Big Branch National Wildlife Refuge offers spectacular sunrises, sunsets and even glimpses of Bald Eagles. Lacombe Bayou offers beautiful waterways and a traditional Louisiana experience minutes away from Lake Pontchartrain.
There are two security cameras on the exterior of the house.
It was a wonderful stay. We came in for our son's wedding being held in nearby Mandeville, we arrived pre wedding to be sure to also get a little sight seeing in to the trip. The back deck offered amazing views and wildlife. Comfy beds, clean amenities, everything we needed was at hand. Hosts were a joy to work with.
My family and I had a pleasant stay. Lake area was relaxing. View of the lake was beautiful. Home felt clean and calming! Pictures on site are accurate to the location.
We felt at home!! The veiw is breathtaking and the nature just makes this place even more amazing. We will definitely be coming back to make more family memories.
Myself and friends came down from Canada for a week to explore the area and enjoy a relaxing place to stay. This was everything we were hoping for. This is a great place and in such a great location! Not one flaw, highly recommend.
The home was clean and cozy. Im one that has the horrible habit of falling asleep to the noise of a TV. There were no tvs in the bedrooms, but I used my tablet. Worked out fine.
The view of the lake was especially beautiful to wale up to. The restaurants suggested by host were delicious and good customer service. Nearly an hour drive to the city, but this made our getaway that more unique. We had the best of both worlds on this New Orleans vacay.
Camp David delivered!
Everything was very clean and comfortable. Outdoor area was amazing. We spent all day outside fishing and crabbing. With the house being lifted we were able to set up underneath with toys for the babies to stay entertained. Kitchen was great and master shower was very nice. Big windows allow you to see sunrise and bayou from kitchen and living room. Will definitely try to stay here again in the future.
My family gets together several times a year in different cities just to keep in touch. We come from all over the country and Camp David was a perfect location because many family members live near New Orleans. The space provided more than enough room to accommodate everyone that stopped by to visit. Our family highly recommends this beautiful property!
Our vacation 2025 in Lacombe, LA was one for the books for sure, seen and experienced things we never thought we would get to see and do. We have so many memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. The home was so beautiful and peaceful being on the water. We got to see alligators every day while we were staying. The home was so much more beautiful and awesome, the pictures do not show the true beauty this home offers. Laura the host, was the best host ever!! She provided just about everything one would need while staying in your home, including great places to eat, things to do, you name it. I just cannot speak highly enough of Laura. Every evening, we would come back and fish. We had caught and released so many different kinds of fish. I have to say this was the best part of staying in Lacombe. We will definitely be booking a future stay with Laura. I just cant not get into words our AWESOME our stay was!!! Love, friends and family from Oklahoma
The amenities were fantastic. The house itself was beautiful and very well maintained. The location of the house was perfect for my daughter who loves birdwatching. We really enjoyed the peace and quietness by the river. The water inside the house was a bit murky but I believe that's an external issue throughout St. Tammany parish. Would definitely recommend this spot for anyone wanting to be in a peaceful location but still be near big cities within 30 mins.
The house was perfect for us. Couldn't have asked for a better set up. The house was very clean. Location was perfect for us. We could go enjoy what we wanted, and the retreat away from the hustle of the city.
My husband and I brought my parents and 16 year old grandson to LA for their first time Easter weekend to visit family (2025). And our stay at this home was absolutely the cherry on top. Wish we'd had more time to just relax and enjoy the home without having to leave. The home is beautiful, clean and has plenty of space to move around comfortably, and stocked with just about everything you need for cooking/bbq'g, along with cleaning supplies and more. The view from the front porch is absolutely stunning!!! My hubby, father and grandson enjoyed fishing right in front of the house. Doesnt get much better than this. We are in awe. Would definitely love to stay here again and we'd be perfectly content if we could just stay put. Comfortable, serene, BEAUTIFUL!!! Laura's very responsive, kind, and welcoming. Thanks for a great stay! Hated leaving! No doubt I'd recommended this place.accomodations
We were celebrating two anniversaries, 50th & 30th. The house was great for six of us, we brought dinner back one night & had everything we needed. Very comfortable & beautiful. The view was perfect, pretty sure we saw a crock floating just below the surface. My husband rescued a crawfish & we had a frog visit outside our window. Got my daughter very excited. Thank you, if we ever return this would be a great place for us.
Great location! Close to so many attractions but in a very peaceful location! Lived the environment Everything we needed was there Owners were amazing and super helpful Loved seeing alligators from the porch every AMAn absolutely 5 experience
Good base in the bayous for a Louisiana experience!
When we arrived this house (or "camp" as they say) was clean, well-stocked, has a quality about it, and has an awesome view of a slow-moving river. It took a very still night with calm water for a flashlight to penetrate the water enough to see a single alligator swimming. There are mosquitoes around, but don't spoil an evening on the Adirondack chairs looking out over the river.
The camp is well built but does vibrate when the wind comes up, might be disconcerting to some, and I guess is a feature of being built up on wood pilings. Take "coastal flood warnings" as relevant - we had one and there was minor flooding of the boat dock and water across the road - not enough to prevent us driving anywhere though.
We used this camp as a base to see some of the surrounding Northshore, and drive into New Orleans over the endless Lake Pontchartrain causeway (about 24 miles long). GPS navigation for visitors should be considered essential when driving anywhere in the state.
On a fussy note, we would like to have seen proximity lights come on in the parking area under the camp for when we arrived back at night. There is a range of cooking pans, but all have Teflon coatings well known to be toxic, so we had to buy a few ceramic pans at Walmart. And I would like to have seen more EV chargers - both in the rental properties available and in the state in general.
This camp is a great base for a New Orleans and Louisiana experience!
I stayed at the property with a friend. We loved the scenic views and the abundant wildlife in the area. Sunrise on the deck with coffee is the only way to go. Television was unnecessary.
Just as great as the first time I stayed here. The host Laura is very responsive and accommodating. A beautiful home and layout. Views are amazing. Will be back in the future!
