before, and that's something that we take very seriously. You may have smelled that from a neighboring property or person, but our properties are clean and do not smell like marijuana. Great location!

The location is fantastic with an easy walk to Poipu beach and places to eat. It was slightly frustrating that the kitchen didn't even have salt and pepper. It would have been nice to have some basic spices. The kitchen sink leaked and our upstairs AC didn't work. The fix for that was super slow (two very warm and humid nights).

Family Gathering

There were 16 of us, using both sides of the unit. What a great place for a large family gathering! Sleeping arrangements worked great. Having 2 kitchens made meals easier. We had incorrect house codes upon arrival, but I called and they took care of it immediately. One of the dishwashers wasn't working, but when I contacted them after hours they responded immediately and had it fixed the next day. Not everything was perfect, but the customer service we received from Kauai Exclusive was outstanding. We'd definitely stay there again.

Great trip

We loved the location of the house, the easy access to walk to the beach was fantastic! We rented both sides of the house for our large group and it worked well. The layout is definitely a bit funky in the upstairs with sliding doors & no closets, but it was nothing that impacted our stay. The house was very clean when we checked in, however there was some trash around the outside of the house. Nothing terrible, but it could have been picked up. Our codes to get in the house did not work so I had to call to get them reset which took several tries. They were very helpful, but it was frustrating for a group of 14 people to be waiting in the rain to get inside after a long day of travel. Overall we had a great time & would stay at this house again.

A Beautiful Spot!

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had the pleasure of staying a week at 'The Dolphin' in Poipu. The facilities were fantastic and very comfortable, although there were a few issues with some of the kitchen appliances. Even though the suite is right next door to a bar/restaurant the noise level was usually quieted after 8:00pm making relaxation possible and sitting out on the deck watching the ocean was lovely. The fact that we had a very short walk to the great beach at Poipu was also greatly appreciated the evening that there was a tsunami we were outside of the area that had to evacuate! We also appreciated having a sheltered space for our rental car and knowing that no matter how crowded the beach became that we always had a private spot to park. We look forward to returning again in the future and will certainly book again.

House interior needs renovation.

Before we went into the house we noticed a broken glass pane on one of the windows. The other windows badly needed cleaning. The flooring in the Turtle side had gaps between the artificle wood pieces with some pieces loose. The flooring near the kitchen sink and bath tub had swollen and was deteriorating. Upstairs ceiling fan did not work. Kitchen table top worn and chairs bindings broken and missing. Bottom of Balcony vertical support post loose. I have photos of some of these problems.Now for the good items. The location of the House is very convient to the beach and the size was also very large and roomy. The staff promply brought us replenishment paper products.

Aloha Gary, Thank you for being our guest and for taking the time to share your feedback. Please allow us to speak to a few things mentioned in this review. A rock broke the glass pane on the house's exterior; the replacement glass was immediately ordered and will be replaced in the next couple of weeks. For reference, today is 1/20/25. It's also worth noting that a professional window cleaning company cleans the windows and screens every three months. This guest was very eager to share his findings and offer his feedback. His family thanked us when we met with them in person and apologized as he messaged us and reached out with requests continually during their stay. We explained that we only provide a starter set of paper products and amenities, but this guest seemed to have continual issues and requests. Ultimately, we did our best to be responsive and helpful, and we will share all of these guests' feedback with the property owner. Mahalo, Kauai Exclusive Management

Great for our family of 14. We rented both Turtle & Dolphin sides. We did not use the bunk bed rooms. We liked the AC, but wished there had been ways to open the windows when not using the AC. No screens on the windows. Washers & dryers were fine. Laundry rooms should have drying racks. Upstairs bedrooms had no closets, but plenty of drawers. We found hangers in laundry room, but no place to hang anything. No hooks on back of doors in upstairs bedrooms or bathrooms. We went back & forth between units quite a bit to eat meals. Loved that 4 bedrooms on each side had king size beds.

Location, Location, Location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: You can not beat the location of this property! It's a 2 minute walk to Kalapaki Joe's, a 4 minute walk to the beach, and a 6 minute walk to Brenneke's. Located on the south side of the island, it's convenient to drive to any point of interest or excursion. The place is huge with plentry of storage and places to hang out. Our group was just two couples and we each got our own floor, but larger groups would be easily accommodated.

Overall good experience, some issues

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pros-Great location. Ran down to watch whales @Beach in 2 minutes. Oodles of space.Can’t beat price for location and amount of space. Amenities for the rental were phenomenal. All top-notch furniture. Provided extras-three grills, condiments, cooking oil, foil, saran wrap, spices, detergent and dryer sheets, beach toys, boogie boards. Service-quick response to requests always a yes, yet with some room for improvement. Called to express concern about front door lacking a deadbolt (young children running out). Person came out same day and installed a door latch. Even fulfilled baking powder request. Cons- Communication-number of instances of failed/bad communication. During reservation process, mentioned needing a high chair and late checkout. No high chair upon arrival and the late check out was not communicated to the cleaning crew. Service was good but too discrete. The high chair was brought over quickly but no call to us. Wife was “surprised” when someone came upstairs to use the bathroom. When we requested things, they would be brought over had to “discover” them. Facilities-One bathroom tub faucet was way too short. The water hit the edge of the tub rather than went into the tub and spilled everywhere. No closet or wardrobe for upstairs. Doorbell and house phone weren’t working. wireless went down twice. ran out of trash liners. Were missing utensils such as the BBQ tools, can opener (apparently all next door). Not enough bowls for cooking/serving. Overall experience was good. Genuine effort to go above and beyond by Kauai Exclusive really stood out. Would definitely stay again.

Great Family Getaway

Dolphin Suite Review

Fun times in Poipu!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We will do it again! Gotta say that from the start. Great house at a great location next to one of the best boogie board beaches on the Kauai. That was a BIG plus since it was an easy walk for the kids, which means me and my wife didn't have to drive them everywhere to keep them "entertained". The house is HUGE and our kids and their friends were "somewhere" upstairs or outside mostly leaving us to enjoy the downstairs until somebody got hungry. We all walked down to the beach park for our daily swim and to watch the turtles feed. The house was well stocked with everything from kitchen ware/appliances, dish and laundry soap, plenty of towels and even some spices. We could see the ocean from the upper deck and I slept outdoors under the stars there one night. Even saw a shooting star! We used the AC when we first got there but next day we opened the windows and let the nice breeze in for the remainder of our time. Very safe, secure location for kids to wander in. Kauai Exclusive has some other very nice properties but this one was sure great for big family fun. Josh was easy to work with. We will use them again when the time comes.
