This was the second year weâve stayed at this property and absolutely love it. Host is amazing and very accommodating. We said it last year and it still holds true. This will be our yearly Slidell/NOLA vacation rental for years to come!
Beautiful home with southern comfort. Enough room for everyone to move around comfortably. However, miniblinds in most of the rooms were broken or missing panels. Also, a gaping hole in wall. Out of concern of what may crawl in, we plugged the hole with a plastic soda bottle during our stay.purchased more towels and toilet paper to last us during stay. Overall, a beautiful home in need of attention. most of four couples to move about comfortably.
Needs attention to the details. In hind sight we realized this is a great location for larger groups. For the price of the property, we were expecting top notch accommodations and were disappointed based on those expectations.
We loved this property! It was very quiet with plenty of space for our family of 7. We loved the pool and fished on the property. It was a short distance to New Orleans.
Beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood!
Lots of space in the home with beautiful furnishings!
I asked for a Christmas tree and the property managers
decorated the home beautifully!
Great communication for the Property Manager !
We loved our stay!
40 minutes to the French Quarter and Airport.
The town of Slidell is full of great restaurants and any convenience you need. It was great being about 30-40 minutes from New Orleans and still being able to escape to our quiet retreat in the evenings. With nine adults, we had plenty of room to spread out, play board games and watch TV at this home.
The host was great. Easy communication. The house was ready earlier than the check in time, and he let me know in case I was waiting. Which, of course, he didnât have to do. Pool and yard maintenance is well done, especially considering the size of the yard. We came to visit nearby family, so weâll plan to stay here again.
Even with a problem, out of everyoneâs control, it was taken care of quickly and professionally. Not one person in the group was unsatisfied with the accommodations. I would highly recommend this house for anyone going too the area.
We booked this home for family to stay in during our wedding weekend. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Served our purposes perfectly! Plenty of space. The property is quiet and beautiful! We took family photos by many of the stunning old oaks and Iâm so excited to see the photos! Great for hosting a large family. Beds are comfortable and very inviting.
We had an absolute blast at this property. The kids LOVED the pool. The property was picturesque and calming. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of room to sleep and the playroom upstairs was an awesome addition! I actually got to relax and unwind while there. Itâs close to the city and made it easy to run grab a couple little things here and there.
A Louisiana native, I booked the property the weekend of my wedding at Palmetto's to a Massachusetts groom. We stayed in the house with his closest friends, and got permission to use the location for an extended family picnic on Sunday. My husband's people had minimal experience in Louisiana, and the grounds did not disappoint. They enjoyed walking the property, knocking some golf balls around, and relaxing by the pool under the stunning oaks. The only downsides were the exterior had some maintenance needs (one of the deck stairways had a completely loose board, so we used it to block that set of stairs) and the pool was quite dirty. We had a beautiful 80+ degree weekend and it would have been nice to have the pool in better shape. But, overall, the location was exactly the Louisiana experience I wanted my new and remote family to enjoy, and we had a lovely time. Everyone was completely delighted with the views and location.
The house was the perfect place to host my daughters bridal party and to use the day of the wedding to get ready. The grounds were beautiful for outside bridal pictures. We are very grateful that the owners allowed us to use the house for the wedding day by having make up people, hair dressers, photographers and videographers on the property. It was the perfect day for my daughter!
The house was as described. It was well stocked with kitchen items and linens. Clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay there and it felt like a âhomeâ rather than just a house away from home. Everything was in good working order and clean. I would definitely recommend this house to any family looking to get away and relax with the kiddos! Thanks, Suzy, for the use of your home and seeing to it that it is well stocked and clean!
Outstanding property with wonderful views of the countryside. There were some minor items which led to some inconvenience however: only 2 extra roles of toilet paper for a week visit with 7 people; there was liquid soap for bathroom sinks, there was no soap available for showers; only one large spoon for serving meals; no extra rolls of paper towels; no can opener; no Kleenex tissues; very few hangers in closets. There was no welcome or informational brochure to provide suggestions for local attractions or to disclose check-out procedures. There were mouse droppings in several places and several wasps would enter through windows in the kitchen dining area each day.
Numerous food items from previous visits were still onsite when we arrived. Several of the closets had clothing and other items - not sure if these had been accumulating from previous visitors or belonged to the owner. There were two pinball machines in the game room area but neither was functional. The video arcade game did function and was fun to play as was ping pong. One of the toilets would not fill but the property manager was diligent at getting a plumber to quickly repair the toilet reservoir.
This house was the filthiest house we have ever rented. We spent our first day cleaning everything. We took photos of black mold on AC vents, dust all over, grease and god only only knows what else on kitchen cupboards, silverware had food stick all over it, there was old food and crumbs stuck between the fridge and cabinets. The pool was green most of time, there was underwear in the side yard and down by the bayou. The beds on the main floor were absolutely uncomfortable. Over all you can tell the house and pool are NOT maintained properly for it to even be rented out to others. Such a shame because the property is beautiful and so is the house. Its just dirty and gross. I wish I could share the photos. I did send photos to the house manager after we left so they could see how bad it was. They wished I has told them when we got there but who wants to be bothered having a cleaning crew come with all our belongs and family? It was embarrassing enough for us to have invited our family there. We shouldn't even had to have dealt with it! I suggest finding another house to rent before staying here! Our family has stayed in Slidell before and there are WAY better places to stay!
I'm born and raised in New Orleans. I currently work in New Orleans but live on the North Shore of New Orleans. My family (three children) grew up in this house until Katrina took it away. 8 years later, the kids are all in college, we live in another house but have just finished bringing this one back. We can't forget the wonderful memories, the great times or the tremendous ambiance of this place. So we use it when we can. But you can use it when we can't!! Don't miss out on the Bayou Moon from the rear porch. It is truly special..
We bought it because it was on the navigable bayou (5 mins to Lake Pontchartrain by boat), we could water ski, boat, fish, crab or just enjoy the awesome wildlife and nature that the bayou affords. We bought it because of the 8 acres (which we cleared and now manicure), and the 30 plus oak trees with Spanish moss, some of which are over 200 years old. We've played many football, soccer, and baseball games in the large fields. Drive a golf ball or fly a kite! We named it Bayou Moon, because for all its splendor, at the end of the day when you sit on the back porch and look up - you see this awesome moon reflecting on the bayou! This area is a historic Creole settlement that dates back into the 1700's. So after we bought it, we got to know our wonderful neighbors, many of whom are ancestors of the original settlers. FYI before we could rebuild this house after Katrina, it needed to be raised and we just completed this 'raise and renovate' six months ago.
There are so many unique features of Bayou Moon. The nature, the wildlife, the expanse of the acreage, the oak trees, the privacy, the water frontage, the water sports, the fishing and crabbing, the boat dock, the swimming pool, the house with its incredible views, the porches and decks, the gameroom but most of all the Bayou Moon!
