Perfect location for our visit to the Mount Hood area. We had never explored that part of Oregon. We went to Timberline Lodge, Little Crater Lake, Government Camp, and Mount Hood Village. Perfect weekend!
We enjoyed our stay over the weekend! The house was cozy and had a great heater. The house is located in a very nice quiet area, its also close to everything which was super convenient. The owner of the property was very helpful and willing to answer any questions we had. Definitely make sure your car has AWD or 4WD or at least be prepared. I have a 2WD pickup and we almost couldn't make it up the street due to a little bit of ice/snow. Overall it was an awesome place.
This is a wonderful little cabin in the woods. Right from the beginning it was welcoming and warm. The lights were on for our late afternoon arrival, the heater had the home warm as well.
The cabin itself is cute and pleasant to stay in, with a cool deck overlooking the woods below.
There are trails leading away from the cabin into a very lush Northwest forest. Lots of fun to explore with the kids.
It is close to everything fun up on Mount Hood.
We would suggest this cabin to others and very well may book it again in the future!
Excellent cabin for 2. The stairs up to the bedroom are steep like others have said, and the driveway is also very steep. Cabin was clean, but not many towels provided. Grill on the deck worked great, plenty of pots and pans for cooking.
Very close to trails and the ranger station! Beautiful area.
This was a spacious, clean, well kept cabin, close to hiking trails in Mt Hood area, and just 1 mile from Zig Zag Ranger Station. Bedroom is up steep stairs, but also have pullout couch in living room on first level. We could not get our rented 4 cylinder car (wide tires, though) up the steep gravel driveway, and so had to park in spot below. This required hauling everything up and down a rather steep incline. There's a very nice large deck with views of surrounding woods. The noise from Rte 126 is ever present, which limited our time there.
There was a large t.v., and a gas fireplace, and gas grill outdoors. We didn't see directions for any of these and had to talk w/ owner about how to use t.v. They were helpful and patient about this. Many channels required previous subscription. We didn't realized this and didn't know why they didn't work. If you have netflix or amazon, bring your passwords etc. We didn't remember ours!
Owners left some area restaurant menus, which is helpful. Would also be helpful to have descriptive list of area resources, like laundry, medical, and where to buy groceries.
Had a great relaxing week at the cabin. Loved the cabin and the outdoor space. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely rent Hunchback Mt retreat.
What a great cabin! Perfect for a couple or a small family. Everything you could need. Close to town but still secluded. Close to Government Camp, Mirror Lake, and Timberline. Definitely will be back!
My family of four (two young daughters, 5 and 8) really enjoyed our stay here. It was a great location - easy to get to food and still within 15 mins of Skibowl or Timberline. The place was well equipped. It was pretty cold when we arrived but after turning up the thermostat the fire came to life and warmed us quickly - it stayed plenty warm after that even through the night. Our daughters slept on the fold out bed downstairs. The driveway is definitely steep as the described.
This place was the definition of cozy in all the good ways. We wished it was ours!
It was a nice clean cabin and we enjoyed our stay. I'd recommend it!
However, be aware that the driveway is very steep and gravel-ie. Our mid-sized Mazda sedan could only drive up a quarter of the way before the tires got stuck. Park on the bottom and you should be great.
After the stress of wedding planning, my husband and I just wanted a nice getaway in a cabin in the woods. This was the perfect house for that. We were close enough to Portland to day trip to the city and right by all sorts of hiking to have our alone time. Views were beautiful, coffee on the porch swing every morning was a highlight, and walking around the neighborhood was so peaceful.
The house had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked for us to do all our own cooking. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, etc close by.nIt was cold while we were there but the house was great at keeping warm so we were very comfortable.
One bit of advice, at first we didnt rent a 4 wheel drive but when we got to Portland we decided to upgrade. It was definitely worth the extra cost to easily get up and down the driveway. There is a parking spot at the bottom and you could take the stairs up but it was so much more convenient with the truck.
Tucked away in the woods, couldn't have asked for a more relaxing weekend. From the morning cup on the porch swing to playing backgammon by the fire at night - it was everything we hoped for and more.
We had a WONDERFUL stay!
When we arrived the cabin was so neat and clean. The layout is great - downstairs a kitchen, dining room, and living room. The bedroom is upstairs and has a neat feel with the roof a-line as the ceiling. We were able to lay our little one down and spend time downstairs without waking her up.
The kitchen was a highlight. I was particularly impressed by the fact that everything I needed for cooking was available. I don't think all vacation rentals have so many pots, pans, utensils, etc.
The living room was so comfortable! The thermostat is fancy and the cabin temperature was perfectly maintained. The TV is very large and the Roku made it easy to enjoy.
I was also so impressed by some of the little details. For example, there are subtle lights that are motion sensors and turn on when you enter the staircase or bathroom in the evening. A small touch, but so nice! Also, the cabin has a porch swing which I enjoyed my coffee on every morning. This truly is a little mountain oasis!
The owners were also a delight to work with. Traveling with a little one I had a few specific questions and when I reached out the owner was very prompt in responding with exactly the information I needed.
A couple of things to note - the staircase is steep. Not a problem (and again the lights are so helpful) but just something to note because I have a little one and thought others might be interested. Also, the ceilings are low. My husband is over 6 feet so he noticed it more than I did. It didn't bother me at all but at 5' 4'' I could reach up and touch the ceiling.
This trip was a breeze, which is a lot to say considering we have an 8.5 month old! We would like to thank the owners for their hospitality and hope to enjoy this retreat again sometime in the future!
Loved staying in this little cabin for the month of August. Worked remotely and the WiFi was great. We grilled and enjoyed the shaded deck and quiet peace, but easily got out to anythingâs wanted. We took advantage of all the nearby hiking, daily trail runs along the salmon river, and the hunchback mtn trail is walkable from the cabin. Nearby restaurants and gas stations plus Sandy has anything you need just 20 min away.
